Good on way to meeting. There was discussion of movies: Children of Men and BBCs Threads are 2 dystopic favorites. Drug wise Perry Farrels "The Gift" is my all time fave, but you tube I posted only showed some of it. "Drug Store Cowboy" and "Traffick" of course.

He was the importer, Corsican Mafia, made in labs around Marseille, impoted by La Cosa Nostra to NYC (The Italian Mob)? Maybe fleed to Lebanon, the "Paris of the Middle East" before things went to shit. The receipe went to SE Asia then Asian cooks were imported to Colombia. Thats why we have #4 in The Eastern US Seaboard and Chicago.

It's not posting IP addresses. It generates a brand new image with your IP address and browser details in it everytime. Anyone else who sees the image, sees their own details. A bit like file:///etc/passwd should show your passwd file, if you're on some sort of Linux or Unix -- but anyone else clicking the link will see theirs.

@jspun

You are so lucky living where you are, 72F sounds like heaven to me, I'm sure it will to all us Brits & Irish. It's prolly about a miserable 35F here, windy rainy and bloody freezing! :(

btw, what's your experience on NA meetings and the 12 step programme?Sounds a bit like the drug counselling project I go to, they have all sorts of support/advice projects like the NA meetings, alternative therapies (like accupuncture/ reiki/Indian head massage etc), one on one counselling etc, they don't prescribe any meds it is an additional support centre to the clinic where I get my scripts, where I don't get much time with the key workers there, prolly about 1/2 hour at most.

Anyway, at this centre I attend, they have NA meetings there but I've never attended them, never attended any meetings like that. I just go there for one on one counselling and the alternate therapies atm. Counsellor has mentioned NA meetings, but don't know if it would help, don't know how i'd get on with sitting in a group like "Hello... my name is Basket and I am a junkie" :o Then again I can see it would help, as you could swap snippets of info on how to stay drug free and that. I sort of see BL as my NA meetings lol i've learnt quite a few things since coming on here and met some sound as a pound ppl :D

They also mention the 12 step programme, I don't know much about this, is it like a faith based programme? as I not really a religious person mesself, so I don't know.

Just wondered if these programmes/meetings would help me out, I know everyone is different and different things help different ppl. I'll have to have a think about it.

You're doing a proper amazing job @ staying clean, keep up that good work! 18 days since you last had any subs? Wish I was in the same situ, hopefully will get there eventually.
In the last 2/3 weeks I've had prolly about .1 of gear, it wasn't all that either. Had a clean last time I went to clinic, they can test it there and then with the urine samples. They do the mouth swab tests as well, which they have to send off for results, I think they do them as well, as they a bit more accurate than the urine ones. Hopefully the taking the bits of gear now & again will get further and further apart, til I get down to taking either none at all, or once every blue moon.
If anyonwe would have known nme before, no-one would have thought I would be able to get off the stuff ever.
Anyway, gonna rush off out to the chippy for me tea, laters <3

@PP
but now i can , coz i can keep her... may she bring me more joy than the gear!!!!!

Thats the spirit. Glad your in better spirits.<3

Christ church now Japan- scarry pictures. Knows the time for humanity to come together in Unity and help each other out rather let our petty differences be disjunctive.

I hope for a world were love and compassion replaces hate and tyranny.

One can pray and dream.

Just waiting for the Tsunami- though It looks like the Chilean Coast is going to the brunt of it. In the USA Hawaii and Guam got through this relatively unscathed and surges are minimal on our west coast. Maybe I get out of the house and drive to the Ocean to see ho its effecting SD.

japan had it bad but they are asking for aid when they are one of the worlds richest countries
also-why do people keep building cities on fault lines, below active volcanos or where they have repeated natural disasters?
ok it would cost a heap to relocate everything but what price for all those dead?just don't make sense to me

