Hello All,
I look forward to contributing on forums where I have heavy, applicable experience or other information to share. I have struggled in the past with alcohol, benzos, opiates, stimulants, and hallucinogens (and tend to smoke marijuana daily for close to 15 years now -- but that's calmed way down in the last several years). My current drug of choice, unfortunately, is heroin, which I had never touched or seen until about 2 years ago. It's become a problem over the last year and a half and especially lately with recently being introduced to IV use as opposed to snorting (only the past 6 weeks -- hoping to kick opiates all together before it gets more out of hand than it already is).
In my younger years, I was oblivious to how my substance abuse impacted my life, but as I've grown older I've been forced to realize very specifically how things are being impacted by my substance abuse problems and have been working to get them under control. I desperately want to be rid of my most recent problem -- heroin addiction -- but need to find a reason within myself to do it for me, as opposed to a convenience thing because I don't always have money these days to support the habit (and refuse to commit crime to support my habit -- so occasionally will be very sick and incapacitated for days at a time). I look forward to contributing my experience and knowledge to help and be helped by this community (I've been browsing these forums for months getting familiar with how things work and finally can't resist the urge to participate). I'm a very private person and am generally unlikely to give many details that would reveal my identity or specific location (although I work/worked in IT Security for many years and know certain authorities wouldn't have much trouble identifying me regardless of any attempt to obfuscate my identity).
Thanks for reading.
