Opioids HELP: should I do an at home detox with naltrexone?

Response:to should i detox at home with naltrexone?very lengthy but worth a read plea

I have written on this in the dark side...perhaps in the wrong forum, but I received nice responses. Then I saw this thread ,and it was exactly what I was looking for.Really just wanted to talk to and identify with some one who did naltrexone to rapid detox at home while awake;).1st my answer is a strong NO,it is like nothing you have ever experienced in regards to withdrawal because it is rapid...hmmm how do I put it,like scrubbing and pulling all the opiate receptors clean at a rapid pace.An entire different experience than ceasing opiates naturally and withdrawing that way...I have done that many times..and now that feels like a walk in the park.I have never blogged or joined a discussion page, but I feel so strongly and never want a fellow opiate lover/sufferer to go through this.I will not exaggerate or add drama(try lol I'm a girl)Had 2-3 days without my child wanted to detox without him witnessing it,so I get naltrexone, took 4mg.!st body temp got really hot, then anxiety that you thought you would burst, then the real killer for me restless arms and legs kicking, not just legs and an extreme case,I sat and rocked or walked around the house constantly..all the while my mental status is going crazy, strange ,massive guilt from the past came up,I'm a loser,I just wanna die,and oh God my babies ,my babies.Suicide did cross my mind ,I was unable to comprehend that this was temporary, but a minute felt like ten. Then violent vomiting, diarrhea and loss of bladder all at the same time, not pretty...but nothing at the game of opiates is.I wound up calling 911..I was borderline violent at this point...they took me and could do nothing, the doctor came 3 times to my bed but I was unable to sit still, until she finally sat me down, but commend me for trying and sent me home with 5 Xanax....Done! went home took 6-8 milligrams of sub and fell deeply asleep.Ready for this still determined I pack up and go to my mothers thinking emotional support would have helped! how soon an addict forgets the pains of even yesterday and I still had 2 child free days to do this .SO here I go with all my meds which btw I had the previous day.Clonidine,Baclofan,Klonipin 2mg and Zofran,Seroquel 25mg.and Immodium.ENTIRELY USELESS NOTHING KNOCKED ME OUT! or let me sleep due to the restless body. Then again the vomiting etc. 3 hot showers so cold when I got out I had to just jump under the covers wet.My mother began to cry..I could not let her touch me and I asked her to stop talking,I was like an exposed nerve...in retrospect I would never ever want to see my child suffer like that or any way.SO once again I could not follow through and my dad drove to my home to get my suboxone it took 45 min.and felt like 3 hours...within 45.min of taking it I was like an entirely different person,my mother was shocked ,however said this is some toxic, powerful stuff...I'm scared Tara.I have had adrenal and thyroid problems since starting subs.so it is ill advised for me to stay on it.On another note I feel screwed, will life ever be the same again..will I feel natural joy or purpose, could I go grocery shopping without 4 percocets...can I get out of bed without taking my subs 45 min.earlier...I have children I love and feel so trappped..my depression is so debilitating when I am off opiates,I just dont know what to do?Sorry so lengthy ..just wanna help and also get a little advice/inspiration....with love xo "LIfe is not a prison sentence but yet it is a spiritual kindergarten, where we are all trying to spell God with all the wrong blocks."

As everyone else has said..
This sounds like a terrible idea.
Ive never bein threw percipitated withdrawls cept once and they were real light because most of the oxy was already off of my receptors.
And that was also with Buprenorphine, not naltrx.

Withdrawls suck,i only go through Bup withdrawls now and i take low doses but ive bein through full agonist withdrawl and that really sucks.
Especially if ur like me and are already naturally anxious.

Seriously, HORRIBLE IDEA.

...

Within 20 minutes of taking one of these horrid things, had I access to a gun I would've killed myself.

Haha, those are the exact words I used to describe it. :|

It's not pleasant, but it is all over a lot quicker.

If anyone does decide to do it, you will need benzos and other sleepers or I think it would be unbearable. Clonodine worked great for me to sleep, Valium and Xanax helped and to a lesser extent Baclofen and Buscopan seemed to help some of the pain.

