@Botfly: just catching up. I was one that went from smoking to slamming dope, back to smoking (do in part to the oxy craze and it being reformulated. There are less hypes (IV drug users than the early 90s when I first did it.) Opium is just as addicting. Thanks for the docu. The take home message is that the war on drugs has to be stoped- police, prisons, and perveyors are in a symbiotic relationship atleast in this country.

@basket et al- welcome any time. but been out of the scene a while. Chi-town seems to be the H capital (dope from all the major areas ends up their from what I've read on BL.), there they arrest you for cannabis, here Rx no prob. Vacouver, BC has the thriving street scene on the Eastside and is cannabis friendly. I've been out of the scene since 07' but going to meetings- so occasionally hear gear news about the scene- up until a year ago people here were crossing into Tijuana because there is a huge open air market for tar. However the situation could have changed, and you are more likely these days to be kidnapped in TJ than Aphganistan. Moved to North San Diego coubty lots of crystal meth, coke, cannabis and Rx opiate abuse- south every other person had an opiate problem. When I wen't to my first NA meeting, I was one of a small group of people that had opiate problems (by the beach), the Barrio, SE SD, City Heights districts, low income areas had the most people in recovery from heroin, at that time LA Jolla, a Beverley Hills by the beach had a small cadre of addicts-times have changed rapidly, Hope you doin well, like the music you posted.%) Congrats to you, day 18 for me off subs and I feel stronger every day.
I would liken opium to oil. The price of petrol (heroin) rises and supplies of it fall at the retail level (I susspect artificially to disruptions, real, predicted, or engineered). Except know one puts cut in the gasoline (unless you count ethanol)- in mexico some stations put allitle water or other addative with the petrol or used to.

Crazy shit in Libyia. Reagan bombed Libyia in 86' because he was sponsoring of terrorist (incuding the IRA and Red Army Brigade). The French, Italians, and I think Spanish denied I overflights. I was a 15 year traveling in Europe with my parents that year- everyone realy realy hated us that summer. Now the British and French are talking about enforcing a no fly zone, and the French who warned Gaddaffi in 86' were the first government to recognize the rebels as the legitimate gov of Libyia.8) The Italians apparently have intelligence assets on the ground. I hope the italians go in if military assistance is needed. I relish the thought of the Italians being thought of as neocolonial imperialists.
If there has to be a no fly zone I hope the US takes no part in it. And if ground troops are commited, hopefully no more "shores of tripoli," and Calderone doesn't wan't us "In the Halls of Montezuma", atleast he doesn't trust armed troops in his country.
I pray we sit this one out, cheer on the rebels, maybe provide Humanitarian relef from private groups but we've intervened enough in the last 100 years, we need a break. Anyway, we need a break. Cops have a hard job and keep us safe but the drug war is damaging their reputation in the community and causing unnecessary ill will. 20 Years ag0, when Chief of Police of LA Bill Gates was clamping down heavily on drugs (and selectively harrasing Latino and African American communities, relations with the police deteriorated ignighting violent riots in LA which spread around the country. All the while, the CIA, or members of were bringing cocaine in this country to raise money to arm the Contras, atrting the crack epidemic.

In this country we have LEAP (law enforcement against prohibition), we have The US Libertarian Party, and other political parties that want an end to the drug war. Legalize it! (I would be afraid to lobby my congressperson but I am clean from heroin.) Your reviled UKIP (which I know little about wants to debate and maybe implement heroin Rx).
Maybe the grass roots rather than individual approach is the way to start given the stigma attached to using illicits. Now, as pointed out, isn't such a bad time to get clean before the drought ends (which I thiught the lyrics of "Here Comes Sun'" analogous to the drought ending.
Simple= legalize Drugs= Less Oraganized Crime= less pety crime= better relationship with the police= less deaths= more money in the pockets of The People.
