Housework

Agree, Lacey. A huge difference between mess and dirty. I don't mind untidiness; i do, however hate dirtiness. Even if there is opened mail, or just general stuff on the dining room/coffee table, or on the kitchen bench, that doesn't both me *as much* as a dirty splashback/benches/floor/bathroom.

I don't mind keeping the kitchen bench/splashback clean, i don't mind washing/hanging out clothes. I hate dirty, but i hate cleaning. So Pop (my fiance) and i will be investing in a cleaner when we move into our new place. Similar to Busty - once a fortnight - mop/vacuum floors, clean the bathrooms, dust surfaces, give the kitchen a once over. We both work long hours; we leave home at 7 and don't often get home until 6-7, sometimes later, depending on project deadlines. I really value my weekends, so don't feel like spending a whole heap of time cleaning the house.

I have a white cat who sheds a heap, so I would be vacuuming more than once per fortnight anyway.

As it is now, we do bits and pieces over the week (Pop is great around the house, which is awesome). I've built a bit of a reputation in our group of friends for being a clean freak at parties... i'll wash up as i go if we have a bbq (at our place or at someone else's house). It's been said more than once that if i'm at a party, guaranteed that when everyone wakes up the next day, the house will be clean. :)

I hired a cleaner in March, but got rid of her in May as I was giving her $10 per week and she spent three hours two days va week doing a worse job than I do in 40 minutes.

My girlfriend stays over 5 nights a week and I sometimes have to physically restrain her from compulsively cleaning the place:)

Oh yeah I know what you mean, my mom does the same thing and after she cleans, my stuff is nowhere to be found, and I gotta mess it all up again to make it work. :)

I hate housework with a passion, pet hates include dishes and ironing.
I removed the plug from the iron about 3 years ago and put it on a heater. I do not iron. I do have to do the dishes but I do it once a day once it has all built up and get it over with.

The rest of it, well I have kids, between them I get them to do wiping of skirting rails etc, after hoovering or sweeping floors, I get them to tie cloths on their feet and slide up and down to buff up the floor.
everything else is done as and when it needs it to stop me bitching about having to do it.

I would have a cleaner if I could afford one. 3 days a week for 1 and 1/2 hours would cover it.

I used to be OCD about cleaning, I could zoom in on a crumb from 20 paces, not now been cured, but tending towards avoidance now.

I used to be rabid with the cleaning. Every weekend I would deep clean the whole house (which took me about 4 hours in 1200 sq feet) and then cringe when it got out of order.

I used to feel overwhelmed and then pissed off that I was not getting any help which was silly because I never asked for any from my husband and when he did help I freaked as he was not doing it right. Crazy, huh? He is not a slob or else I would pissed that I had a child not a partner so it makes it easier.

I have realized there is more to life than cleaning. Right now the main room (it is open concept) could use a dusting but I left the room so I won't look at it. Once the sun changes location it will not be noticeable!

Our house looks fine on a daily basis. No one is dropping by to do an inspection!

I wipe stuff down daily if I see obvious ick.

I do the scrubbing once a month now. If we are having company then I will wait until that day or the night before to clean. I might vacuum the floor and dust twice a month due to our pets. Laundry happens once a week...usually during the week when I get home early from work. In fact there is laundry from Thursday that has yet to be folded and put away.

When we bought this house, we agreed that I would take care of the indoors and he the outdoors (2 acres). Fair trade as I do not want to do yard work.

Our house has three floors, three bathrooms, and about 2000 sq feet so there is no effin way I tackle it all at once. I pick a floor once a month plus one bathroom and do it up.

Oh I tend to drink alcohol and blast music while cleaning. Sativa is the best for cleaning when I have it.

dirty is like...unsanitary. like, you got a dog or a cat and they piss or shit on the rug and you just put a paper towel over it and let it dry and leave it like that

lol oh gosh no, that is just nasty. When I say I don't mind dirt I definitely don't mean stuff like that.

^Pretty much my way. :) Anything that would smell, rot, attract flies after awhile, etc. Gets cleaned up. But screw wasting a day slaving away cleaning the entire house.

oooh Im a complete and utter neat freak (Not quite OCD but not far off)

I hate it when anything is out of place and even go to the bother of lining my tins and jars up all facing the same way and (normally in height order).

Daily
Dust / kitchen tops/ sink / Bathroom sink / toilet / cooker after using

two three times a week
Vacuum / Full Bathroom

Weekly
Floors get scrubbed, paintwork / doors cleaned, kitchen units cleaned.

Every couple of weeks
Windows / kitchen units emptied cleaned and put back (neatly :D)

If your life is too short for housework your sleeping too much !

Not so much we sleep too much, more there are so many other things to do, like splacsh in puddles, play on that tree swing, see what you can make from an old plank of wood. there are so many other excuses or than just sleeping:)

It rained today...finally but the outside still looks like shit.

My husband takes care of the vehicles. He said enjoys that kind of cleaning. I don't really care about my car like he does his. However I will admit mine is need of detailing. It has Eggo crumbs and dog hair in it plus a stinky smell from my sneakers.

I think the best thing to do is clean up every time a mess is made; that way you won't find yourself dedicating one or more days to cleaning a huge mess. It takes five minutes to wash dishes after a meal and five minutes to throw clothes into the washer and remove them from the dryer. True, it's easy to skip these acts in favor of the extra few minutes if you work hard all day or have little time but I recommend continually cleaning bit by bit so none of it piles up and becomes a huge chore.

Oh yeah, I find that the monotony of it all can be lessened if the TV or radio is on while cleaning.
