Heroin usage and normal lives

I would say meth is or is approaching to be a drug epidemic in the usa

Was a successful chipper for years, some tragic events lead me to saying fuck it and picking up a habit. 2 trips to detox later and here I am chipping again. It sucks. You plan your use. A few days out the the week is the only time you feel normal, the rest of your time is spent trying to busy yourself. It drives you mad. It fucking drives you mad. Your body doesn't feel sick but you feel sick in the head.

^Like this.

You may think you can handle H now, but what about if live events change and you get into a not gving a shit mode. Then you have H to fall back on, then, your're fucked.

I've seen it in myself, after breaking up with my GF, I'd drink ontop of darvoct because i found it increased the buzz a lot. Alcohol and all that APAP is not cool. Similarly, I couldnt be arsed to do CWE on my 30mg/500mg codeine tabs. So I'd just take the 4mg APAP off the bat. I was nowhere near suicidal, I just stopped caring about myself so much (showered less often, brushed my teeth less). Now im outta that rut but im glad i had nothing harder to fall back on than alcohol and codeine.

Some H users start when the're lives are shit. Some start when there lives are fine, then something happnes (maybe un-H related, break up of marriage, loss of a loved one, work problems) and you have some thing that can immediately make you feel better, rather than working through your probs. The 'I dont give I fuck' attitute after your GF fucks your best mate and takes your kid away is what leads from 'weekend use' to come down from the E, to daily use. To you then not giving a fuck about anything and turning to the needle.

Seriously consider it. I dont know how old u are (im late 20's) but I'm sure life has a lot more shit to throw at me/you. You'd be better off dealing with it using other resources than herion which willl be very tempting at the time.

Unless I was on my death bed/had a few months to live, I wouldn't touch that shit. And that goes for crack-cocaine as well.

Good luck,

SS

I'm 23 and I know life has more shit to throw at me. That's why its so hard to put down that needle for good. I dunno what it is, but that spike, wets my fucking whistle...

Good point. I hadn't even thought about that...

dont do it it can make you lie to yourself and you arent hooked until you are and its too late you dont see it coming. If you have a void in your life that needs filled i cannot recommend opiates because it will just take over your life not fix it. this is almost 9 years of iv experience talking.. just stick with the occasional oxy or whatever comes your way.. and if you wanna snort bags just leave the needle to the "addicts" cuz its a surefire way to get hooked for good.. im trying to quit and its nearly impossible

I think that if you still have a strong desire to try it, i second the sentiments that you start with hydrocodone or oxycodone first. codeine to heroin is a giant leap. Now that's not to say that those aren't addictive, but they are probably a little less addictive. not to mention the fact that you can take them orally and know the dose you are taking. it might also prove to be a better litmus test of how likely you would be to fall prey to the heroin monster.

the thing i've found, with smoking heroin at least, is that its very very compulsive. I didn't even really like it, because its basically like you're smoking all night chasing that high that lasts a few minutes when the smoke first hits your lungs. so i can see how easy it would be to keep buying more and more because you just want a good hit.

i strongly agree with the legalization of heroin. the effect this would have on the black market as well as organized crime would be unimaginable. from gangs in cities to drug lords in foreign countries with 90% of the countries wealth. and it would be pharmaceutical heroin, and therefore not cut with fent, causing one in two to OD. or be neurotoxic in that matter.

this would help the economy greatly, in huge cost cuts in the war on drugs to the huge taxation of legal heroin. similar to alcohol and cigarette tax.

also, addiction is seen by some to be a rational choice, and heroin in particular, a victimless crime. in that there is no harm to others. i cannot foresee an increased in crimes of individuals under the influence of heroin. i say this because people will be nodding in the couch rather than beating their kids after returning from a bar.

however i believe there should be regulations, similar to no purchasing of alcohol on sunday or past 9pm. for example, a license may be required for the purchase of heroin, which is obtained after taking some form of a harm reduction course. or there must be a mail order, with a 3 day delay, which will solve the 14 year olds paying bums to buy them beer equivalent. or a limit to monthly purchase, which would in no way affect addiction, but stop possible distribution of the purchased heroin.

just some thoughts from a class i've been taking called mafia in college.

It's one of the few drugs i've done that is a little too good. I let it take over my life.

Just remember "Drugs fuck you up." In more ways than one , haha. :P

I've had experience with codiene. I've found it nice and warm, I can see how some people would get addicted to the stuff if they weren't careful.

If I was to do it it'd be once and then not again for a long time. I couldn't risk doing it as a weekend kind of thing, or even monthly.
Yea that's what I sad 5 years ago,no meter what you do don't shoot up,but better don't try dope at all

my 2 cents.
If you have a family history of drug/alcohol addiction then chances are that you too will become addicted to something, anything.
Use your common sense. as a rule I have never used more than 3 or 4 consecutive days without at least a weeks break.
Do not use to escape depression or to overcome emotional problems. thats what whiskey is for=D
Here is a warning. Once you taste the ole boy, you will love it. DO NOT INCREASE YOUR DOSE TRYING TO GET THAT FIRST TIME HIGH!!!
to achieve the initial rush, just simply give your body a break for a while.
Use a tiny amount at first to see how your body reacts to it.
I dont know of anything that is so addicting that you will get hooked the first time using. But there is a physical dependence and a mental.
Again, if you find yourself using more and more to get the desired buzz then it is time to give it a rest. this is the first step to becoming an addict.

And always refer to BL before using anything new. This place is great and Im sure it has saved countless lives.;)

Interesting point of view. But I would suggest not being avail. such as in a liquor store....Perhaps be a registered user and the use confined to a clinic such as a Methadone clinic with professional assistance in a sterile atmosphere. Controlled dosage as well as vein care..
We can dream right?

You'd have to be getting pretty crappy quality street smack for it to be neurotoxic. :\

I, for one, am for the legalization of most drugs. Lowered prices and easier availability would end a lot of the social ills currently associated with them, and I'm willing to bet OD's would drop a whole lot, making them a safer choice then alcohol and tobacco.

Which is exactly the point I'm trying to make.

I will, if you promise to leave your bullshit rhetoric behind. You aren't the only one who's been doing years of research on the matter. My statements only seem biased because this entire forum is biased in the opposing direction.

My viewpoint is simple: addiction is based on MENTAL HEALTH, not any particular drug. The OP does not sound like a candidate for addiction. Let's not digress back to the 80s mindset; there is no "epidemic" of highly addictive drugs sweeping over and consuming the nation.

Your theory is extremely flawed, and you come off as extremely ignorant of opiate addiction. You claim that you if you are happy , then you will not become addicted to drugs. No matter HOW HAPPY and "WELL ROUNDED" you may be, continued use of opiates will leave ANYONE physically addicted. How could you ignore that?

And your "dug-addicted losers" comment only showcases your undesirable personality. MY THEORY of YOU, is that you are an unhappy person your self, and desires some form of attention, therefore you post purposely offensive and ignorant comments on the internet, just waiting be fired back upon. WOW, your fucking sad. I'd take becoming a hardcore strung out junkie than being a attention-whore loser like you.:p

I think he's differentiating between psychological and physical addiction... though I am loathe to step to his defense given his comments.
