How did you get into Electronic music?

hey KK, and other chi heads... tomorrow!

"Tomorrow night production powerhouse duo Designer Drugs headline the inaugural 18+ dance party Delorean Nites at Lincoln Hall alongside residents Midnight Conspiracy, et al, and we couldn’t be more pumped. New Yorkers and iheartcomix labelmates Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson sure are mysterious as hell, though, and beyond their gritty, hard-pounding electro tracks.. I couldn’t find out much about them. But whatever, all we need to know is that these guys fucking rock. Find out for yourself!"

Midnight Conspiracy is a group one of my boys is part of.... should be a good show

edit: I know normally this would go in events but since so many chi heads are in the thread currently I thought I would throw this up here so more people would be likely to see it.

When I put down my bass and guitar and put my hands on a Synth. That's all it took.
Now I have the world of sound in my hands.MUHAHAHA

Mine was of Paul oakenfolds Tranceport 1 (his best mix compilation) and the track was Gamemaster.....

Just say what the EMD track was that got you into the culture of EMD and the scene surrounding it..... %)

I'd have to say infected mushroom/younger brother. Didn't listen to a while lot of electronic until my friends had me listen to heavyweight. My first rave was younger brother. I give both equal credit (all credit would be to infected, but the show I was going to see was cancelled).

Gene Farris - The Spirit (DJ Sneak Mix)

Before I heard this track and the compilation it was in, I was already going to parties. But before hearing La Fleche - Montreal Mix Sessions CD, I didn't really get into EDM that much. I was mostly going to parties to get high on drugs. After hearing the The Spirit, my life changed. 9 years later, I still love house and most other electronic music.

it was on college radio and i was like 16.... i was tripping face at the time on psilocybin at the time driving down back windy roads when it came on . it was cool for about 50 secs.... then i realized i was listening to techno.... so i turned it off. my love affair with techno lasted 50 secs.

A friend played me Aphex Twin and I was hooked. By the way, saw him live in Detroit and he played Come to Daddy before it was released!

I liked a lot of electronic music before I ever really got into it. I first heard in in my uncles car in the early 90s, he played a lot of it but I remember Cubik by 808 State the best. I remember hearing Daft Punk, The Prodigy and Sandstorm in the 90s and liking them. But I mostly listened to rap and rock at that point.

It wasn't until about 2005 when I really fell in love with it. The first time I tripped on shrooms, one of my best friends played Dark Side of the Moon, and "On The Run" blew my mind. Then a few months later we were tripping again, and different friend was with us.

He asked me if I liked acid, and I thought he was talking about the drug. He told me that he was talking about the music and played some of it, and a lot of other stuff too, like Thievery Corporation, Depeche Mode, and Little Fluffy Clouds by the Orb. I loved pretty much all of it, but Firestarter (Empirion mix) by The Prodigy was my favorite song he played. I heard that and I knew I was in love. So, that's how I got into electronic music. My friends introduced me to it.

I saw The Orb live and little fluffy clouds (live remix) blows even the most sober mind. If you liked that try the album Bicycles and Trycycles.

Always enjoyed 90's house, dancey kind of music that was popular in that era as I grew up with it along with the typical Chemical Brothers and Prodigy.
Then in school among my group of friends Hardstyle became pretty popular so I started getting into the common artists such as Angerfist and Noisecontrollers. I then expanded this and found out I preferred trance more, although hardstyle is still one of my favourite genres.
I then continued listening to various kinds of trance/hardstyle/hard dance/electronic and found an amazing GOA Trance complication and quickly realized I preferred it to any other kind of music, despite not having even tripped at this point. Despite tripping numerous times I have yet to properly listen to PsyTrance and GOA Trance while tripping as I prefer the likes of Chemical Brothers where you can just relax and stare in awe at the lovely visuals and sounds it provides.

i attended detroit's electronic music festival when i was fifteen while rolling balls and fell in love.

i don't listen to a lot of electronic music very often though. i've got to really be in the mood for it orrrr be altered.

but i love it when i do take the time to appreciate it :)

I was into Pink Floyd and just about nothing else as a teenager. This was late eighties. My best friend advised me that a new type of music had appeared and was appealing to "disillusioned rockers" so I went along to a club night, Pure in Edinburgh. I took E and danced my nut off for six hours. Thanks Iain.

Daft Punk drew me into the scene more, and then I got into progressive house and got into BAM BAM and shit like that (hey, he USED to be decent)..... Then Dieselboys Sixth Session (I believe thats the name of that mix) got me fully into jungle and dnb.... I went through the jaded junglist phase for about 5 years and then started getting into Dubstep after hearing Bassnectars first couple releases, shortly after fully immersed my self into electro/fidget thanks to Crookers, the Crooks Remix of Don Remini's Lemme Back Up got me hooked and I havent looked back..... electro and fidget is my number 1 with dubstep following closely behind....

edit: hellocatastrophe, whats up my adopted BL'er!

Well my dad use to blast Daft Punk and Fat Boy Slim in the car all the time, then when I became a teenager i decided to listen to some electronic music, found out about hardstyle, electro house, trance, dubstep, ect. And now I'm in love.
