I’ve spent some time surfing the Internet and Bluelight looking for an answer or at least someone else who has experienced what I’m feeling, but so far no luck. Finally decided to sign up and make my own post. Please let me know if I fail to satisfy the bluelight decorum in any way.

I’ve done E about 10 times, eight of the times being molly, low doses of about 250 to 500 mg, always with at least a month spacing between each roll….what I always thought to be “safe” usage if there is such a thing when taking ecstasy. I’m having second thoughts now.

The last time I rolled was May 6, so a little over four months ago. The roll itself was pretty standard, but I do remember having an oddly heightened sense of awareness. I was more cognizant of the fact that I was rolling – not the usual total inebriation that one normally experiences. Perhaps this is a symptom of “loss of magic,” perhaps it has nothing to do with what I’m experiencing, but I thought it worth mentioning. Anyways…on to what I’m experiencing:

I didn’t notice it until a few days after the roll and the usual 2 day shitty hangover. It’s hard to describe what it feels like. The only way I can describe it is an uncomfortable tingly sensation under my scalp. You know how when you’re rolling, you brush your fingers through your hair, and you get that amazing experience of all your body and energy and sensations moving to the top of your head? It’s like that, except not amazing. Not painful, either. Just uncomfortable.

The first two weeks were extremely intense. I couldn’t do anything but lie in bed. It was also coupled with an on and off nausea. I went to sleep just praying I’d feel normal the next day. Got extremely scared, went to the doctor, they told me it was probably anxiety and to just give it time.

For lack of an alternative, I did just that, and it’s gotten a lot better for the most part. I’ve been exercising, taking my supplements, straying from stimulants. In fact, it went away almost entirely a few weeks ago. This last week, though, I’ve noticed it’s come back, which scares me again and has me fleeing back to the Internet for an answer. It spreads across my head like a “pins and needles” sensation. Although it spreads, it seems to usually centralize around the very top/back of my head and sometimes even down towards the neck.

Some things I’ve noticed… Drinking coffee and tobacco products tend to aggravate it so I keep away. Alcohol hangovers also seem to have an aggravating effect. 5HTP made it worse so I stopped that. Magnesium Malate seems to have some beneficial effects, but maybe it's just placebo effect. But then other times, it just comes for no apparent reason. Recently, I’ve even been getting these very brief, sharp pains in the tips of my fingers which seem to extend straight back to the top of my head.

Please excuse the lengthy post. I’m not expecting anyone to tell me a magic cure. Just want to know if anyone out there has ever experienced anything like this. I’ve come across a lot of posts about disassociation/spacing feelings after MDMA “abuse.” I’m almost certain this is a very physical issue I’m experiencing, although my girlfriend has tried to convince me to the contrary…that it is some sort of mental thing. But I find that hard to believe. My mental capacity is entirely intact as far as I can tell. I can think straight. I have a great grasp on reality. I don’t dwell on it either unless I feel it – that’s the only time it makes me anxious, but it seems to persist regardless of my mental attentiveness.

Any comments are helpful. Thank you all.

You'll get several posts from people who have experienced the tingly feeling. Fortunately I have not. I will say if you ever get around to taking ecstasy again(which I hope won't be anytime soon), you should be dosing much lower. 250-500mg is not a reasonable dose. The majority of people on this board seem to agree that anything upwards of 200mg is a waste of drugs, and putting yourself at much higher risk of developing symptoms you are experiencing. I imagine someone will pop in here pretty soon and explain what may be causing your symptoms, but as I said, I'm not really qualified to answer.

EDIT: Dosage information is assuming your molly was pretty clean.

I've never had it days later...but a few times at the end of the night after probably consuming a bit too much, i've had tingles and pins n needles...and a kind of fuzzy throbbing sensation on my face. it's usually accompanied by a strange sensation in my heart/chest...and the same pins n needles in my hand or arm. It usually gives me anxiety because it makes me feel like a might be on the verge of a medical emergency.

I've never recieved a solid answer to what it is... it could be the verge of an overdose, or a typical comedown reaction for someone who is stimulant sensitive, might be blood pressure trying to regulate...not sure.

250 - 500mgs is not a low dose ! Cut back on the rolling once per month and reduce the amount your using and you will notice that the after effects will also reduce.

Are you taking anything else? I noticed that the pins and needles feeling increased when I was mixing with stims. The pins and needles feeling could be the onset of something called Serotonin Syndrome and is common side effect when taking too much MDMA.

I really would take a break or at least reduce the MG's your taking or these effects could get worse and lead to serious problems.

Good luck

So the general consensus seems to be that what I thought was a safe dose is actually excessive. Point taken. Doesn’t matter too much at this point though since I’ll probably never mess with ecstasy again (unfortunately), or if I did it would be very far in the future. Another note on my personal dosing...I threw those figures out there as a guesstimate of sorts. I was usually just taking what the dealer (friend of mine) weighed out into a capsule for twelve bucks most of the time. Perhaps if I'd paid closer attention, I wouldn't be experiencing what I am now. But I honestly don't think that's the case. Maybe I'm naive.

I’ve heard of people saying they’ve had the sensation in their hands and arms, but I personally haven’t felt that. This is entirely in my head.

Bearlove, what sort of stimulants are you referring to? I had a vodka red bull or two. But I wasn’t doing any other drugs. Your “Serotonin Syndrome” link takes me to a page on “SSRI discontinuation syndrome.” The bit about “brain zaps” sounds pretty similar to what I’m experiencing. Interesting. I wonder how the similarities of symptoms between antidepressant withdrawal and MDMA abuse can be accounted for. I guess that’s a question for a doctor. Which I think I'll ask.

On the other hand, this so called Serotonin Syndrome sounds nothing like what I am describing – I’m not experiencing a single one of the ascribed symptoms. And that seems to be a 24 hour thing whereas what I’m experiencing has lasted for months.

Thank you for the comments. Just talking about it helps.

It sounds like the brain zaps people have described before. It's a sort of 're-wiring' of your brain. I think it is guaranteed that over time you will get better, your brain has an amazing ability to heal itself.

They both cause down-regulation of your 5-HT system. Messing with serotonin levels and such. I'm not sure how common serotonin syndrome is with just MDMA, although it's definitely possible.
