How is water detected in your urine, is it only from the color? or something else?

Ok, I've heard two different ideas about water being detected, I just want to make sure I don't mess up. Some people say to not drink too much water the day of your test because it's too dilute and you won't pass your test because it's too clear, they can tell.
2nd idea - (This is the idea I like) - I feel better with this idea-
Drink as much water as you can the night before the test, and drink as much as you can several hours before your test. If you take Vitamin B12 all the time, then it's going to color your urine.
Now because there are 2 different ideas, I wanted to know how do they know if your piss is too dilute? Is it just the color? if it's just the color I can just take B12 pills and drinks tons of water and feel like I have a better chance of passing. I just want to make sure that they can't detect the water from the test can they? too much water won't come up on the test is it? This might sound like a stupid question, but I don't wanna mess up so I'm just making sure. I'm guessing that they are just checking for drugs in the liquid, they aren't checking for water, and they can only tell if it's too much water visually. I could be wrong, don't know.

specific gravity is commonly used- that is, if the urine is too 'light', not dense enough, the test comes back diluted. cool thing about this is it takes a little while to determine, so you can clean out between your dumping almost exclusively water out of your bladder (with a little coloring, as you mentioned) and dumping clean urine out, as i assume thats what will happen.

jesus christ, would you go to the erowid.org drug testing vault and read the stuff there already before you ask 762 more drug testing questions?
the simple answer to all of your questions so far is one you won't like. DON'T DO DRUGS WHILE YOU'RE BEING TESTED.

The place where you get your test done will most likely send the specimen to a lab. The lab will check for creatine levels in the urine to determine if it is deluted. Alot of the cleansers contain creatine in the drinks to help you pass.Visit your local head shop.

Perhaps I can offer a suggestion. My time spent working in prison laboratories introduced me to a common technique used by inmates to pass urine tests.
It's called "railroading".
Basically you need a drug-free friend to help you. Try to drink as little as possible, and empty your bladder about an hour before the test. Then you insert a straw or plastic tube as far as you can into your penis, effectively cathetorising yourself. Your drug-free friend puts the other end in his penis and then empties his bladder into your bladder.
Hey presto you test clean.
If you were shy and had the equipment I suppose you could be posh and inject your friend's urine into your tube with a syringe.

Clop. does that really work? I can't imagine that it is actually possible to fill up your bladder from the urethra end...isn't there some kind of valve or something that would only allow the flow of urine to go one-way?

Yes it does really work!
It's quite a problem for prison staff when trying to test inmates. There are a lot of sneaky tricks to thwart the tests and the testers.

another idea for you is to take bleach and tip your finger into and then let it dry. do this like right before you go get the test and when you pee in the cup swirl your finger in the cup and that does the trick. its kinda gross but hell its better than gettin caught. i have been doin this for 3 years and it always works. but make sure you let your finger dry.

JeffG the bleach thing normally only fucks up drug assays that use a method called Fluorescence Polaristion Immuno Assay. It's an in situ binding assay using the appropriate antibody and a competitive antigen tagged with a fluorophore (normally Sodium Fluoroscein). The fluorescent "whiteners" present in most soaps, household bleach products and washing powders can stop the assay from working properly by swamping the fluorescent signal. Unfortunately it is easy to see from the instrument readings that someone has done this deliberately.

It is via CREATININE CLEARANCE, not creatine levels in your urine. Your body metabolizes creatine to creatinine so this level will indicate that your urine is diluted. You can take creatine products to increase this but I haven't read any reports of this actually working to defeat a drug test. Check out the drug testing FAQ at Erowid. I would not use an adulterant in the sample as they can be detected and might be immediate grounds to fire your or flunk you on your test depending upon the reason you are being tested.
pH, Temperature, and specific gravity are also indicators.

Jesus, it hurts just reading how to do that.

I've known people to pass just by drinking a lot of water. Apparently there are a lot of slack people working for the testing labs.
Damn clop, did you ever actually WITNESS this is action??!

And they wonder why so many inmates have AIDS and hepatitis.
Oh and having been catheterized in the hospital before, it can be EXTREMELY PAINFUL.
I am pretty sure that you cannot put urine back into the bladder this way. It might stay in your body long enough to take a drug test but it isn't actually in the bladder. The catheter I had was a fucking coil of tubing (well over a foot) that had to be inserted all the way to press up against the bladder and cause involuntary urination. I wasn't joking about the STD's either. Its fairly common to piss small amounts of blood after removing the catheter. Not to mention that the tubing passes very close to your prostate on the way to your bladder. At best, you will probably get a urinary tract infection.

Believe it or not there are people out there who drink a lot of water daily. I myself drink about seven glasses a day. Flushing your system with streight water does work as long as you drink enough of it in a reasonable amount of time before your test...
