Had enough with cigarette taboo in America?

When the law in quebec to ban smoking from all indoor place went in application I was pretty happy, but then I wasn't taking any *drug* and I wasn't going in any afterhours/rave...

you still can smoke in those place and it's so nice to gather together and smoke some weed/cigarette and no one care. I mean if I didn't want to smell the smoke I just could not go there....

I really think been overweight is a WAY major concern than smoking, but I don't see any big mac ban yet 8)

Soon we will be living in a bubbled environement everything will be classed by risk of harm.... I don't want that:|
 
Cigarettes smell like shit, and if you don't smoke and want to go to the bar, it sucks. You go into a bar for 5 min and all you smell is stale cigarettes. Why the fuck do you think you have it rough because you can't smoke in some places? I can't beleieve that anyone would ever start an addiction in the form of cigarettes. Maybe take some psychadelics and reflect on how stupid it is to smoke cigarettes. Quit being a damn baby, and griping on a blog abot cigarettes. Is nicotine considered an OD? Why is this post here?

** The majority don't smoke. Thats why you cant do it inside of public places. What is so hard to understand?
 
I am not a smoker but i definately agree, it's getting a little ridiculous. Our whole town has banned smoking from all restaurants and bars and is in the process of making all three college campuses in our area smoke-free. I guess I can understand that people don't want to be breathing in second-hand smoke while they're eating but now students can't even smoke outside on their way to class?
 
^ their might as well be laws against suicide if that's whats going on.
 
Seriously, how hard is it to step outside and smoke when it's sparing the lungs of all the other people, including children in some instances? I agree that it needs to be an all-or-nothing approach to self-destructive behaviors and lawmaking: either criminalize/tax/stigmatize ALL unhealthy behaviors and addictions or none. (None would be my pick). But if what you're doing can damage others simultaneously, whether in a bar/restaurant or any other public place, it shouldn't be too much trouble to go to the car or step outside.

Smoking is permitted in all casinos here in Vegas and that alone really makes me not wanna go. I don't judge smokers because it's legal and you have a right to smoke, but I also have a right to NOT get exposed to secondhand smoke in public places. For smokers, it's an inconvenience, but for non-smokers who would be exposed to secondhand smoke, which can trigger asthma, allergies, and cause cancer, emphysema, etc., it would be more than an inconvenience to breathe it. Feel free to argue. :)
 
I've actually developed a hell of a cough for awhile as a kid, while i was in a sports bar that was being hotboxed with cigarettes by adults. Their was so much fucking tobacco smog that it was difficult to see the soccer game on the screen. I didn't know better back then so I stayed. I was puking up tarry phlegm all day after that.

I don't oppose you being able to smoke in a tobacco shop if that's all it sells, but restuarants and shit... theirs kids man and other healthy people who don't smoke. Most people smoke commercial cigarettes, so just because you smoke natural tobacco, that doesn't really support your argument.

where i'm from (Calgary, AB) smoking was officially banned OUTDOORS as of feb 08, on public or city property; still legal on privately owned propety though ofc
 
Second hand smoke can give me pretty bad headaches, it sucks. I used to hang out in smoke filled rooms almost every night, but now that I have my own place I'm not used to it anymore. I personally don't mind other people smoking, but the second hand smoke can physically bother me unfortunately.
 
Klowns, why should someone else have to goto another restaurant because you want to smoke a cigarette that takes three minutes, maximum?

I would never tell someone to quit smoking but I agree with no smoking in restaurants and other places. I dont wanna smell smoke while I'm eating and I shouldnt have to. period
 
lol, you sound like a moron - who gives a shit, i've been smoking heavily for nearly 10 years now and i don't mind the bans - just because we choose to fuck our lungs up doesn't mean every person sitting around us needs to aswell. and i hate that bullshit about 2nd hand smoke being harmless, i'd rather be safe than sorry and not be responsible for some kids fucked up lungs. only thing that irks me about these bans are the lack of outside areas in clubs/bars/etc

I'm a smoker, and I don't have any beefs with bans in regards to places like, say, restaurants -- even I can get uncomfortable with the haze that can fill the room. Honestly though, the banning of smoking from bars is quite ridiculous. If you go there to drink alcohol, I think that smokers are entitled to fuck up their insides indoors as well.

What really grinds my gears is all these bans effecting OUTDOOR areas. My college is a tobacco-free campus and I believe it's just plain stupid to not allow me to smoke outside, in the goddamn woods, where I'm not harming a soul. It sucks to be on the lookout for patrols because I don't have time to walk all the way off the school grounds to light up when I'm going between classes. Fuck. That. Shit.

And I truly cannot fathom that people get fired from their jobs for smoking during their breaks. What's wrong with getting in a little stress relief before you have to go back inside? And some companies actually TEST you for tobacco? How can you penalize someone for ingesting something that's perfectly legal? Thank God that smoking out by the side doors is a perfectly acceptable tradition at my workplace.

okay that wound up being longer than I anticipated but I'm really sick of the scrutiny smokers receive these days.
 
Is everyone so afraid to die? I refuse to live my life in fear of a recreational, only hypothetically harmful gas. I refuse to swallow a few SELECTED studies on the effects of second hand smoke, and I stand abashed at the lack of tolerance shown toward those who choose to fire up a square.

For shame, U.S.A. This used to be a free country, where people didn't cower in the corner over anything that could harm them.
 
Frankly I've had enough with having to breath in smoke when I come out of class, or at the bus stop or at a restaurant. Stop the charade that smoking in public is just your personal choice, no, its a choice that you make for everyone in your vicinity.

I hope they ban it in every public place in the entire country.
