How many of you suffer insomnia? And...

before bedtime

Cyamemazine as much as i want (an anti psychotic which is also sedating)
loprazolam 1mg (hypnotic benzo)
Diazepam 30mg (sedating muscle relaxing benzo)
Meprobamae 1.2 grams (Sedating muscle relaxer, the main metabolite of carispodol (Soma))
Aceprometazine 30mg (sedating anti-histamine)
Buprenorphine, i sometimes tke a bit in the evening coz it helps chill (opiate)

thats it ATM, but new legislation where i live is going to reduce the boxes of meprobamate/aceprometazine to 5 pills per box instead of 30, and docs will not be allowed to Rx more than 1 pill a nighet (400mg meprobamate/10mg aceprometaibe) because of old people who take it and then have accidents thee next day... which is just stupid becoz when the pharmacist told me this I said "it's the same thing with long lasing hypnotic benzos", she said "thats why docs don't prescribe long lasting hypnotic benzos to old people" to which i said "well why not just do th same with meprobamate/aceprometazine, and just not Rx it to the elderly, instead of completely changing the legislation....." IMO/IME meprobamate/aceprometazine is the best sleeping pill out there, also coz it doesn't have strong amnesic properties like many hypnoic benzos (Flunitrazepam for instance....

phatass: I have read a lot of your posts, and notice you talk about benzo's like loprazolam, and some other ones that aren't prescribed in North America. If you don't mind me asking, what Country are you from? Damn I would love to live in France, or Italy. Its so hard to get prescribed Benzo's or even Zopiclone where I'm from. BTW you are also very intelligent phatass!

Even Hydroxyzine is hard to get prescribed here. :( Maybe I just need to find the right doctor, but it is difficult in my part of the Country.

If any of you guys are truly suffering from insomnia and your doctor isn't prescribing you anything that works you should get a new doctor. I've never had any problem getting benzos for anxiety and insomnia, if you really have a problem and you've tried other meds that don't work they shouldn't have a problem with prescribing benzos or something that will work, that is their job. Not being able to sleep seriously disrupts your life and shouldn't be taken lightly imo, at least when it's a chronic condition.

finding a new doctor who can help you is not always easy.
As a student living on a grad school stipend I have to work with what my school insurance covers.
MY doc at school admitted that she can't really do anything more for me as she is not specialized enough; she is having me see a psych this tuesday so maybe he'll have some more insight.

I don't drive (no car) so getting somewhere to see a sleep specialist and paying for it are not easy options.

that said I've had no problem getting benzo's but just regular ones like klonopin, will ask about something more suited to sedation.

that was an attempt at humor;
I had just returned home from a day out, had been drinking 4loko, and was finding it nearly impossible to sleep even though the pot was trying tis best to knock me out.

Even though I had my last sip of the 4loko many hours before, thru-out the day it was just wayy to much caffeine/taurine/other crap thats in a 4loko. But it was worth it; best day of grad school I've had so far. It was good to see that a bunch of physics grad students can actually have a good time.

finally around 6:45 am I woke up from terrible passed-out type sleep had some water and a klonopin and was able to sleep better for the next few hours; I didn't want to take a klonopin earlier in the night to try and fall asleep simply because I had been drinking.

After meeting with a psych today, he was of the opinion 'Benzo's all the way'
I told him from experience Klonopin helped me with anxiety but not sedation and his only response was to try increasing the dosage. I asked about trying a different benzo such as Temezepam or Nitrazepam for sedation but his solution was an Rx for Lunesta (S-Zopiclone).

He agreed that Seroquel can have bad side effects and is probably not a route to pursue for my treatment; we also talked a bit about marijuana, he was very knowledgeable about CBD and marijuana's anxiolytic effects (strain dependent). After this conversation I incredibly wished I were living in California.

I haven't read through all the threads..

I've had sleeping issues for years before i even knew what any kind of drugs were (legal or illicit)

Though I have had up and down's (medical use, recreational, addiction) using Benzos and other medication for Anxiety and Sleeping. Tho u may FEEL you have had the best night sleep.. there is always at rebound effect and u never getting your full 5 stages of deep sleep

I use music. an app called ITunes Shut will slowly fade the volume of itunes and then pause it after x number of minutes. So i have a few playlists fo ambient, classical, post-rock, night time sleepy music. I try not to get into bed until I am going to sleep so I do my reading and such on the couch.

Anybody have eating tips for sleep hygiene? I tend to have a problem with late night snacking, whether I've smoked pot or not. If I've smoked pot the eating is usually no problem for trying to sleep as the pot does the trick.

I've heard different things about eating at night. I read somewhere that eating carbs does something such that tryptophan is more readily absorbed? could be way off but it was something about carbs and tryptophan. I'm vegetarian so turkey is out of the question, not vegan but also dislike milk so a glass of warm milk is out

5-htp and pot... This will do you wonders...

i'm Rx'ed 4mg. clonazepam and 60mg. temazepam for sleep. now it works but tolerance will soon kick in...

if i'm really having sleep troubles i'll take some ambien as well, or flurazepam from my dealer.

other drugs i've used include phenobarbital(works well for sleep, not "fun"), seroquel(only on tough comedowns), secobarbital(twice, i hate to waste reds), and once methaqualone(i REALLY hate to waste ludes, but like strong barbs and large amounts of whisky it puts you out).
