How does everyone have like 6,000 friends on Facebook?

facebook is shallow fun, and in a way replaces celebrity drivel in magazines with drivel people you met at least once are doing. i like it when people i used to have a thing for get fat and old looking and i dont.

its also free and just as good as text messages. it has lots of benefits for setting up social gatherings when you have no credit.

its just shallow shits and giggles. how do people take it so seriously? there are people i used to work with that write status's that amuse me when in real life i hardly talked to them. does this matter? no because i still find what they wrote funny.

and i use it to keep in touch with friends far away and organise meet ups

if you really think you have 300 friends thats stupid, and if a simple categorisation issue (in your head) means you cant use this free communication service then thats also stupid.

i dont add any apps and i dont use instagram. really whats with all the facebook snobbery? its just a shallow easy to use communication medium with a few draw backs and lots of positives

hahaha yeah it's messed up just how much these sites are gettin used by the feds.
Lol, you think only your friends can view your info.? Do you use "Instagram"? How about "applications"? Have you adjusted the privacy settings for those applications? Have all of your friends?

A lot of "people" have your information whether you like it or not...

Happy browsing! ;)

On a side note, I got rid of my Facebook account two or so years ago and have no plans on going back no matter how "easy" it makes keeping in touch. I don't need the instant gratification of clicking a button to show my care for my friends/family--That's what the novel-length e-mails once a month or two are for. :D

I was utterly crushed when a man I USED to adore didn't accept my friend request...then I came to my senses a few days later.

Fucking Facebook. I got sucked in for a short time, but now I use it sparingly.

I don't use instagram nor applications. I'm careful with my privacy settings.

instagram is stupid. if people can't take decent pics or/and learn to edit using decent software instead of bullshit cookie cutter shit then they don't deserve the pic.

Real soon instagram will have the right to sell/use all the pictures uploaded. I suggest people delete their accounts.

Anyway, I had facebook, but most of my good friends didn't even use it, so there wasn't much of a point. There are a few people I'd use facebook for to share articles and music, but thats about it. I ended up deleting it because its a time waster, and a bad representation of who people really are. I rather not be judged by my facebook and nor do I want to spend my time on a silly website

Do your friends use any applications? Some applications can access friend information.

Probably, but regardless, I know the owners of facebook and allegedly governments etc. can access people's profiles - irrational or not that doesn't bother me particularly (in any case even if I deleted my account now they'd still have all that stuff), the point I was making is I'd just rather make sure my friends are people I actually know.

^ yeah pretty much. I have very few friends attached to my account that I actually haven't met, or at the very least talk to on a regular basis. I keep my privacy settings fairly tight and customized, but at the end of the day, if anyone were interested it would not be hard would it? So I simply use a pseudonym, stop any tags stating my location, have all my posts to me from other people private so only I can read them, and I customize my wall posts that I publish whether I want them public or just friends or friends of friends.

Being on teh internet at all is risky if you feel you have something to hide, and aren't a total whizzkid. I personally now view nothing I do as anything to hide - fuck it.

I doubt Tom kept all those friends. 99% of new users said "who the f- is this guy?" And automatically erased him.

Lol!! Totally remember Myspace. But then Facebook came around and no one has a Myspace anymore!

But seriously - I have a Facebook account, I use some apps. I don't put super personal info on it. My Facebook first name is real, my last name isn't. I like to keep in touch with old friends. From high school, from college, from university, from where I used to live. I also like to find out about parties. I have added my favourite DJs on facebook so they invite me to their events. I also have some family members on it. It adds up a bit. I think I have just over 200 Facebook friends. Yeah, I don't talk to most of them anymore but that's what I think is pretty cool - you can still connect with them if you want.
