Why does it smell like vinegar?

When snorting heroin, and sometimes even when IVing it (coming from your lungs), you may get a faint whiff or taste of vinegar. Occasionally, someone will ask if the strength of that smell or taste has any bearing on the potency of the heroin. The answer is no. The vinegar that you smell/taste is actual vinegar. Vinegar (acetic acid) is a byproduct in the process of manufacturing heroin. In the end of the process, if the heroin is cleaned properly, most of the vinegar is washed out, but more often than not, the smell still lingers. The strength of the smell only indicates how well the heroin was washed and nothing more.

Waterlining Tar

I am brand spankin' new to this site but I have combed thru the threads the past couple days and haven't really seen much about snorting tar. I have been using/abusing opiates for years and switched to H when my habit got to the point of me spending over $300 a day on OC's. Tar is all I can get in my area...don't see powder much... and my usual method is dissolving it in water and snorting it. I've shot twice but it freaked me out and my veins were extremely hard to find. I tried plugging twice yesterday...I had never even heard of it but saw it here and though I'd try it...huge waste imo. Didn't feel much of anything except maybe a slight body buzz.
Anyway, I been waterlining for a few months now and at first it was great. But a little over 3 weeks ago I lost my sense of smell and taste, and my nose is so fucked I have a hard time getting it up there, let alone keeping it in.
Has anyone else had these issues? It seems as if not many people on here use my same method regularly, but if anyone has any feedback on the issue I would greatly appreciate some input.

I know that I need to take a break and I'm an idiot for continuing to do it this way since it's giving me all these problems, but so goes addiction....can't stop, won't stop...

DXM question about Heroin

So I relapsed on heroin a little while ago. I bought a brick and I'm almost through it and i've been using 10mgs of xanax plus half a bundle to a bundle of heroin a day of some pretty high grade shit. Soon, I plan on getting off heroin once I run out. I don't plan on reupping. I am thinking of going to a doctor and getting some Clonidine for the hot/cold flashes and sweats, and I've got a little bit of subutex to get me through the withdrawls but not enough, that's my problem. I only have 1 8mg tablet and I can stretch that for a day or two but thats it.

My question involves DXM. I have a little bit of powder DXM that a friend gave me that he extracted somehow. I have about a gram I think. I still have a few hundred milligrams of xanax too. Does DXM do ANYTHING to alleviate withdrawal symptoms, and if so, what does it do? Would it take away any pain or mental fuckage? If so, what kind of dose should I mess with and what drugs can I mix with it to make the pain less severe?

I have heard about dxm helping with w/d before when used on a daily basis. I wish that i knew more about how it worked, but it cant hurt much. Just be careful with the extracted dxm, i would rather just take dxm in some other form. personally, i find the gel caps to be the best. just get some robotussin cough gels (whatever you but, just make sure it only has dxm in it, no tylenol or other crap) sucrets are good too. just remember if you get above 1.5 mg/kg in a single dose though you will start to robo-trip!

dxm can be good to take your mind off things and dissociate yourself from the pain of w/d but it might be contraindicated with w/d symptoms like high blood pressure so i would be careful taking a lot when you have strong symptoms still probably. i would recommend in the 100-200mg range.

it quite cracks me up how that sticky mega thread on heroin withdrawl that dude claims that with his 'guide to withdrawl' will make it pain free..

only way i can think of it being pain free is to be completely almost blacked out on benzos the whole time, then when its over you will withdraw from benzos

clonidine will make you feel better and slow down the detox..
but keep in mind its just slowing it down.. if it is at a tolerable (i know it never seems tolerable) level just let the detox go, i would recommend only using the clonidine if you are so sick you cannot get up to drink water/feed yourself, if you are hanging in staying alive i wouldn't even take the clonidine you'll just be let down that it takes so long and how it comes back worse when you run out of the clonidine..

Curious: Symptoms of Heroin OD

Hi

Just for my own knowledge I am curious:

If one is snorting heroin and starts to have too much in his/her system, would there be general warning signs prior to overdosing? To clarify, would there be symptoms present that would be a red flag to the user to stop taking more heroin and avoid the actual OD?

I know if you take too much oxy you get shaky, nauseous, sweaty and stuff like that. Is heroin the same?

I am not asking this to see "how much I can do before I OD". I do however tend to go overboard on substances easily. I realize that with heroin, this is not an option as you can very easily OD.

Please keep answers relating to snorting and possibly smoking the substance, not injecting.

There may be, sometimes there may not be. I OD'd on heroin (snorting) a few years ago and the only clue I had that I was doing too much was when I blacked out and OD'd. So be careful, you may not always get a clue beforehand.

This is precisely why I'm not a fan or advocate of sniffing scag - way too easy to OD. Fella in EADD OD'd sniffing smack just the other day. Posted in a thread saying he was feeling nice and itchy, next post was several hours later having just been released from hospital. You really don't get much warning - if any - of OD when sniffing it. I'd suggest smoking it - much safer as you'll generally pass out before you actually OD. You can certainly still OD smoking it but it really is pretty difficult whereas when you snort it it's really very easy

Thanks for the info, the only thing is I like the high from sniffing a lot better than from smoking. So I guess I'll just have to make sure to only do amounts that I have done before and been OK (providing it's the same batch that I'm using...)

Yeah, if you start low and titrate up to where you want to be then you can gauge it better next time as long as it's the same batch. Do that with any new batch and you should be okay. It's mostly when people just assume that the next batch of gear they get will automatically be fine to take the same dose of without checking it first that's probably the main problem.

