I've been nearsighted and wearing glasses/contacts for about the past 10 years, and while I'm still young I'm thinking about having lasik eye surgery done. I just recently found out my insurance covers it, so I've been thinking about it a lot the last couple days since my parents brought it up. Have any of you had it done or know anyone that has had it done? From what I've heard it's a great procedure to have done with minimal risks. I'm wondering how long until I could smoke again, or if I'd need to take a break at all. I've heard your eyes get pretty dry and you can't rub them at all for up to around 1 month. I do wear contacts, but when I smoke my eyes don't really get dry unless I've already been wearing my contacts for 12 hours or so straight. I also don't really want to bring it up with my doctor, even though I know I should. I think this could be a great benefit to me, and I really miss the days of good vision before glasses / contacts and I'd love to not deal with that stuff anymore. Any insight would be great, I haven't found too much besides the occasional google search. I would be willing to give up smoking for several weeks for a lot better vision for sure, but I don't know if it's not worth smoking for something to 6 months to a year later. I don't know if I could give it up for that long.
