What would you guys do as a taper from an 8 month 60mg-75mg / day oxycodone habit. In pain management, cant get refill for 10 days.

I, personally, would go to the Vicodin first, because that would be hydrocodone, and though there is a ton of cross-tolerance, it is still not oxycodone. What I'd do is start at 2.5 mg hydrocodone four times a day (every six hours), which should last you the first five days, then take 2.5 mg oxycodone four times a day (every six hours) the last five days - that would take you through all of your pills (the five Percocet 10's and the ten Vicodin 5's), and last you the ten days. It will still be very shitty, but not as bad as dropping to nothing at all. I would recommend doing a cold turkey cut if the refill wouldn't come in to probably 20 days or more, but I don't think it'd be worth it for just ten days. But, you have to sort of pick your poison, and clean-cut cold turkey opiate wd's are just horrible (even though tapering your opioid of choice to kick your habit will often lead to more agony, depending on the person, his/her particular habit's course of progression and length, and the opioid - but, from what I understand you want to be as comfortable as possible and not taper to kick your particular habit). I am writing this assuming that you wish to go back to the 60 mg to 75 mg/day when you can get your refill. If you would really want to kick it altogether, that it'd be totally different. For the ten days where you won't have enough, I'd also supplement with some Imodium (generic is loperamide) at a regimen of about 4 mg four times a day (every six hours), which should help some considering the drastic drop. Other comfort drugs with which you have experience, obviously you can use with caution and prudence to help out the symptoms of wd's caused by the drop in dose.

Hope this helps.

Well are my wd's gonna be THAT bad, if I cold turkey tomorrow? Taking in consideration the dose I am on and rather short amount of time. Thoughts from you experienced guys appreciated.

Is your goal to come off completely or use conservatively until you get your refill in ten days?

Loss of pain control and withdrawals, I feel for you. I know what I'd do to avoid withdrawals but I've never had to worry about pain control at the same time.

There are some great threads pertaining to withdrawals and how to curb em already posted on BL. If I were you, I'd do a search for opiate withdrawal on BL. I think there is also a pain management mega thread somewhere around here. Maybe (if it exists) someone can post a link.

I'd also research what potentiates opiates, like basifying your digestive track with Tums.

GOOD LUCK!

Calderone ........Although I would be liar if I said I didn't like the buzz I get from these pills, I am a legitimate chronic pain patient and need them daily. So I will be continuing my opiate consumption.

It might be rough trying to make those tablets last you another 10 days. What you could do tomorrow is take two vicodan - one in the morning and one at night. Do that for the next four days. The following five days you could use Percocet by breaking them in half. In between doses, you can try ibuprofen. I found it helps quite a bit with extending pain relief. Hang in there!
