Hello Bluelight! I am a long time lurker that decided to sign up after reading a thread I felt compelled to reply to. The topics on this forum are engaging and I have a great deal of respect for this site's harm reduction ideals.
A little background. I have been a Deputy Sheriff in Ohio (USA) for nearly 13 years as of this month. I am married to a wonderful girl (02/2002!) and we have three great kids together.
My background in "drugs" may be a little more difficult to explain. I was hit by a car while on duty, and prescribed oxycodone following some fairly minor surgery (considering the speed of the impact, I was very lucky to have sustained no serious injuries). I quickly developed an addiction to this medication, and am (still now) on methadone (MMT). At my methadone clinic, I've met a lot of people who feel police officers are some how above drug addiction and drug use and this simply is not the case.
I really hope I can learn from the membership of this website, and that you'll give me a chance to get to know you, as a fellow human being...as a person truly committed to reducing unnecessary deaths through education, understanding and tolerance.
I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to read & reply.
Pete
