Opioids How dangerous is Poppy Tea really?

Hello,

can anybody tell me how dangerous this tea really is? I was thinking about trying it, but I am a little bit scared because of the variety of the morphin concentration in the poppys.

Here's a link to a poppy tea related dead. http://www.poppyseedtea.com

Sorry for my bad english ;)

I also have not much experience and no tolerance with opioids/opiates. The only things that I tried was a few times Tilidin, 1x low Dose Codeine and a few Kratom experiences.

short answer? not very.

long answer?

all psychoactive drugs have their risks. poppy seed tea just happens to not be so potent.

but in the end, an opiate is an opiate. all you're doing is taking a small dose of morphine.

It's a potent opiate in unknown concentrations, so it's not very safe. The other issue with it is that it takes a long time to peak, so a lot of people will take more before the original dose peaks, which is where things get dangerous. A lot of people get sick from taking too much, and unfortunately others fatally overdose from it.

that site doesn't directly tell you that he also had xanax in his system, which is very misleading.

it's not that unsafe, it's safe like heroin is, you never know the potency.

If you always have the same supplier, generally the seeds are consistent and once you have a tolerance you have a threshold for higher potency seeds if you happen to get some. Always take it slow though, shit lasts forever anyway.

In short, poppy tea is relatively safe while poppy seed tea is not. The morphine content of poppy heads vary a lot less than with the seeds. You should go with pods if you want to try it, the effects are more enjoyable too.

i've OD'd on pod tea, and on an extraction of sorts that i completely misjudged the potency of.
both times i was very, very, very ill (incapacitated, pounding headaches, vomiting) for somewhere between 24-48 hours.

when did this with pod tea, i was being stupid, and took a third dose for the day (rather, i took three times what i would normally take, over the course of the day).
if you are careful, you'd be unlikely to do this accidentally. yes, pods (and seeds) are very variable - but if you start low, i'd say that pod tea is a very safe drug (as far as drugs go). you can effectively re-dose on it (unlike, say, codeine) so START SMALL and you'll be fine.

however, to take your question another way, pod seed tea is very dangerous if you are looking to avoid addiction.
it is hard to break, the withdrawals can last for weeks, and it can be quite hard to cut yourself off from suppliers of said seeds.
the danger is in the ease of access. nobody is immune to addiction.
opiate addiction is not the end of the world, but it might not be a path you want to take in your life. all worth considering i guess.
play safe :)

When I was deep in poppy addiction, a few times I felt close to OD a few times but never did. The real danger is addiction. PPT WD is horrendous. Becoming a slave to the pod is hell.

I'm in the blessed circumstance that I'm a happy poppy pod tea user without any opioid addiction issues. I use pod tea once every few months.

Key is with Poppy tea that less is more. If I take a modest amount of poppy tea I get high. If I take twice that amount however, I may get twice as intoxicated but not nearly twice as euphoric - and I'm guaranteed to get a whole bunch of side effects.

I know that 20 grams of ground poppyhusks as a tea get me higher, but I never dose outside the 3-10gr range, because side effects of high doses just kill the fun. I dont want nausea and vomiting. I don't want to pass an ostrich egg on the toilet the next day. I dont want stomach and bowel cramps.

So, I settle for a medium dose and enjoy a moderate high without all those negatives - and that works great for me.

as many others have said its the potency thats questionable. In the past I used to do poppy seed tea a lot. I would buy a certain amount and it would get me decently high. However, one day I bought a batch from the exact same store in the same quantity. I took it later in the evening. When I "woke up" in the morning i had the smallest pupils I've ever had, I couldn't stay awake to save the life of me, i'd be falling asleep pissing and such. Honestly I'm lucky it wasn't an overdose.
If you're dead set on trying poppy seed tea take it SLOWLY. It comes on sooooooo slow. An hour may pass and you might feel nothing, so you take more. But come the two hour mark you're dangerously blasted, and at that point it could be too late. be careful, tread lightly. poppy seed tea is a bit like playing Russian roulette.

I know you are not supposed to supply sites, but is it really hard to find decent pods anymore? I remember using a site over a year ago and those seem to work, a poster off here gave me the name of the site. However, the last few months I have tried site after site and either my tolerance is way too high, or I just get bad pods. My tolerance is a lot higher, but I have also used 10 large pods for one cup and never felt anything. I am hearing you have to buy pods from international sites anymore for the good ones, that ones in the US are not good. Is that true? The ones I have been using have all been US ones.
The last time I did feel something from them I was just kinda tired and lazy, but I never achieved a nod from Pods. My tolerance is high now though because of tramadol. I have been hooked to them for over a year, they dont do anything for me anymore so I just take them to keep from getting sick. I wanted to use pods as a way to come off tram, its such a pain to make the tea that I figured it might keep me away from doing it so much. Plus, I dont really care for the nodding type buzz all the time like I did a tram buzz.

yes it is hard when they aren't in season and they sell quick, very quick. They are unreliable as old hell now too. You're probably getting bad pods which is good cause your tolerance is lower now :) Tramadol won't jack your tolerance near as bad as poppy tea. Try codeine to come off the tram and use loperamide, or maybe switch to kratom as it's kind of like tramadol in feeling. It's a stimulating high too.

I find pod tea somewhat stimulating too, not that much as trams though.

i ordered 2 lbs. of pods last year and although one batch was significantly better than the other, they were both good. this year i ordered a lb from the vendor i thought had the better ones last year, and they worked, but barely. they are like 1/3 the strength they had last season. i have heard pods were just weaker for some reason this year, and i have no clue what would cause that. hopefully next year they are good again. i agree this years crop have been "no nod pods" compared to last years. they do vary alot too.

I've almost stopped breathing off pods a number of times. A few times were from pods alone - new batch of heads were REALLY strong. The other times were either mixing them with methadone or diazepam/xanax/clonaz and pregabalin. Pods are quite hard to get off also.

wow, people are still doing that? i thought everyone moved on since it became illegal, and i haven't seen it being sold in the dark corners of the internet.

I moved on to better opiates once tolerance got to a certain point and I was fed up of glugging down mouthfuls of poppy tea. It is a fantastically rounded opiate high though.

^your kidding... if you have google and know how to look up dried pods, youll find them. its not rocket science.

Apart from addiction and obvious side-effects of opiate use, no real harm on a theoretical level, if hygiene, diet, exercise etc. are maintained. The poppies could be sprayed with toxic and very harmful pesticides, though. And of course, there are many indirect dangers involved with all psychoactive substances that should be considered. But from my experience, my most controlled opiate use, with least physical and mental side-effects was when I was drinking poppy tea on a weekly-daily basis. Now I have moved on to more refined connoisseur stuff, like heroin. Haha... not a good joke, but it may lead down that road too... be careful. Much more to be said, but I am sure many others will come with viable input, also consider what posters above are saying.

NOTE: Although I have made poppy seed tea, I am referring to pod tea here for the most part. Seed tea is marginally more disgusting than pod tea IMO, and more uncontrollable in terms of dose, as others mentioned.
