Never heard of Devon Cream (unlikely to being up in Lancashire!), but strains that have been acclimatised are what you need. Got some purple marocs, easy sativas, hashplant 2, Purple Widow, and Danish Gold outdoors this year. Hoping for a good few oz come October =D not had any losses yet
So which of these is meant to be the least smelly, hypothetically?

honestly, with this country's climate, I'd just look for the earliest flowering var. bred for growing outdoor in our climate, at our latitude.

There are many.

Indoor vars. don't fair well outdoors, nor do seeds from a "well nice draw I got from a mate, Pinapple Kush Express X Cheeseberry Haze".

Look at outdoor seeds, find the ones that "claim" to flower the earliest.

Cross off any that mention autoflowering genes, or ruderalis crosses.

dan has mentioned some good ones, there are many others from other breeders.

read up on any well known uk420 ( :sus: ) cannabis growing site, look at grow diaries, see other peoples experiences of the strains you're interested in, see if any are based in same area as you and when they started to flower.

That's what I'd do.

Or just look at the pictures of the ChocolocoChiTownExpressoBongo Auto and order them cos they got nice pictures.

^ re the above autoflower chitchat

IME autos grown outside in the UK end up looking like celery, big thick stems but huge [ and i do mean huge ] gaps between the nodes

even indoors they're shit, even if they are well grown , full fat buds, they are weak, and too leafy, fuck any of these Shyterider type strains....

fem'd autos anyone? :(

Apologies in advance as I know this has probably bindun to excess already and UTFSE etc, but I've got 12 very healthy looking plants growing in a home-made cold frame type affair outside at the moment. Basically, I'm looking for 'stealth' tactics as I need to keep the little fuckers as little and as out of sight as possible until harvest time. Obviously, inside under lights is the answer, but funds won't allow the initial investment at the moment. Anyone have any tips on reducing height growth so that I can keep them in their current sunny but not overlooked position? I'm aware that pinching out the growing tips helps stunt the vertical growth, but this can also force the plants to become male if overdone.

I know this is a massive subject and everyone's got a differing opinion, but for any of you that have successfully grown under similar limitations I would really appreciate your input.

Cheers..=D

If you don't want to pinch of cut the tops then you can tie them down allowing the side branches to bush out under a screen. You could also try force flowering them by reducing the light to 12/12 by using thick black material to block out the light

In 2009 I planted a top 44 and passion number 1 before going back home for the summer. Came back in October not expecting anything but found one plant about 5ft tall covered in buds. Chopped it 2 weeks later and after drying was left with 8 ounces. Bud want string at all but did have a nice lemon smell

The Fuk is Going on ?

Thanks man, I considered that method (my 'Dr Atomic's Pipe 'n' Dope Comic' mentions this), but just wondered if there was a viable way of stunting their growth without affecting potency. Obviously, potency will suffer outside, as will yield if stunted. My plants are becoming really potbound now, but I just know that as soon as I put them into bigger pots they are going to fuckin explode! I have pinched some growing tops out to see what happens and it has stunted their growth, but the leaves look deformed and quite fat - not the classic leaf shape we're all accustomed to.. However, the best plants which I haven't pinched out currently have internodal lengths of 5 - 10mm, which is pretty good isn't it? They also look like mini xmas trees and are a luvverly shape. What will happen if I don't repot but continue watering and feeding?

Just got a text, 3.5g £20, q £35, oz £130. Dry and stinky, bit leafy. I'm off to see what its like

Did you travel in time?

Yeah, picked up an eigth, it's actually pretty nice weed

Edit: just got you mean price wise haha! Too be honest my town seems to have cheaper weed than most, but this is especially cheap. The guys got a shitload of it in as well

Tying them down, hard training them will not affect potency...get a screen of chicken wire and a frame, and as the plant starts to flower start tying in the buds withthem little tie wraps....pinch out any internodes and buds below the screen, channeling all the energy into the buds growing from the screen. easier trimming too.

Rootboundedness will affect the yield far more. Use the biggest pots you can find, this period just before flowering is when the rootmasss explodes and gives the plant the ability to take in enough nutrients and water to produce bud. Root development slows down and eventually stops during flowering, but before they flower pot them up every time the roots are filling your container/growing medium.

If the leaves are fat they are likely indicas (7-10weeks flowering) rather than sativas, which is good as sativas (13-20weeks flowering)will never finish flowering inthis country before the frosts come, maybe in polytunnels it could be done :sus: It's probably a hybrid indica sativa as most commonly sold seeds are now, and is probably 8-9 weeks flowring time....

5-10mm internodal spacing sounds a bit too short to me, could be a symptom of them being rootbound...a stocky plant is nice, easy to handle, but overly stocky restricts space for bud to grow, and increases your chances of mildew.

If the leaves are "deformed" you may be overfeeding them, are they curling in at the tips and edges?

you really have to pot up.....growth explodes during the first week or two of flowering anyway, with plants easily stretching to twice their height/size for indicas, and sativas even more. And don't feed them for at least a week after you've pottted up, wait till you can see roots throughthe holes in thepot.

:)

Yeh, cheers for your response.. 5 - 10mm internodals was from memory, they actually started about 25mm and are reducing incrementally so the latest internodal is about 10mm - this one I have just repotted into a 5l paint bucket to see what happens. The ones I said that had fatter leaves, yes, some are curling in at the tips. So you reckon this is over feeding? Interesting..

Anyway, it's all an experiment at the mo', but if I get summat half decent then it's a bonus in my opinion..

Getting some Bubba Kush and some Afghani Black Hashissshhhh

Gonna smoke them both at the end of my 2 month break. Should be high as shit.

the bubba kush is top stuff - been growing this for the past few month's along with barnys pineapple chunk & barneys LSD. all 3 are tastey & ive not bothered with anything else for quite some time

Most Afghan black is utter shite these days, I'm sorry to say.

The Afghani Black from Amsterdam is nice. And that's what I'm getting, got a mate who brought some back.

I am looking forward to the Bubba Kush. Not sure when I'm able to get it but should be in time for the end of my weed break.
