How dangerous is medetomidine on its own?

I know that this drug is being added to other opioids and benzos which makes them more deadly, but how dangerous is medetomidine on its own? Let’s say medetomidine 10mg/kg.
 
i cannot find any Medetomidine xylazine alone users, its 100 percent just a contaminant of dope supply, i know its got the zombie tranq open wound thing as bad look but non injection use? i looked around for rec xylazine users and not seeing any. I'm not going to lie these drugs sound interesting on paper
 
It is an alduterant cutter typically mixed with Fent in my city. Its 100x or more stronger than xylazine, so 10mg/kg would kill you a thousand times over, but when they get the dose right ppl just fall asleep standing up off of a few micrograms. The Xylazine was making their limbs fall off so I guess this is better, but I feel bad for the poor souls chasing the dragon still. The W/D's from the tranq substances are apparently multiple times worse than opioids too.
 
I would like to know who the genius is that came up with the bright idea of even contaminating the fentanyl supply in the first place. Don't they know that it is highly dysphoric and nobody would even enjoy it? I just want an explanation I'm just curious what the justification would be

The original concept came from an arms race. One particular US city self-declared that they are "ground zero." They pride in having the strongest dope on the east coast. Someone realized that spiking the fentanyl supply with tranquilizers would potentiate the opioid. They didn't give a shit that it was making people W/D 10x worse and form grotesque sores, but it caused a surge of amputations and decimated the client base.

I was an IV user who luckily quit dope in a few years before Xylazine or Medetomidine emerged. Most friend who used died before Xylazine saturated the supply sometime between 2016- 2020, and I don't contact the rest. I drove through my old running grounds a few years ago on the way to a concert and the sights were just sad. There was a lot less people and they looked to be in worse shape than I remember and a weirdly higher % was straight up disabled. Tons of wheelchairs, amputees, and people who could not get around very well. Groups of bodies and a few random individuals were scattered around the sidewalks from presumably losing consciousness from drugs. I was worried that seeing the old neighborhood would make me want to go back, but it was the opposite and I just felt a tremendous amount of pity for ppl stuck in the current meat grinder. I researched online and learned about the Xylazine era of the Fentanyl epidemic. Using "Heroin" or whatever the fuck I was given in 2012-2016 took me to jail, homelessness, a few overdoses, and was a shitty few years but injecting something that you know is going to eat your skin is a straight up horror story. I can't fathom what it would have felt like to get off of dope and be missing a limb(s) from an amputation caused by injecting drugs.

I think medetomidine is generally better purely because it doesn't eat your skin, but the "Heroin" supply is now almost exclusively Fentanyl that is 50-100x stronger than morphine, mixed with medetomidine that is 2-300x stronger than Xylazine. A flake or spec that can barely be seen of either substance is fatal to someone who has low/no tolerance. A bag weighing .01g can potentially contain pure fentanyl which would also most/all high tolerance too, and the people cutting it are not typically qualified chemists capable of achieving even distribution in every bag. No one in their right mind would start using these drugs now, and the vast majority of users still doing this shit are the poor souls who have been hooked to the point that not having drugs is scarier than death. I don't think Opioids draw in a fraction of the new customers around here. They caused such gross side effects and became so lethal that it has lost all appeal to new users.

Looking at the big picture it's pretty sad things ended up like this. I personally feel fentanyl doesn't deserve the respect of even being an opiate/opioid. It's a toxic chemical and it's more dysphoric than euphoric for sure
 
From what I gathered, people that go to the emergency room withdrawing from fentanyl that is laced with that garbage, end up being put under in ICU for the length of the acute withdrawal and they are given some form of medotomidine for withdrawal guess it's really bad on the heart and rhythm
