Social Justice Here we go again: Killing of Rayshard Brooks by Atlanta police

you're admitting he wasn't a threat. Noted.
He was a threat. He punched a cop in the face, stole his weapon and discharged the weapon at police.

allegedly.
It wasn't allegedly. He drove drunk to the Wendy's and fell asleep in the drive-thru (because he was drunk).
Cops checked his record and saw that he had a violent criminal history.
He failed a sobriety test so police procedure was to place him under arrest.
That's where it should've ended.
I don't understand people trying to defend this guy? Or not admitting that his actions directly led to his own death.
You want justice for George Floyd? I will join you in that fight.
You want to claim this is similar and demonize police? GTFO.

I never understood how drug user can defend the biggest gang on the planet the fucking pigs acab ftp
You can disagree with some laws yet still support the concept of the police.
This is why people who wish to eliminate the police are so short-sighted.
It's funny because I talk to a friend of mine (black) who is ex-military and he thinks I'm too hard on police when I claim that there's almost certainly a substantial % of police who are psychopaths. But then when I speak to super-Lefties they say that I love police and am a bootlicker.

they spoke to him for 40 minutes and then tried to arrest him thats when he fought and went crazy. Now since jail in america is pretty bad and once you get in anyway it is very likely as a black person the system will fuck you in every way ending up spending 30 + years for a small crime due to prison gangs etc. So maybe this freaked him out so he reacted the way he did. The problem is the entire american system the cops are taught to shoot to kill for any little thing.
He had an extensive rap sheet, it wasn't his first rodeo.
We can attempt to explain the reasoning behind his actions but it doesn't change the fact that what he did was wrong, illegal, put the public in danger and he should be held accountable for his actions.
Should we also try and justify why he abused children? Some actions are just wrong and need to be called out.

Unless everyone here is arguing that DUI should be legal?

It wasn't allegedly.

Innocent until proven guilty , remember that? Courts, juries, due process?
nah let's just have cops be judge jury and executioner.

You want to claim this is similar and demonize police? GTFO.

so we can demonize politicians, teachers, government workers, BLM, antifa, unions, etc but you draw the line at cops huh?

I just beleve the got to train them better do some psych shit to make sure there mental stable, my adrenalin gets pumping on the thread I'm going to the abyss

Yeah do you know how the legal process works. There's bodycam footage showing him drunk after passing out at the wheel. At this point I'm just assuming that you think DUI is completely OK.

I meant using the Brooks incident specifically to do so. Demonize all you want but make it legitimate.

Felony murder charges offically filed against the police officer, for anyone trying to defend the officer's actions, this says it all.

Yeah do you know how the legal process works

This is too good.

Do you know how it works?

Force is allowed proportional to the situation, you think people who get pulled over for speeding should be allowed to be murdered by the police ... "They were committing a crime! Kill them all!"

All this bullshit of "ooh look at all these things he did in the past" "ooh you think dui is just fine".

Its all bs distraction.

The issue is not what Brooks did in the past, it's not even what he did minutes before he died. It's what happens in those final 20 seconds or so. The law does not provide the use of summery execution for crimes committed long ago that you've long been convinced and sentenced for. It does not provide for deadly force for dui.

It provides for using deadly force when you have a reasonable belief that your life or someone else's is in immediate risk of death, or severe permanent injury. Juries ultimately decide if they feel such a belief under the circumstances was reasonable.

And I'm not seeing any jury saying that being hit with a tiny dart that the police shoot people with every single day without lasting harm is a reasonable grounds to think you're about to die or suffer a permanent life altering injury, not when you know full well that the person doing it is attempting to flee.

american law is not that way though there american cops are taught to shoot to kill on resistance of arrest and for any odd behavior or sudden movements.

You sure about that? I mean, really, really, really, really sure?

I think the outrage is that he was a) shot in the back and b) could've probably just been escorted home and maybe suspend his license for a bit. It didn't need to escalate. That's the idea of defund the police. Arrest is not really needed for these issues when other options are much safer and beneficial for all

Presumably they were arresting him to escort him to a station for a second, more accurate test.

The roadside breath test usually just provides probably cause to arrest and perform the more accurate test.

Similar thing happened when I got picked up for drug driving. They pulled me over and suspected (correctly) I was under the influence. Did the breath test which came back negative, did a road side sobriety test, which apparently wasn't to there satisfaction, so they arrested me and escorted me to hospital for a drug test.

Pretty sure drunk driving is similar, first a roadside test, then if you fail you're arrested and taken in for a more accurate test because the first isn't accurate enough for court, just as probable cause.

If you try to change the system -- the system will change you. We live in a semi-primitive Dystopia with primal adaptation, this being said the cops will not back off no matter what, the Gov itself will not be led up like Christmas's lights, it's impossible. Similar how the mafia works, the Gov does to, you think you got the top dog but you actually got a pawn, it's chess people. That's why, with all respect regarding every human life, that's why I don't bother with politics anymore because it's a waste of time and resources. It will lead you nowhere, luckily we got some journalists out there that don't wear blank faces. Instead of praying for victims and their families, we should pray for these 10 or even less -- journalists.

You're correct, a breathalyzer is not permissible in court here. So the field sobriety test typically gives them cause for the breathalyzer, which then gives them cause to ask for informed consent for a blood test (they can not force anyone to take a blood test). As with everything, police can not just do whatever they want, escalate situations, or use lethal force. They are following a strict set of guidelines and policy, in allowance of the laws that govern.

Here they can't "force" you to give a blood sample, in that you can say you refuse and no force will be used to make you. But refusing is itself an offense provided you weren't medically unable to provide a sample. And the penalty for that is pretty much the same as if you'd given a sample and come back positive.

Yeah, it's tricky here. If you refuse, they instantly suspend your license. Then, you go to court, and if you're found guilty (which is why the field sobriety test is pivotal here because of the "clues"), then you can get almost up to double the charges and/or incarceration time. So, you really need to believe you're innocent and be willing to take it to trial typically and let a jury decide your fate, so it's a gamble. For instance, people that smoked marijuana within the past week but weren't intoxicated at the time, may be willing to refuse the blood test and take it to court, because they know they would fail the blood test but were legitimately sober at the time of the incident.

The cop who shot Brooks will be charged with felony murder + 10 more charges, according to DA.

Now this is ridiculous.
The establishment is attacking the police.
This type of shit will lead to the breakdown of the society where criminals will run the show and you all will be fucked. I hope the people in the US have armed themselves, because soon there might be nobody coming to save them.

They are attacking the problematic police*

In addition, we will reform the police and stop having this nonsense. What you just suggested will never happen, there are alternatives that will happen well before that.