In regards to nasal usage of H

I also am quite curious on warning signs with nasal usage. I tried this for the second time the other day and was also wondering if there are any signs at all to look for.
Typically, I can at least feel euphoria, itchy, noddy etc, from pharmie opiates such as oxy, hydro etc. I did 3/4 of what I believe to be a .1 bag for both experiences with heroin.
The first time I felt mildy sedated and nothing else. The second time, I felt about the same, snorting 3/4 of a bag in 3 lines over the course of an hour or so, besides the sedation and pinning of the pupils I experienced no euphoria, itchiness or the typical "opiate" feel that I've come to associate with pharmie opiates.
I wasn't sure if I was just under dosing or what the issue was, but considering there's no way to know the purity of the substance in question, and I wasn't that familiar with overdose signs besides passing out, etc. I declined to use more.
If anyone has more information on signs to look out for, some more elaboration would be great.
To give a bit more insight, the product in question "Star Track" was listed in the N&S America stamp thread as between 5-8/10 depending on reviewer.
Seeing as i can catch a mild buzz off 20mg of oxycodone, and a good nod at the 40+ region, I feel as if I'm missing something.
I know it would be speculation but would 3/4's of a .1 of said product be likely to cause effects in someone of my tolerance?
My gf who nods out on 15mg's of oxycodone also did 3/4's with eye pinning and mild sedation, but no nodding or euphoria.
So basically it comes down to 2 questions. Some more elaboration on the signs of O/D via snorting.
Also whether or not it seems like I'm missing something, is it normal for heroin to cause just mild/medium sedation?
Also of note my gf said I looked pale, and I felt relatively cold and shaky, but without a typical "opiate" feel or euphoria.
I didn't really feel like I was going to pass out or anything like that, as I didn't even feel noddy, so I found that somewhat odd?
About a week or 2 prior I had tried 5 and 10mg of methadone respectively with similar results, just some mild sedation and feeling kind of off, with no euphoria or typical "opiate" feel.
However I expected that with what I had read on methadone. I guess I just threw that in there to say that the H felt more like methadone with it's lack of euphoria, and somewhat "odd" feel to it, as opposed to the "opiate" feeling I get from oxy, or higher doses of hydro.
I always figured it would have the same euphoric properties of say oxycodone even if you are snorting the heroin.
I'm just vastly shocked that oral oc would blow snorted H out of the water in terms of euphoria.
Anyways any insight is appreciated, and sorry for the rambling.

IndustrialStrength, there could be a few different things going on here.

When I first did heroin, I did it very slowly, kind of like you. About one bag over an hour and a half IIRC. Did 1/4, 30 mins later another 1/4, etc. The second time I did the same stuff, I did half the bag at once and then 1/4 15 mins later, etc. The second time was much better. A lot of it is the rush. When you do dope very slowly and in small installments, you don't get the feeling of it hitting you all at once. That is the best part of the high.

With respect to you not nodding though, there could be a few possible explanations for this. You could potentially not be doing enough. The first two times I did heroin, I didn't nod. I hadn't been doing enough. In retrospect, the bags that I got the first time probably were also probably fentanyl, which probably didn't help. Fentanyl is known to be less noddy and less euphoric.

What is the color and consistency of your stuff? Good dope is usually a bit tan and flaky. When I first copped, my stuff was pale as snow and finely ground. In retrospect, most likely fentanyl.

I've tried oxys before and they're pretty enjoyable, but what I really want to try is Heroin.

I have a connection for it, but I'm reluctant to buy any until I'm fully confident in what I'm doing.

So I ask you all to help me out a little (this could be the wrong board to post this on, i dont know).

Should I snort, smoke or bang it for the first time?

I'm also confused about proper dosage of h.
I can't seem to find a reliable source.

Third, what should the purest heroin look like?

you should just enjoy your oxy. if you don't know anything about H, and don't know anybody who knows anything, you should not be banging it.

This post I made before has been quite relevant. For the love of God, yourself, future, and people around you do not try it.

I take it from your naive and cocky "I don't do low quality drugs period but I want to IV heroin and know nothing about it" you won't listen but I can only hope you will, it will save your life or at least not ruin it. Otherwise you will learn the hard way, and there is nothing harder and more destructive than being a heroin addict.

People say it's similar, I thought it would be similar and I used oxymophone and oxycodone plenty before ever touching heroin. I never had a problem with them and did them every once in a while. It was because of my assumption heroin would be very similar to oxymorphone and I would be able to control myself with it like I was with other opiates that I tried it.

DO NOT LET IT FOOL YOU AND DO NOT TOUCH HEROIN EVER. Heroin is completely different, the effects are similar but there is something indescribable about it that all other drugs lack which makes it incredibly addicting. If you don't feel it is so much better and different snorting then you certainly will when you inject it. I was on my way to becoming an addict the first time I snorted a bag and was IVing it within 14 days. I had experimented with a lot of drugs before and my one rule that I swore to myself I would never break was using needles and I broke that when i became a heroin addict.

My rationale for IVing was the same as your rationale right now for trying heroin since it's cheaper, I convinced myself it was ok since I would need less and it would be more efficient and cost effective. Well that didn't work out, soon my tolerance shot up (Edit: I hate going back to find I made some unintentional pun) and I was doing 10+ bags a day three weeks after touching it for the first time. You say you don't want to IV and just snort it? I think that's what everyone says when they first start using heroin and inevitably nearly all heroin users/addicts (same thing) will start injecting at some point when they want to save more money and feel more of a rush like their first time which they will chase constantly. if you start using heroin there is a near certain chance you will become addicted and start IVing. People who don't are rare exceptions.

Heroin is pure evil. Pay the extra money for the pharmaceuticals if you can use them recreationally unless you're already strongly addicted to opiates, in which cash heroin will just accelerate that addiction and turn it into a much bigger problem.