@ pinky

ahhhh bless, you got a staffy? i used to have a staffy dog, he looked like a meat head version of the dog world :D but he was just a big softy. Gorgeous cute lil doggy. He was proper protective over me as well. Unfortunately he got arthritis in his back legs and had to be put to sleep :(

I'd love to get another doggy, but can't have pets where I live :(

I miss my Marley so much, you do get really attached to them, they become like a part of your family :)

I'll share my experience. At NA or analogous 12 step meetings you don't have to be clean only have the desire to stop using. This is the third tradition, anyone tells you otherwise you have a right to tell them "fuck off read your 12 and 12-in a loving and gentle way, of course.) The purpose of the meetings is to share a message of recovery. What is this message? its that an addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, loose the desire to use, and find a new way to live. Its a message of hope and freedom. They are spiritual and not religious programs. Spirituality has to do with how you treat yourself and others. Fellowship is imporatant and I would recommend young peoples meetings. Meetings are different everywhere in the composition of people, what brought them their but the disease is the same. To derive benefits its important to connect with people and go were you feel comfortable, young peoples meetings are good for young people because you can hang with people who have found a way of living and enjoying life without the use of drugs. You can take suggestions or not, leave the meeting at any time. Recovery, unlike structured pay for recovery program embodies an air of complete creative freedom. At good meetings people share experience strength and hope, not the disease- don't look at me I'm a poor example of the program (as they say, don't judge the progrm by its members, no one is a perfect saint, just sick people helping each other get better. In NA, AA, ect...everyone is equal despite years clean, its a truly eagalitarian society.

At an AA meeting last night, the speaker with 46 years sober, the secret according to Dr. Bob Smith is 3 things: To trust in God, Clean House, and help other alcoholics.

On the higher power front you are allowed complete freedom to choose a higher power. I know atheist in the program that choose the group and process as their higher power.

Its just important to find a group were you feel comfortable and can relate- I suggest get a schedule and check out many meetings. There are good people that will generally reach out and help you. Another benefit is that meetings are free. To get the full benefits takes work and I've been doing the bear minimum.

By the wat, the NA World Convention will be in San Diego this year (If we don't get swept away by the tsunami.)8o

If you have an hour clean turn around to the guy with a day or two clean and ask how he/or she did it.

Hope this helps.

Its all about living and enjoying life without the use of drugs.

So listen to your uncle.;)

You make a good point. I think its the natural beauty, view, proximity to the ocean, economic concerns, ect...shortsighted stuff. In Hawaii, a small group of people in the Puna district were building homes in the lava zone. You could normally see the lava flow into the ocean but state of Hawaii civil defense blocked access because a new lava flow had started a few months before. a house burned on thanksgiving day. Now I hear the volcano erupted shooting lava- wonder how many houses burned down?

I'm sure Japan can rebuild its not Haiti, but its cool when the world comes together and help a member in need- not necessarily through government funding when those assisting countries have economic problems in their own country. Providing assistance but not necessarily funding it. You make excellent points as usual.:)

Hi pinkpapaver! Dog sounds cool, and at least now you'll be able to bond with her properly. My P.I.C. has a Staffie, we got her from a rescue centre. She was rather sulky and nervous for the first week, like she was afraid she would have to go back to her cage; but when she realised she had a proper "pack", her personality changed altogether. Wouldn't swap her for anything!

@Pinky :) Woof~woof!!!! I'm delighted for you that you get to keep the dog!!! You can get so attached to them, the little sweethearts!!!! I would be lost without my gorgeous doggie!!! She is my world!! :D

@Kkattastic :) I can remember so clearly when i first came on this thread & your dog had passed away, it was so so sad, i truly felt for you, & i often wonder how your getting on since, i hope your ok. You seemed to have an amazing relationship with your dog, we get so attached to our pets, they are family.

