If you do choose to use them don't go over 20 mg, I could see there being a danger in actually getting a high (though its unusual, there is the risk), which is not what you are looking for. Taking 10-20 mg and then doing a rapid taper off them after the first 5 days, once you start to feel better....that s route you could take. As I said, I had a similar habit, maybe a little bigger and as kicking cold turkey. One night I tried (I believe) 14 mg of loperamide. I believe it provided some relief, but no much. I really don't suffer ofrm the GI issues in w/d either, I don't have much cramping or constant runs. The lope seemed to allow me about 20-30 mins of sleep, maybe it was from placebo effect, idk. But I was hesitant to take more than that, there isn't much done in studies conducted on massive doses of that stuff, just to try to force enough thru the blood brain barrier to acheive an opiate high. I can say I have read some bad things that suggest it could lead to brain disease issues like Parkinson's disease.
When I kicked habits like that cold turkey I would suck it up for as long as possible and then hit a urgent care or doctors office and both times I did this I was Rx'd 20 mg of Ativan. With that, some good bud (no shit swag, I prefer a nice chill strain while in w/d, Some med grade stuff that is less likely to increase anxiety levels), then maybe 2-3 beers and I would be able to eat a full meal and sleep around 4-6 hours for the first time in 2+ nights. After that it was all pretty easy ime, The Ativan and bud helped, plus a few beers to help initiiate sleep. Because with a habit like that you can get some with benzos and maybe some other sleep aides to help. Just don't get addicted to benzos afterwards, hence wh Dr's on'y precribe 20 mg of a weak one like Ativan, and though its weak it ha worked well for me in w/d better than heavie doses of klonopin that I have used, which I couldn't understand. And I've used valium too and it didn't do much but drop my blood presure real low.
