^^Memphis, the guy above me, got me REALLY THINKING about this, so if its too long a post just read the bold parts. But I really started breaking it down and figured I'd write it out so others have a realistic idea of how too to break it down and the costs. TL;DR: I blew close to 50k in 3 years; factoring in transportation/other costs, easily over 50k
I was lowballing, without a DOUBT. Overtly I said it was because I didnt wanna sound like some liar, coming on here cock sizing going "LOOK HOW MUCH $ I BLEW GUIZ!"
But, I guess subconsciously I wanted to feel better/not seem like a piece of shit. I wasn't trying to SEVERELY lowball, but definitely was trying to stay at the lower end of my spectrum.
I guess you might be right, although I think my drug of choice factored into that.
It is important though to note that we weren't BALLING OUT every day amigo. Many a time went by where I was lucky enough to scrape together 20$ to get a stamp bag or throw down on an opana with a buddy. By all means I did not spend 100$ a day EVERY DAY; there were equally vast portions of time where I spent 0$ compared to those where I spent 150$.
I was an OPANA guy. For awhile the price was ~45$ but eventually shot up to 60$. nothing else tickled me so I stuck wioth them despite the costs. But shit lets say an average of....7 opanas a week, lets even make the cost 60$ (highest I ever paid). That'd be 21500$ for one year of opanas. About the time I did them. Before that, it was blues, half the price/half the potency. Lets say half of that for a year of oxy abuse, thats another 10k and my first year was meager abuse at best, rarely ever bought them the firsrt 6months or so, so we'll split that 10k AGAIN for my first year.
We're left with 36k i guess for 3 years on JUST OPIATES. Lets throw in another couple Gs for the weed I smoked, the X i ate, the bars I muched, etc. Brings the total up to 40-45k (depending on how much you factor in other drugs. But i've blow easily a couple Gs on weed ALONE, since I started smoking at age 14)
I also drove, a LOT, to get drugs. Like I did a LOT of driving. People used to joke that I was a drug taxi because I would drive around friends who had $ but no car/gas in exchange for them hooking me up with lines/pills/etc. SO MANY TIMES I fought off being sick by offering my friend a ride in exchange for a quarter of an opana. I def would spend 10$ in gas easily on those days, and another 10$ gas easy on days I DID have $ to go drive to get drugs. If we factor in gas? The # below would prob be like at least 5k, maybe 10k, higher? So with transportation/other costs? Over 50k.
Side note: first year I lived in a major city and used public transportation, since then I used family cars and dont have my own. For most people with their OWN CAR i'm sure this expense would be even higher than my own
So I guess you're right buddy. Really thinking about it, I probably blew 50k and I wasn't even a IV drug user. Granted, there were days where I sniffed an entire bundle to not be sick, and other days where 1 stamp got be by, or a tiny scrap of opana. But I was bad and I have no delisuions about how bad I was; I guess I just didn't estimate it correctly.
Feel dirty looking back now that I've got some clean time. Gods above I could've done so many other, better things with that $.
I hope I bought the one dude I used to score from a good lawyer at the very least. I cannot tell you how many times I thought about my giving $ away to these scummy people. I would think about how I WORKED FUCKIN HARD for every fucking penny, sometimes barely making minimum wage, and in 3 seconds a days salary would be gone into someones hand, for a pill the size of the nail on my finger. 3 more seconds, and that 8 hours of labor was up my nose and vanished faster than pizza in front of a fat kid.
I would often think about how $ literally goes in a circle with drugs: user buys a drug, drug dealer spends it on some stupid flashy shit, company/CEO get the $, pay a low level employee their $ for doing their job, and that person goes out and buys drugs. The circle of life, heh.
So yea, i guess you're right Memphis. Definitely way higher than my original estimate of 15k-25. Idk if its as high as you might think but its def around ~50k and not 25k.
EDIT: Totally forgot about detox/Rehab! My ONE STINT IN DETOX in CT cost my insurance 12k. I only had to pay ~100$, but lets factor in the $ i've spent since then going to group therapy/clinic 2-3 days a week? Another G or two right there....For those of you without insurance this # must be retarded high, easily 10k a pop.
