Kratom is "killing your withdrawal" from Opioids, as Kratom itself is an Opioidergic Plant, like poppy for instance. There are various strains of Poppy out there. Some are higher in Opiate content than others. The takeaway is that both of these are birds of a feather, horses of different colors and a third idiom which I will think of later and return to paste in place of this sentence.
They both contain Opioid alkaloids. Poppy's primary, active Opioid is Morphine. A much lesser proportion is Codeine (3-Methylmorphine). The poppy exerts its effects through the alkaloid Morphine and analogs thereof. To compare directly, Mitragynine is the primary, active Opioid alkaloid found within the plant, while there are Mitragynine analogs also. To make things simple, think of taking Kratom as using Mitragynine just how we would evaluate a person's Opium habit as if their drug was Morphine.
I feel badly that this is still not common knowledge. I understand there are cultivars of varying potency like any other plant. The latest development though are these concentrated products. As someone who watched the Opioid Epidemic start and participated in it, this is hard. It's like watching a traincrash in slow motion. There are clearly people who have gotten their tolerance too high. The market is responding unscrupulously by introducing these concentrates as use is clearly skyrocketing.
If I take into account everything I have read, all of Bluelight, what you guys have to say etc. I have come to the conclusion that Kratom/Mitragynine is probably a bit stronger than Codeine I'm totally taking a shot in the dark. My gut tells me that, on a ten point scale, Codeine would be around a 4 and Kratom a 6. I am sure logistics are a reason for the drug's popularity. It is not yet well-known and producers are milking that cow as hard as she can be milked in anticipation of imminent legislation. It can be ordered. I would say a small majority of people who use it are unaware that it is an Opioid.
In case anyone is wondering, I know more than a couple people on here who have become totally fucked by Kratom. I've known people dependent on the powder. I know a kid told me his dosage was limited by how much powder he could actually consume. He was homeless and he would panhandle on the sidewalk and fill his mouth to the brim. That was almost a decade ago. I remember being 90% sure even back then that it was an Opioid just by how the kid described his relationship with it.
I didn't mean to turn this into a Public Service Announcement. I really want everybody to be informed. This stuff is really a mystery to me. I've said it before. I have no idea why they haven't shut it down. There's no way uin hell they're allowing Kratom to remain because we find it helpful for withdrawal.
