Help with tripping in public (LSD) - always seem to think everyone knows

I have trouble tripping in public. I have to work extremely hard to convince myself that nobody cares and knows I'm tripping yet I still seem to believe they do. I usually have my sunglasses on, walk normally (I think) and just stare at random stuff. I don't even talk at all. At least with people lol.

The second someone looks at me for too long I am 100% convinced everyone knows I'm tripping and it's a big conspiracy against me. I had to run out of a shopping mall recently because I thought someone could read my mind. LOL.

When I'm sober I know that nobody gives a fuck and they all have their own insecurities they worry about etc, but when I'm tripping I can't maintain that mindset. Any suggestions/tips?

Noone can tell you're tripping unless you tell them.

Maybe, if you can't seem to keep your paranoid thoughts under control in public, try tripping at home, or in nature, where you are less likely to encounter other people.

Edit: I understand where you're coming from. I went for a walk by myself once on LSD. An old man asked me something, probably something like "how's it going" that set me off into a paranoid trip. I thought every person I encountered was law enforcement. Even the little girl riding by on her bike, I was convinced she was scouting my position for "the feds". I ended up laying down under a tree by the river, just in case, so I could swim away from the cops if necessary. However, when I layed down, I saw the sky changing color, and came to the conclusion that I must be dead. That solved the paranoia, but started all sorts of other weirdness.

Yeah I'm like that with a lot of psychedelics trust me know one will know if you keep your cool and nobody sees your pupils. Don't over think and you should be okay. Also LSD isn't a real big public drug unless if you're at a rave or friends.

My first time doing LSD I dropped at a mall with a friend. I really liked the idea, cause tabs are so discrete. We ended up in a wash by the mall hanging with some homeless people, talking about politics. I find that I only get paranoid when I mix LSD with weed.

^I felt the same... Even felt like saying the same... but people can change.

But still, I don't trip balls in public. Maybe light doses. Acceptable groups are another story.

OP- Not sure how "spiritual" you are, or if this must apply that way, but you may try cycling out animal food sources before you trip next, for at least a week.

So wait.. did you just bolt out of there suddenly? With sunglasses on?

I do have to agree as well if I can, that you should not do this as you have. If you have to run away...

What dose? You didnt specify?

Hahaha, thats probably the most common paranoia when tripping.

Whenever I trip I constantly think people know/are whispering/are talking about me. Usually with shrooms though.

Kinda just something you gotta learn to shrug off, although with mushrooms I can't be around probably more than 4 people MAX, or it can go down hill pretty fast.

Wear sunglasses, and then just relax. I've looked rather strange at times tripping acid in public, but it would take something ridiculous for anyone to know you were tripping. I hold onto this notion when my brain spirals into paranoid thought sequences and it keeps me from ever freaking out.

Shrooms is another story, I just think being in public on shrooms is the funniest thing when I'm shroomed out, giggles become uncontrollable haha

Man I remember once we were ordering smokes off our heads on LSD and the guy picked it from some stupid joke I made and said "Ahhh trippy" with this sort of half eye rolling, stupid hippies kind of vibe.

We left there pissing ourselves laughing with stupid acid grins on our face and talked for about 20 minutes about how we'd been "busted" and how we told my girlfriend "not to leave us alone together because we'd get too jester"

You have to remember everyone is just following their schedules and getting their shit done, even if they did know you were tripping they'll probably think to themselves "what a burnout loser" and never think about you again in their life, but you'll secretly know they're the burnout for not having an open mind and it won't matter. Also even if a cop knew you were tripping, I SERIOUSLY doubt they would pull you in for it unless you're harassing people or shouting obscenities or something ridiculous.

This seems to be really common though, and I can't see any reason for it except the preconditioned idea that being on a psychedelic is wrong or bad. I 100% blame the war on drugs for this phenomena but that's my opinion, not a fact.

