Homeboys getting jiggy with it

Actually, rikidozan, I do like my hip hop. I understand the try-hard "keep it real" sentiment, because I grew up listening to hip hop and reading hip hop media, so I used to be like that too. Then I woke up & realised that all the "I'm cool" posturing & "keeping it real" had absolutely no relationship to what sounded good to my ears. I love my music, so I let my ears tell me what's good, not some restrictive idea of what falls into hip hop & what doesn't. "Yeah, that's good, we'll claim that as ours. That's wack, it belongs somewhere else." You sound like the Aussie media chasing after a fucking celebrity.
So rikidozan, 'cause I'm a sport, & I know you like a laugh, would you care to hear what other gems of "hip pop" I have in my collection?? Yep, that's right, I own a Hammer tape, an MC Young tape, & ooh, there's even a Kriss Kross single or two... Ooh! Ooh! I've even got DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - "And in this corner...". You'll have to help me out on that one, 'cause I believe it might be borderline seeing as it was before they blew up...
So, as you can see, you are cooler than me. Your music tastes are so much more underground than I could ever dream of being.
Cheers,
Ben.
PS. I believe that 3rd Bass lyric is "hip hop got turned into hit pop". Please, seeing as you're so hip hop, find the respect for the originators to use the correct term.

Hmmm this is very interesting.
I was a goodbar one thurs nite, and didn't realise it was a hip-hop nite. anyways i was asked 3 times if i had pills on me. this surprised me for 2 reasons:
1) i dont look/act like a dealer (or do i...??)
2) i never thought people will pill to hip-hop. it never even occured to me.
Anyway i dont like hip hop myself and left within an hour or so, but i learnt something that nite

what keep it real attitude?
i am saying my own opinion that I think Q-tips new music is wack, mainly because of the route he has taken which has led to the downfall of his beats.
i think you've taken it so out of line brother, just because I know a bit about hip-hop and dont like Q-Tip anymore, you start all this shit. fuck you.

Yeah, you expressed an opinion of Q-Tips music, & that's fine. I didn't have a problem with that. Here's what I had a problem with:
"like you wack hip pop peeps"
"i think your wack, because you like Hip-Pop, not Hip-Hop"
"if you liked your hip-hop you would understand all this"
Sorry, shitty week & all that.

"Straight outta' Locash,

Sorry, I had to slip it in.
E has been really big in the North American rap scene for at least 6years. They just don't refer to it in many rhymes because E isn't very popular amongst their target audience. (ie urban afro-Americans) ...
or if your cynical (upper middle class white boys from the suburbs who would like to be lower class black guys from South Central L.A.)
