I started raving in the early 2000's and I remember Progressive trance being quite big at that time (at least in cali it was). I think around 2007 it started losing popularity with the increase in popularity of electro house.

definitely, that's why I said somewhat underground lol

I love 90's and early 00's trance. Feels like a totally different genre. A lot of trance is starting to sound similar, I haven't downloaded much in the last year but I thought progressive was on it's way out and all this vocal and epic trance was coming in.

trance = mdma
newtrance = mda

less emotion. harder and more dancey. :D I still love it even if it's a totally different genre.

Mau5heads wear rose colored glasses. They don't see why deadmau5 is a douchebag, they just see him pressing buttons from his giant cube command center rolling face thinking, "OMG DEADMAU5 4 EVER!!!! FUK ALL HATERS!!!"
 
I like Deadmau5 but I saw him two nights at the Congress on Chicago and the first night was almost identical to the second night. With all that he does you would think there would be some variations between shows. Turned me off alittle bit. I will also agree that his long intros don't tend to build up to much.

but only because i rolled and then candy-flipped for the first time at a deadmau5 concert
it obviously left an impression on me... i really enjoy his music, all of it. and i have every song and i made a mau5head. huge fan.

dont really listen to him much any more unless i am at malaise lol
I really like dubstep now and always go to the next awesome concert in and around where i live.

Not haters really, just anti-mainstream people being anti-mainstream which is common and pretty understandable. There is a reason mainstream people become mainstream, it is the fact that they have some appeal to them that attracts the lowest common denominator in all folk. This is not an easy feat as most people have very different tastes, but you do this by watering yourself down so you can appeal to groups while not keeping yourself out of other groups by being too "in your face", if that makes any sense.

Real music fans don't like watered down lowest common denominator music, they like the pure thing. I for one am both. I like the hardcore, underground, type stuff that attracts the purists, but I'm also kind of a real life jersey shore type guy so I love the mainstream club banger type stuff too. As long as you understand what you are listening to and can appreciate the musical value (or understand the lacktheroff in some cases) you can enjoy lots of different type of stuff, just take the music for what it's worth. :)

Does having an opinion that is different than yours make me a hater? Should I like Deadmau5 because you do? I honestly don't like the guys music, and as I said before, I like a pretty large variety of electronic (it's all I listen to) and I gave the guy a chance. Why does this bother "mau5heads" so much? I don't give a shit if you have the same taste in music as I do.
 
guys, the bottom line is haters gonna hate. deadmau5 is one of the biggest assholes out there.

that being said, his music isnt terrible. it isnt great or groundbreaking, but it isnt terrible. theres tons of better edm to listen to, which is why i dont ever look for mau5. but theres a lot of complete shit out there too. this whole "electro house" thing is kinda bumming me out. and skrillex was great!... until i actually listened to it.

we can all agree that Daft Punk is best ever, and should make all of the music in the world :p

Deadmau5 is OK. He got big while I was the electronic DJ a my college's radio station (WTUL), and his first stuff like Faxing Berlin and Not Exactly are good and show him going in a progressive direction, but that just kinda stopped with his subsequent albums.

Is it just possible that he likes and is better at producing other people's music?
 
Deadmau5 is definately overrated, but hes not as bad as he is being made out to be on this thread. He isnt house music to me either, tho. To me he is a visable figure for electro music. For that i will respect him. I did buy 4x4=12 and it was ok, nothing spectacular. He does interact with fans on FB alot so to say he an asshole, I just dont see it. And also, if you need to ROLL to enjoy an artist then you really arent a fan of there music. I'm just saying.
