23 and I started drinking everyday for two months at 20 years of age, 6-8 Light beers daily with an IPA thrown in after I got arrested for half a gram of hash posession and quit weed cold turkey for two months. I was drinking pretty much every day for those two months, but I'm glad I switched to a low-dose benzo dependence instead - valium was forced on to me by the ER docs after a massive 6-times rolled over sport car accident in the canyons, since they said MAD muscle spasms were on their way.
So, I took the valium and stopped drinking due to the APAP in the norcos they gave me, and now I still use scripted benzos, on 1.5-2mg Klonopin and 300mg Lyrica now, daily. I like the benzos because they keep me sane and I don't crave alcohol at all while on my scripted dose, which is great since alcoholism runs heavily in my family, on both sides.
I now drink about once a month, usually half-full bottle of a 7-8% alcohol IPA, only during social events to give a slight boost to either socializing, dancing, taste for a great meal, etc. Life is SO much better when you don't drink daily... it really screws up your GABA receptors due to rekindling every time you re-introduce the short-acting alcohol in to your system.
