How do I know when I hit vein

I did do a search and read all the many info sites. But its not easy trying alone.

Trying to hit c just for the experience. I think I did it last night right but the buzz was ok. Lots of bruising.

How do you know if you hit vein. I see these blue things on my arm, in crook of elbow, on side, in hand. I am assuming they are not arteries, but how can I be sure.

So when I find one and tie on the tourniquet, I tie above the injection place right? How far? Then make fist until the vein pops up? They never seem to get very big.

But big problem is how do i know when I am in it. The needle is easy to get into my arm (yea!) and I am unsure of the angle. Not straight in but no laying on the arm either, right? Now I read that you are supposed to pull in and see blood? How do you do that with only two hands? :D Leave the needle in your arm.

My best success seems to be on the top of my hands. But really I have holes and bruises everywhere. Not cool at work!

Any advice appreciated.

oh one more. On filtering the liquid through a cotton ball. The cotton just absorbed all the liquid. This does not seem right.

Ok once you have your veins sticking up either by using a tourniquet or whatever, insert the syringe into your vein at an angle, like in this picture: http://www.abacon.com/sociology/soclinks/25313.gif

Once you think you are in the vein, pull back on the plunger and if you're in, blood will spurt into the barrel of the syringe. DO NOT MOVE THE SYRINGE! slowly push the plunger down. If it stings or hurts it means you've probably missed.

Depending on what drug your using and how much, you should get a massive rush.

And with filtering... don't use a whole cotton ball. Tear a quarter off and then half that and drop it into the liquid, then put your syringe in the cotton and suck it through that until there is nothing left.

There is heaps of info on how to shoot up online pluto.

EDIT: This explains it better: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/heroin/heroin_info4.shtml It is 1am for me though...

about the cotton ball, use as little cotton as possible, and roll it as tight as possible.

the blue ones are veins, thats what you want to shoot into. if you were to hit an artery, bright red blood would shoot into the rig without you pulling back; if that happens, remove the needle immediately, do not inject into an artery! i recommend you use the veins in the crook of your elbow, as they are larger, easier to hit, and less noticable than the ones on your hands. the bruising shouldnt be too bad unless you shoot through the vein.

the rig should go into the vein at a 30 degree angle or less. you'll know when you're in because there'll be slight pressure when you're against it, and then the pressure will be gone when you penetrate.

the easiest way to find if you hafta search, once you get the rig in your skin, pull back the plunger just a little bit, creating a small vacuum in teh chamber, then when you penetrate the vein, blood will be pulled up into the chamber. once you get to there, you can double check (pull back a little more) just to make sure, and then once you're ready, inject and enjoy.

Veins are blood vessels that carry blood from the extremities of the body back to the heart and lungs where it becomes re-oxygenated. Veins have no pulse, and the blood they carry is a deep, dark red because it is low in oxygen. Arteries carry blood rich in oxygen from the lungs and heart to all the other parts of the body. Arteries have a pulse, and the blood in them is bright red and frothy. Arteries are located deeper in the body than veins and so are not visible as many of your veins are.

You'll know you've hit an artery if:
* The plunger of your syringe is forced back by the pressure of the blood.
* When you register, the blood in your syringe is bright red, frothy, and 'gushing.' Blood in veins is dark red, slow-moving, and "lazy."
* You feel an electric "burn" along your limb.

You can avoid hitting an artery by:
* Never injecting where you feel a pulse.
* Injecting only into surface veins and not trying to hit those that lie deeper.

What to do if you hit an artery:
* Untie your tourniquet and pull your needle out immediately.
* Raise the limb above your head to stop the bleeding, if possible.
* Apply firm pressure to the wound for at least 10 minutes.
* If bleeding continues, apply a bandage or cloth wrapped very tightly around the wound and seek medical attention immediately. The loss of blood from hitting an artery can be life-threatening if it's not stopped.

Might help if you could find someone with experience of doing this or even a nurse or someone like that, better IMO than reading a book about it, though best still read the book if it is just some junky your mate knows.
The more information you have the safer you should be.

So when muscle builders flex and they have these 'veins' are their forearms, those are not arteries? What about the 'veins' at your wrist. I thought those were arteries? No?

this is odd but when SWIM first started this is what SWIM did

if your left handed shoot into your left arm... its al ittle tricky geting use to useing your right arm if your left handed... because it feels like u should use your left arm... but the vains in witchever handed you are tend to be biger.. hense less misses... shoot into that big vain you have right nere your elbow... its the easyest to hit for first timers.

the very first time SWIM did it SWIM practicly laid the syringe down on SWIMs arm... then raised it only about a half inch and went in like that... SWIM was useing 1/4th inch needles to make sure SWIM dident break through... if your useing 1/2s go about halfway on the needle and then pull back on the plunger... this is called regestering the shot... if you see a shot a crimson blood flow into the plunger you know your in... if you cant regester it... just LOOK... you will see blood SLOWLY filtering in... this is a little harder but it can be done if whatever substence your shooting isant an extremely dark color (so its harder with H and easyer with Powder) INJECT SLOWLY dont slam the damn thing down... good luck...

im waiting for your o god i missed post... most of us have one

also if you check paradox's post histroy he did a decent write up (( i think ive seen it before tho... maybe simaler to Phrexs writeup...)) on IV injections...

i have one SOMEWHERE in my post history to... but it was in a thread i dident create.... so happy hunting

I've got a 147kb pdf of a pamphlet that has photos of using a tourniquet and registering if in a vein. PM me if you want a copy..

It helps to wet the cotton with sterile water first too, it'll make the cotton stick together and it'll absorb the water instead of your drug solution.

I feel a pulse by the crook of my elbow.

Trying to picture you doing this makes me shiver.

Same here, injecting just seems like a huge (extreme) step to me. Don't know if it's the social stigma attached to it or the physical side of it. Both for me probably ;)

OUCH! My fucking arms hurt. Bruises. I missed a few times.

This shit is hard.

I know I hit vein a few times but the rush was not that great. I did use a bit of coke (nice fat line). Maybe my quality sucks.

So if you were just to jab the need into your body and shoot, would you get any effect?

I know this may be a bad idea in general. I am not looking for an addiction. I just like to try new things and this seems efficient. If I end up hooked, hopefully you all can be nice and talk me down. Peace

You're talking about subcutaneous injection and no, it's not a good idea. Injecting anything non-medical grade underneath the skin is asking for all kinds of problems.