It's certainly frowned upon in 'normal' society to start telling everyone about your cosmic adventures (I don't tend to care, I'm not going to censor myself because of close minded jerks) but the world doesn't stop when you eat a tab. You'd be surprised how few people would actually care. Everything is just as it's always been except you're just experiencing it different.
Once you really understand that to the point where you don't have to think about it, it becomes a lot easier to deal with in public, although I dunno what kind of doses you're doing.

No reason to trip anywhere you don't enjoy tripping. If your acid is makin' you freak out, just take less.

I don't have a problem tripping at a big music fest cuz everyone else is fucked up too. But other places are a different issue. I've been working with low dose 2C-T-2 to help overcome my paranoia. I deid some at a renaissance faire about a month ago... I was there with my daughter & son (they're teenage & older), sister & husband, boither & girlfriend, cousin, nephew, etc. No one knew that their faces were morphing and changing colors :). A couple weeks later I did a low dose at a county park event with similar results. I figure if I can get comfortable with low doses, I can work up to higher ones.

It helps to know that it doesn't matter if people know if you are tripping, because they can't do anything about it. Once the drug is in your system, you are basically safe from any legal repercussions unless you break the law (not including taking the drug of course). It is not illegal to have dilated pupils, or to walk funny, or to wear sunglasses inside, or to giggle a lot, or to point out that the walls are melting. Just make sure that the cops don't have anything that they can grab you for. Don't keep any more of the drug on you or any container that might have traces of the drug, don't do stupid stuff like taking off clothing, don't go telling people what you are seeing, and don't lay on the ground and spin around in circles like a pinwheel.

First time I tripped in public on my own, it was highly nerve-racking. I got used to it until eventually, I could take a strong double-hit and go walking around in a busy street. Like everyone says, unless you do something really obvious, no one can tell. The ONLY problem you'll tend to really encounter is with conversation. For me at least, I'm awkward enough with pleasantries and formalities as it is; once I'm tripping, fucking forget it.

My last acid trip was on my own in the city, I handled it perfectly fine, even talked to a couple of people and I'm 100% sure they didn't have a clue I was on anything, and several times after night fell, there were cops ahead and no one else, but I didn't feel any need to divert my course. Try starting light next time you go outdoors, you can build it up if need be.

Of course, ego loss in public is another matter entirely, so keep your dose reasonable.

Just realize people don't know and you don't look any more off then the general population. As others have suggested sunglasses might make you feel better but I feel pupil dialation isn't something people are going to notice. I feel it's ridiculous to assume anyone will notice your pupils are big.

I love tripping in public and in cities, I love carrying on my day as I would a normal day, I'm also highly experienced.

I can get paranoid about pupil dilation even though my eyes are a very dark brown and it'd be hard to notice. But that's only when, for example, I walk up to someone to pay for a ticket in to somewhere, or for food. And if they ever notice, no one's ever said anything or indicated it.

Just remember that 99.9% wont expect you to be tripping, let alone tell if you are, unless your making it completely obvious. Let's say they could tell, what are the odds that they'd give a fuck? If they did give a fuck what are the odds that they'd do anything about it? Probably not very likely

1. Nobody can tell.
2. If they could tell, they're probably trippers themselves, so it's cool.
3. Seriously, nobody can tell unless you say "holy shit this LSD is really strong!"
4. If they look at you, just smile and look at something else. It's amazing how that simple act can defuse any potential tension!
5. Remember, it's not illegal to be high.

As for getting used to being in public, an easy way to start is to take a walk down not-busy streets to get to a park. I started with parks, then slowly worked my way up to the point where I can be most places on a ++ trip without it being a big deal. The zoo is good, sitting at a cafe/bar and watching traffic is nice, going for a hike that other people might be on is decent, going to the beach (don't forget sunblock), etc etc.

^ Watching a sunset while at a beach and tripping on psychedelics sounds amazing. Too bad I live in a desert...
