Have a presentation - valium or ritalin?

Okay so I have a presentation coming up and I have a lot of anxiety and stage fright and this is not something that can go away by picturing everyone naked or by taking deep breaths. I will literally panic attack and start stammering and that whole charming jazz.

So.. I ruled alcohol out of the picture to calm my nerves and only got ritalin or valium in my stash. I know both can help for anxiety I am just wondering which one should I take? I do not take these drugs frequently at all, I have tried them only a couple of times.

And also, how much dosage on each?

Any helpful answer would be great thanks.

I've taken benzos twice during presentations, and it's not something I'd recommend. One time a propranolol/lorazepam combo, the other time 2 mgs clonazepam. On top of sleep deprivation. Yeah. Needless to say the flow of my speech wasn't the greatest.

The best presentations I've given have been sober, actually, and that's what I'd recommend. But, if I had to choose, I'd definitely take stimulants. Amphetamines have always had a nice anxiolytic effect for me.

I do not have ADHD nor ADD, as far as I know. These are pills I was given by a friend. Sober is not an alternative as I have severe anxiety. And it is something I will deal with later on in life, but right now I just need a quick fix.

Ritalin or Valium and what dosage?

Cheers

if you have anxiety ritalin will shoot it through the roof. While ritalin makes me more nervous it also helps me to focus, read, and act in front of an audience better. It seems like when I'm on ritalin the social anxiety is replaced by general anxiety which is easier for me to handle. I would choose ritalin as benzos just make me stupid and depressed even at low doses.

I'm prescribed Adderall 15mg 3x a day and Klonopin 1mg 3x a day.

Stims increase my anxiety a lot. So I take my benzo along with it I'm focused and my anxiety is lowered tons.

Two different meds I'm talking about here, same drug class. I hope this helps.

You could take the valium for its anxyliotic effects and combine it with a smaller dose of ritalin for increased concentration and focus or you could do the inverse.

Propranolol is great and you can easily get a script for it, as it isn't controlled. It will stop your hands from shaking, and help with physical manifestations of anxiety. It is actually a blood pressure med I believe, but it's used off label for social anxiety. Valium would work as w

I have hyperactive ADHD, I keep highlighted sections and check the clock every 5-6 paragraphs which has my list near it without meds.. If I want to tutor my students in Konjunktiv II in all of the different verb forms and relative pronoun usage for instance, I am like a monster on a full dose of Adderall.

If you have severe anxiety, take 5mgs of Valium, that will definitely calm.you down & you will be able to focus on the task at hand instead of being nervous.......if you need to take more, take 2.5mgs at a time to be where you need.

I recommend taking the first dose an hour before your speech so you can be accustomed to the feeling.

Never ever take a stimulant for anxiety.......

Some stimulants help some people with anxiety :) Dexamphetamine has a strong anxiolytic effect for me, increasing with dose, paradoxical to the tweaked out effect people without ADHD may feel.
Methylphenidate is more likely to increase anxiety in my experience.
I'd go with the diazepam (Valium) in 5mg increments, like TheLostBoys suggested :)

If you can get propranolol, as others have mentioned, it can help for stage fright and social anxiety.
