Here is why I DIS-respect Deadmau5

Shiznik listed an album that he thought was way better. I agree that it is a better album. "Feed me" is done by a drum and bass producer named Spor. When he first came out with a few housey tracks, I honestly thought it was a joke on his behalf. Almost like he was saying "here... I produced some house and I barely had to try and look how much better it is". House isn't really a genre I like, but as I said earlier, I like a variety of kinds of electronic music and if I hear something good, I'm not above it.

Compared to any deadmau5 I have ever heard, the Feed Me cd has more energy, a silly fun sound that makes me wanna move, the sound effects are way better, and the intro to every song doesn't sound the same. To me this says that there is a lot more that can be done with this genre and deadmau5 is barely scraping the surface. Listen to the beginning of every song on the Feed Me cd. They all sound completely different.

Generic is really the number one word that comes to mind with deadmau5, because the songs sound very similar. Deadmau5 said himself in a Rolling Stone interview that house music is very easy to produce... haha.

I just enjoy his facebook page because he posts funny stuff and bitches a lot. Most celebrity musicians wouldn't post one thing about their lives on facebook.

I'm with you on that, I just think it's funny that his fans say stuff like "look he used to be a raver" to add to how awesome they think he is when he has said that he hates the culture that they love so much. Also, that's not really a unique quality in a dj or producer... many of them were "ravers" first, it's how they got into the music. (I know you didn't say this about him, I was referring to posts in the other thread.)

The impression I get from him is that he got famous by accident and just ran with it. There's nothing wrong with that, but a lot of his fans seem to think he's some sort of a music god, and I don't think he thinks that. He laughs at the fact that his music is famous.

Marcus Shossow, Sebastian Leger and I am sure there are more.

I think the biggest issue with deadmau5 is that his tracks tend to be catchy but superficial . It's almost like the EDM equivalent of Mariah Carey or something. I have nothing against people enjoying deadmau5 or whoever, but it does get annoying to hear how "he is the best electronic artist ever".

let me expand my opinion off of yours. My favorite musicians are the ones who's singles sound so different.

pleasurekraft - tarantula
alter ego - why not
midnight mike - hot in the kitchen

they are different in their own ways, but with much respect to the mau5, he is all about the cash. his tracks sell cuz he found his success in the same beat and uses the same exact synth in different ways. agree with to each their own, but he is NOT an innovator like soulwax, prodigy, aphex twin, lady gaga (kidding).
 
I didn't have a big problem with deadmau5 , wasn't great but not the worst...untill I saw hill at a festival in belfast where he played a mediocre set but the worst thing was how he finished it. He built this choon up for literally 10 mins, I was really excited by this point (1st time all set) but then just when I thought he was gona drop it something serious he stops the music and just walks of stage.

without kaskade on that track....it would be another generic deadmau5 song that doesnt really go anywhere....now im not full blown hating on this guy like most of you would like to see, as it would give you full fledged reason to flame away at my expense, but COME ON there is sooooo much better music to be had out there than this guy. Expand your music library and you will understand...go on download rampages, go to best buy n just get an ass load of cd's

No, it's not that impressive at all. I really don't like the vocal track, the beat is boring, I could go on. As I said earlier mau5 hardly sounds like house music, bump some Swedish House Mafia if you want that real shit.

Deadmau5 isn't house music, he is electro house, not like Swedish House Mafia who seem to do regular house along w/ all the trendier house genres like electro and progressive.
 
Saying deadmau5 is electro house is pretty insulting to electro. It BARELY has any real electro sound effects. I also didn't think that track was any good. If anything, I thought it was one of the worse ones I have heard.

I am not a "deadmau5 hater". I don't like his tracks, but I am not out to prove anything. I don't care that people like him, I have plenty of guilty pleasure artists that I enjoy, but wouldn't consider the most bad ass of my collection. I just think it's hilarious that his fans seem to hold him up as some sort of innovator when really... he's just some guy who makes house music that happened to make it big. He said so himself, his music is very easy to make. This guy doesn't think hes anything special, and he seems to laugh at the fact that so many people like him while raking in the dough. If you like him, great... but don't pretend like he's the best thing to hit the scene. There's way better stuff out there. Like someone said earlier... expand your music collection. You'll see...
 
deadmau5 is crap his music is a mess it just sounds like a bunch of noises mashed up together .

his first few tracks were ok the trancey ones like faxing Berlin but his new shit is CRACKED out awful noisy shit .

and i disliked him even more when he took over PVD set at ultra last year , his performance was weak and PVD is a legend next to deadrat he wont last to long he just has a bunch of young kids following him
 
paid $130 to see him play for 1 hour 24 minutes

i was beamed outta my mind and didnt even enjoy it

theres a few good older techy tracks he's got though
 
HE BOMBED @ ultra... he was absolutely horrible. He closed the festival and headlined the main stage.... 56 minutes of complete garbage.. and 4 minutes of technical difficulties.. he dropped a "killing in the name of" RATM remix which was cool, and I enjoyed strobe but thats it... I wish he woulda played Brazil then it wouldnt have been a complete WASTE of time. and ffs lower the mic's on tommy lees drums, turn up sofi's mic, and do a proper ableton soundcheck if you have cdj performers going on all day before you!!!!

And wilwee; jelo sounds similar to Deadmau5 because they are personal friends IRL and collaborate all the FUCKING time like Steve Duda!!!!! aka his partner of B.SO.D (blue screen of death)

ps: so glad im not moderator anymore and have to deal with this thread! haha, g'luck levictus and JJ. People either LOVE or HATE deadmau5.... I 98% hate him.

Brazil, strobe, reward is more cheese (played out though) and cthlu sleeps are decent. Everything else is pathetic... this is the hook by b.s.o.d. is funny cuz of the breakdown.

It's not a Deadmau5 song. It's a remix. Every "Deadmau5" tune people have linked to in efforts to defend him has been a collaboration of some sort, i.e. Kaskade + DeadMau5, that remix. I'm yet to see anyone suggest a track that he produced and recorded solo which shows he has anything more than the ability to make mediocre electronic music. The recent stuff could even be classified as a bit pop.
