How did you get off your butt today V.2

looks like your bench is your best life, duder! overhead aint bad at all, either. in fact i'd say that's your best. the row is up there too. your squats and deads should be higher comparatively, but they aren't bad.

Thanks! Well, I am intentionally starting it off "easy" on squats and deadlifts, because they're the toughest lifts and I don't want to have soreness affect my yoga practice.

The squats were challenging, but it was more like ~66-70% of my max rather than ~80-90%. As a result I'm almost positive I'll be able to keep adding weight to those two lifts; I've never had to deload on them, while I am forced to deload regularly with presses and rows. We'll see what the future holds! :)

But 140lb for bench is pretty near my max. I thought it was gonna be a lot easier, but it actually took everything I had to do those five sets.

For whatever reason even though my upper body lifts are not bad, my upper body (mainly chest) looks a bit scrawny compared to the rest of my body. Vanity is definitely a significant part of the reason I'm starting to lift again.

This morning:

90 min of yoga. Challenging as hell for two reasons: 1. Didn't wake up on time for the second consecutive day (I'm getting really fucking tired of not being able to sleep through the night) and 2. Sore quads/groin/shoulders from lifting for the first time in 6+ months yesterday.

Hopefully the soreness is only a (mostly) one-time thing; I didn't stretch very well yesterday (friggin' lazy), which is out of character for me (I normally stretch for as many minutes as the workout). I also plan on buying hemp powder, organic chlorella and shilajit extract powder, which should help my recovery even more.

Later I plan on biking ~10 miles round trip to the grocery store, and going for a run in the evening. I don't really feel like going on a run, but it's been two days since my last run, I have an off-day on Thursday, and most importantly, I wrote down yesterday that I would today. Mind over matter!

everyday im on this thing

"It’s also very important to realize the difference between a strength and a conditioning adaptation. Strength improves very quickly at first if a correct program is followed, but soon slows down and ultimately can be developed for many years – it’s a long-term adaptation because it requires the construction of new tissue and the restructuring of tissue already in place.

Strength is a very persistent adaptation that doesn’t disappear after a layoff. Once a man gets strong, he’s always stronger than he was before, even if he quits training, because the long-term adaptations have raised his baseline strength. Getting stronger is “expensive” to your body, and expensive things aren’t usually disposed of quickly.

Conditioning, on the other hand, develops very quickly and goes away just as fast, as most of you’ve already noticed. A young, healthy guy can get in pretty good shape to run in about 2 weeks. Lay off a couple of months and you have to start over from the previous baseline, but it comes back just as quickly."

Fortunately, yoga's much more than cardio.

Still sore from Monday's lifting (laaame), so this morning's practice is gonna be lame. It is what it is. 90 min of practice, biking, running. Least tomorrow's a day off.

EDIT: It's mind over matter. The physical practice was actually much easier than yesterday. But I feel my body may be trying to tell me something, so I did 60, not 90, minutes, eschewing the Primary Series. We'll see how much I bike/run today.

Monday I did deadlifts, dumbbell rows, cable rows, lat pull down machine, standing brocep curls, smith machine overhand thumbless brocep curls, face pulls. Of course biked about 10 miles as well.

Yesterday was sitting leg curls, leg extensions, high cable rows, adduction and the opposite one that works the outer glute. Biked about 8 miles as well.

Today my plan is decline press, tricep extension, pec-dec, standing brocep curls, smith machine overhand thumbless brocep curls, weighted sit ups. Probably another 10 miles on the bike as well.

Day 5 or ab challenge plus weights and a but of cardio

100 minutes of yoga

Which I can safely say was the toughest practice of my life

Only about 16 more poses, though, until I'm doing the entire series every day. I counted 75 total poses (although this is not exactly true, as many poses should be double-counted since you have to do them on both sides of your body). I'm up to 59 or 60. Pretty cool!

Going biking and running later today. Haven't ran since... Sunday? My body and mind have felt fatigued, and even though my mind loves running, it respects how harsh it is on your body. But this evening is gonna be a great run! I am very much looking forward to it.

Gym full blast cardio, squats lunges and day 6 of ab core challenge.