I'm glad to hear that you are getting a new dog once the weather picks up, i think thats a great idea, you will never forget the dog that you lost but you will give another dog a warm & loving home, it will be a lucky doggie that gets to live with you!!! :)

@Everyone else, I hope everyone else on B.L. is keeping well!! Its so sad to watch the Tsunami on the news, its so tragic...... I'm not going to complain about not getting any strong H to~day, when i think of what those poor people are going through in Japan...... :(

My beloved pudding dog

Ppl used to cross to the other side of the road to avoid him , especially the pakistanis as lots of them hate dogs. was never viscious at all, just a complete softy. but i never thought he looked like the type of dog that would bite someones bollox off lol, he just loked cuddly and cute to me. he would just bark at ppl if they were acting weird & dodgy cos where i live it's proper dodgy, lots of weirdos and offits roaming about. so when i had me doggy, hardly anyone bothered me. he'd only bark, never to bite or snap at ppl.

Just read a story about the army dog handler in Afghanistan, the poor guy was killed and the dog died of a seizure the same day, like his pet was so distressed and heartbroken at seeing his master getting killed. that story made me cry, it's just amazing the faithful companion relationship between humans and their pets.

You see that avatar pic of the lil cat sat in my bathroom sink? that's a stray that followed us home one day, we gave her a drink o milk and some strips of chicken, we let her out the next day, expecting her to go back to her owner, but she kept coming back, miaowing at the door. this went on for a few months, she never seemed to return to any owner, tho I know cats can be buggers for having multiple homes so I've heard :) then one day she disappeared as quick as she had appeared. never saw her again :( We rang all the local charity run cat homes, RSPCA, the vets etc, but nothing. I hope she just found her original owner and is living a safe and happy life somewhere, bless her little white furry socks lol

in wolvo we have a large pakistani presence and they usually avoid dogs cos if one touches them they become unclean and cannot go to the mosque unless they go home and wash first
cats go where they are fed and most comfortable-sure yours was very happy with you but they are not loyal like growlers and if someone else took a shine to her, maybe her original owner-well,i'm sure she is safe and well
maybe one day she will return-they never forget a good home

Hi Basket :) How are you to~day my dear?! The photos of your dog are so gorgeous!!! He had such a lovely shiny coat!!! Beautiful dog!!!! You can get so attached to them, they truly are woman/mans best friend!! No matter what, your faithful dog will always be there for you!! You must have been totally heart broken when he passed away, you miss them so much when their gone..... :(

The photo of the cat is cute too!! Yeah maybe she did find her way home, cats so often get lost when they wonder around. In some awful cases people will move house & just leave their cat behind, or else some people dump pregnant cats so far away from their home so they can never find their way back, its so sad, when you think of all the stray cats, most of them started off as someones pet, often owners don't even bother to neuter the cat, then owners often just get sick of the poor auld moggie & stop feeding them so the cats stray off & have kittens & then their kittens have kittens & so on.......

I have a dog, but i also feed all the stray cats in my area, i have 8 main strays that i feed every day & i have beds for them in my shed, they are totally wild but they know me so they will come right up to me, also there are a good few other strays around who pop in every now & again for a feed. When we had that bad snow i could hardly keep up with all the stray cats that came around for warm milk & food daily!! Poor little Sweethearts!! I love them all so much!!

I feed the stray cats in the back garden & i have a bird table in my front garden, again i have my regular birds that come down daily for food & a splash around in the bird bath!! They too are so cute!! :)

So you can just imagine my dog running from the front window & then to the back window, she is amazed by all the activity!!! I just love all animals!!! In the past friends have given out to me for saying this but sometimes i like animals more then i like people!! :)

But Basketcase your dog was a beautiful animal, i'm sure you must miss him so much :( Every dog has its own personality, as do cats. Would you ever think of getting another pet? I'm in a rented house so i'm not supposed to have any pets!!! (if my landlord only knew!!!! ;) ) But i've been getting away with it so far, fingers crossed!!!! But its always a worry that the landlord will find out about my dog!! XXX