After learning a bit more about precipitated withdrawal from those who've done it in a clinical setting under medical supervision, it's apparently a good idea to slowly introduce it into your system by diluting the naltrexone with water and taking small incremental doses, then waiting for it to work until it's absolutely unbearable while using other drugs to minimize (heh, nothing really works) the (severe) symptoms.

I should also add that I know people who used and are still on naltrexone who are still living normal lives after addiction, and anyone who wants to get clean should consider it because it does work for some people.

Dude look at the date of the opening post. Your saying whats already been said many times in response to an issue that is months old. :\

Seriously, HORRIBLE IDEA.

I thought of this idea once, I figured it couldn't be that bad. I've gone through withdrawals all the way before, so what the hell. Just take some naltrexone and force withdrawals, speed through them, and be fine right? Wrong.

Within 20 minutes of taking one of these horrid things, had I access to a gun I would've killed myself. Horrible pain/vommiting/direara/sweats/chills/anxiety.

Normal withdrawals come on over time, you get one symptom, then another, and so one. With this you will get them ALL at the same time and like 20x stronger. I couldn't even get loperimide down because I would just vomit. It was the most disgusting I've ever felt.

Don't be stupid, just deal with normal withdrawals, and if you can't deal with normal ones you will probably kill youself from these, HORRIBLE. I wish I could erase that memory from my mind

I'm glad I have never tried to use naltrexone myself, thanks for sharing your experience.

One week on dope is nothing.. you would face very minor WD symptoms and I would agree with your idea of taking the naltroxone. (I realize that this is an old thread)

I have actually done this myself, shot up naltroxone/naloxone? and went into instant WDs but I was actually able to catch some Zzz which helped.
This was from a 1½ of IV Heroin use.

I myself made a mistake dosing naltrexone at an ultra low dose. Was fragged right out from a long day and was dosing absent mindedly. Ended up ommiting the conversion to micrograms so I took 6 mg as opposed to micrograms. Within an hour I was tearing and clawing at my face. Nothing can prepare you for the level of suffering involved in precip withdraws.
Even as I post I am very fragile simultaneously alert yet mentally blunted. What I noticed was a period of complete cessation of withdrawals once the trex was dosed. Highly interesting, seemed as if the NLTX potentiated whatever opiates were present.
I would advise heavilly against it. The experience is purgatory and cathartic in the extreme. It is human suffering at its most acute. Microgram dosing is recommended however for the purposes the OP described - as long as you dont make the fatal error I made!

25 mg in 2 L = 0.08 mg per ml!!!

Just to bump and discourage anyone trying this, tokk a 50mg naltrexone pill after an opiate booze and benzo binge and i've never felt anything like it (i was so mashed i didnt even consider the opiates id done, i'd meant to been taking it daily bt hadnt so in my drunken state i was like shit, i meant to take this daily and necked it, fucking retarded!, mates took my to hospital after i screamed at em too inbetween throwing up all i've eaten in the last year and some colours of bile i never knew i had and shitting liquid),
just the whole withdrawal crushed into 4/5 painful days and amplified by 100x ( i agree with the guy who said if i had a gun i probably wouldvt used it), couldnt get out of the hospital bed for the first 2/3 days and the next 1 or 2 were just regular WD torture but straight after taking the naltrexone for the next few.. never felt anything like it mentally and physically. Horrible.. Really daft thing to do.

Yeah, there are the PD's from taking your suboxone too early after doing another opiate, and then there's taking naltrexone after being on another opiate.
completely different worlds
the suboxone PD's only last around an hour, and are bearable
when I took the naltrexone, I literally thought I was having a heart attack
my temperature rose through the roof, and I was sitting in a chair, sweating, rocking back and forth, with my legs shaking like someone with parkinsons
soon after I spent an hour around the toilet until I was vomiting pure bile, which ended up giving me a raw sore throat
then my temperature went down and I was freezing
tried to lay down in bed but I was anxious as hell and my legs wouldn't stop shaking like a mad man
decided to go outside and run, which helped a bit, but I was freezing the whole time
this went on for about 7 hours until I calmed down a bit

NEVER DO THIS
the only good thing about it is you actually can't wait for the regular withdrawals to come, so it makes those a little better for a day or so
and it doesn't make the WD's shorter, I can tell you that
