Honestly, I always hear people say they have been doing H, or other opiates for 5+ years and I am just curious if there's some secret to supporting a habit for this long.
I know I shouldn't be doing opiates and they only lead you to a hole, but I am at a point in my life where I have little responsibilities and a lot of spending money.
But I feel I am naturally gravitating towards quitting them because I just cannot seem to afford them.
Here is my short history with opiates:
Last December I started doing 80s daily, and by April 1st, I was doing 2-3 80s at once, 2-4 times a day.
I went to rehab and detoxed like hell for 17 days. After leaving rehab I was clean until the end of august when I found suboxone, which was extremely cheap compared to my previous habit.
This was good for a month and then they stopped working so I moved back to 80s, which got to be to expensive again in only one week, and after stopping for a day I started to withdrawal again so I decided to try H.
This was amazing and cheap at first. $10-20 and I would be content.
At the beginning of December I had been using H for around 3 months and I was snorting 7-8 bags in one line, and it was only getting me high for an hour. I was consuming a brick in 2 days.
Now for the past month and a half I have been using subs regularly, yes I will admit I occasionally stop for a couple days and sneak a dose of H in.
But I have just naturally lost the drive to get high because I cannot justify using all of my spending money in just a couple days, to barely even get that high because my tolerance is so messed.
I never made the move to needles because I knew shooting 3 bags would get me high at first but I figured in a month my tolerance would be just as high as it is now, and the withdrawal would set in that much faster and be that much worse.
So I'm wondering is my tolerance so high because of my use of 80s in the past? Or is shooting really the answer? Does tolerance increase slower with IV use? Or do people misrepresent their use (i.e. I've been using for 6months combined but would say one year and exclude my sober time)? Do I just use to frequently? Is taking subs when you can't afford H in an active habit just keeping your tolerance to high? How can you hold a job and go through withdrawal (which would lower your tolerance right?)?
Is there something I am missing, or does having an opiate addiction just really suck this bad after only 3-6 months?
