^It seems you have taken plenty of different kinds of alcohols, I'm just curious about how would you compare the high of said, isopropanol, to good ol' ethanol.
Of the small-chained alcohols, I've taken ethanol (too many to count), isopropanol (>20 times), and tert-butanol (5 times). Isopropanol is shit. It has none of the euphoric or other rewarding effects of ethanol, and I really cannot tell why. It does get me sedated, somewhat more dreamy, but no near the level of happiness (or intoxication) ethanol does. For reference, I usually don't take more than 30 ml of isopropanol in an evening to avoid the horrid acetone-induced headache (beats the ethanol hangover easily). Even at that dose, you can smell acetone on your own breath from one hour onwards for at least 15 hours, which can be somewhat annoying. Other than that, there's no hangover associated with that kind of dose for me.
As for tert-butanol, well, that one was alright. I only did it like 5 times, but at doses exceeding 10 ml it did produce some euphoria, giddiness, sedation, comparable to benzos more than ethanol. It was cleaner than ethanol, I'll tell you that much. Well, for the first few hours anyway. One night I went overboard, and ingested something like 25 ml. That was fun, but led to a hangover similar (and pretty severe) to ethanol's, lasted the whole next day, and it was more debilitating than an ethanol hangover. After that, I've only done it once (8 ml), because it's a bitch to ingest. Worst of the three easily, even if you account for its lower-needed-amount-to-feel-effects. I might do more experimenting with it later, I just have to go get some more from the lab because I've run out. Another reason I haven't really done it after, is because I want to try 2-methyl-butan-2-ol instead, which is said to be even better (and lower amounts needed, easier to ingest), but we don't have it at the lab, so I'd have to order and that's a hassle.
Hope this answers your question. Tl;dr isopropanol is a waste of time IMO, tert-butanol has something going for it, needs further experimentation.
1,4-butanediol is a different game because it's a prodrug and isn't really active itself at used doses. Therefore, it has significantly different effects and kinetics. I haven't tried any other alcohols, although I've done plenty of other solvents (like THF).
