How long will the withdrawals last?

your dad sounds awesome. Save your energy, forget that guy, and concentrate on yourself for now. Any energy you have should be put into you. You are young, you have plenty of time for the rest of it later.

Brooki, butrans patch might be making withdrawals worse if you continue to take small amounts of other opioids since it contains buprenorphine which can cause precipitated withdrawals (god damn that precip word is hard to spell for non native english writer :)).

How is the patch dealing with the pain?

Edit: also the patch may prevent other opioids working in small amounts.

Your boyfriend doesn't know what he is talking about.

Some non-medication based things that will help withdrawals:

-hot shower or bath
-light exercise
-magnessium
-meditation

Your withdrawals should not be that bad, but it is all relative to the individual. Find something that is not physically difficult that you enjoy doing and focus on it. I ended up playing a lot of videogames, and I painted a lot of pictures.
 
Thanks everyone for the help and support. Idk the patch does help my pain but yes I am worried about the precipitated withdrawals I'm not really sure how that works.... Maybe someone here can shed some light. I've always felt fine taking my patch with my hydrocodone but and fine taking it with the dilauded the ER gave me but Idk if the patch is helping or making it worse... Idk. I'm supposed to see my pain management doctor tomorrow but I don't think I'll be able to go and I get drug tested and idk if he will be happy about the hydro not be prescribed by him even though I was in the ER in severe pain. I also took a Percocet two days ago bc I was hurting but it was an old prescription from when my wisdom teeth came out. So if my piss comes up with that I'll be in trouble. I've never done anything to violate the pain contract I just got myself in a pickle with the dilauded?.

I think in the beginning of last week I put my patch on and it cause me to go into precipitated withdrawals. A friend told me to take it off and I did and I felt better not much but a little and also there was water underneath it which never usually happens. Idk what to do here guys. Maybe if I can take no more dilauded? I have two more quarters. I just took my hydrocodone and Xanax and feel ok but somewhat agitated and sweaty and hot as heck.
 
Also I called the pain management bc they moved my appointment up from Thursday to tomorrow and I usually see the APRN but apparently she's on vacation. I called back and left a message saying if If my dad can come pick up my prescription of hydrocodone and then see the doc next week. But they didn't call back. They have let me do this in the past. I can't go sick and two I can't risk getting kicked out of pain management.
 
If the patch is already on, meaning the buprenorphine is already in your system, and you take your hydromorphone you wont go into precipitated withdrawal. Youd only go into precipitated withdrawal if you had hydromorphone built up in your system and then went and introduced buprenorphine into your system.

Buprenorphine out competes hydromophone in terms of their respective affinity for opioid receptors. When hydromorphone is already attacked to your opioid receptors and you flood your system with buprenorphine, the buprenorphine will essentially knock or rip all the hydromorphone off your receptors, causing you to go into violent and immeditate withdrawal. But if you already have buprenorphine attached to your receptors and ypu introduce hydromorphone to your system, with its weaker affinity for opioid receptors, it wont rip any buprenorphine of the receptors that it is already attached too, and the hydromorphone will only attach to receptors not already filled by the buprenorphine already in your system.

That is the laymans explaination.
 
So basically if I'm feeling shitty it won't do much harm by taking it while the patch is already on? But it also won't do much good? And thanks so much for the reply
 
I feel ancy so agitated I wanna try to beat this out the best way and also idk if I should swallow or insulflate my Xanax to get calmed down quicker? I already swallowed 1mg I have a moderate tolerance to benzos. I want to be able to sit on my couch and relax not feel like I'm agitated and burning up
 
I've heard from a addiction specialist that when buprenorphine is used in small amounts so it can't fully saturate all of the receptors and another opioid is introduced those two opioids then start to play ping pong with your receptors as there are free receptors in which the full agonist opioid (most opioids) tries to stuck on and the partial agonist (buprenorphine) sitting next to it gets violent and rips the other opioid out of the receptor and the cycle goes on.

In case of taking large amounts of buprenorphine such as when in opiate replacement therapy the receptors are totally saturated by it and therefore it just prevents other opioids sticking into the receptors (except very strong ones which rip buprenorphine out of the receptor and stick into it).

This happened to me when I used 25mcg/h buprenorphine patch and tried to take small amounts of morphine for breakthrough pain. Each time I took morphine I got goosebumps and had restless legs on the night.
 
Sublingual is more effective than snorting if you want to get faster onset. You just waste benzos if taken nasally.

Be careful with benzos as it might turn out to be another problem.
 
Also I wonder why it doesn't do it with the hydrocodone or maybe bc hydrocodone is weaker than hydromorphone? I'm home a lone right now I just wanna jump outta my skin
 
It's not don't worry I just want to be better. I've been prescribed them for years no abuse. I just crushed a .5 Xanax up should i now mix it with a drink instead of snorting it. I'm lost like I'm not me I can't think my dad wanted me to clean the house before and I couldn't and now there is a huge thunderstorm again here. It's pouring and thunder is loud. Random sry. What should I do with the crushed Xanax and should I touch any the last two quarters of hydromorphone?
 
Try taking the Xanax first, I'd just put the powder under your tongue as MrRoot suggest (good posts btw MR!). That should help.

What you do with the rest of your hydromorphone is up to you. Sounds like you probably won't need it, so why not just get rid of it?
 
I was only keeping the last two quarters for tapering purposes incase I felt severely awful to take with my patch on. Is that pointless? Thank you so much for the help. I'm a straight and arrow girl for the most part I just didn't know these hydromorphones would do this to me especially taken as prescribed. Ugh it's hard to be in pain and feel this way
 
Yeah, that stuff isn't very effective for tapering. I'd get rid of it if that is all you're keeping it for. Try not to be too hard on yourself, nothing is wrong with the straight and narrow (though I've never had much success in walking it, I always found it super attractive!).

Maybe I will put half under my tounge and snort other half. I never snort it's just a lot to put under my tounge or should I mix it into a drink?
 
I strongly just recommend either putting all of it under your tongue or throwing it all in a drink. It will kick in faster if you put it under your tongue. Don't snort it, it's just a waste of Xanax.

What do you take the prazosin for? It seems like it would be okay to take with melatonin, but honestly I'd do some research if I were you.

Definitely research that. Did you happen to read Moreaux's post from today? She almost had a seizure because she didn't research her meds interactions.

Also, it's always an option to call and ask a pharmacist. I find they know more about drug interactions than doctors even. Depending on where you live, you should be able to call a pharmacy that is open 24 hours. There is always a pharmacist on duty.
