^^ lol
here is what i wrote on my FB after linking to the two articles
"I feel like I should weigh in here. 1) Despite what Deadmau5 says, beatmatching is a skill, and to some degree, one that cannot always be learned. It is much more than counting to 4...it is making sure the beats are together, the beats aren't competing. Also, even counting to 4 isnt enough...even if the beats are MIDI controlled to the same tempo and landing at the same time, song structure dictates most loops are in 32s and 64s...hard to count, so a 'feel' is important. 2) Turntables vs programs....I have used both. what is most important is how you use the tools you are given. Personally, I am biased away from Abelton, since it is too easy to pre-plan your set...what sounds good at your house may sound completely different on a real system, and what you might be wanting to play might not be what the crowd wants...as a DJ, you are there for them, not for yourself. But if you can effectively use loops and stems from all sorts of different songs to remix live, all the better. 3) Just saying it again, your style is why you get booked. Show it. People will hate, they always do. I am guilty of this. But as long as you are using your tools proficiently, really why would you give a fuck."
