reconstructed wolf that appeared fall '77- mid '79 is my shit...but think the white travis bean('75-fall '77) was my favorite tone, he should have used it a little lomger but from what i've read it was very heavy

saw two nights of ekoostik hookah at beautiful sunshine day dream park in terra alta, WV

there was some weirdness, but i had a great time
wanted to fight some wooks for yelling at me that i wasn't smiling enough and wasn't having a good enough time and asking why i didn't want to party with them....during both hookah shows i had giant smiles on my face while they were laying their faces in cow shit and human vomit

some of my best friends are people i've only spent a few hours with and will prob never see again - i always get lucky and get to camp next to real people who are smart and shit and not wookies

the place was depressing though, there couldnt have been more than 300 people there, more than half the crowd was outside sitting around the fire listening to some spun out gypsy playing schwag versions of worn out camp fire songs while the best damn band in the land was performing 30 yards away

i got to chat with hookah's guitar player before the 2nd night's show - cool guy, he's pretty intimitating to approach - zero charisma , but i can relate so i got to have a nice 5 minute chat with hin

told him for the first set he should play air guitar and blow the crowd over the mountains and than for the 2nd set bring out the electric so people have something to listen to on their walk back

he said he wasn't good at air guitar

i love the fact he's not friends with anyone in the band, when he showed up the first night everyone hurried up and catered to him
he told me twice out of nowhere that he was spoiled growing up and he was pissed how poor the attendance has dropped in the last two years and that real life is catching up to him

i took that as this is the first time in his life he's been broke and the band could be in jeopardy of hanging it up :(

he told me he stopped listening to GD in '91 cause he hated the midi and vince - i almost gave that mother an indian burn for that comment

I have never ever listened to the Grateful dead, seriously, somehow they just seem to have passed me by, can anyone suggest one of their best most iconic tracks that I should start with ?

^ Uncle John's Band, Sugar Magnolia, Ripple, The Music Never Stopped, St Stephen, Franklin's Tower, Shakedown Street
There is some to get you started, I just posted most of the well known/popular tracks they've done

But seriously live dead is so much better so I suggest trying to find the live versions of these songs, it seemed like it was always just about jamming with them, hardly was there ever a song played the exact same way as before

^ Don't know, maybe because they weren't mainstream at all and had a huge cult like following and still do
I've never seen so much love and admiration for any other band like the fans of the dead have

Did you enjoy the show?
Did Jerry serenade you with his god like solo's?

I watched the first hour then decided I need acid to watch the rest of it, it's bookmarked for a later date :)

Bob Dylan and Bobby are playing Hersheypark together on 9.9.12

I'm looking at you CR.
yep just saw that yesterday i'll be there for the weir and just scream for tough mama during the entire dylan set

sucks, last year i was living 10 miles away from hershey, now i'm over 100

going to see furthur for probably the final time in three weeks up in bethel, NY, usually i'd be anxious and excited but almost feels like an obligation

i have been too obsessive over ekoostik hookah the past year that my love for GD music just isn't what it used to be
can't wait for summer hookah at nelson ledges quarry park during last weekend of july, buckethead is going to be there, his music never really caught my interest but i guess it will be cool to see - i've heard a few people jokingly say hookah's lead guitar player is bucket head, i almost believe it, and thought that before i heard anyone else bring it up

I love the Dead. RIP Jerry. I got a couple shows that just GET ME! I'll post em when I get off and can look at the dates lol

jerbear...really? come on brah......

the canadian scarlet fire from 3/22/90 is one of my all timers, the final believe it or not also from that show is also a tear jerker and awesome

i like 1991 so much more than 1990 though, '90 is better than '85-'88 for sure

(CBS/AP) HARRODSBURG, Ky. - Police in Kentucky have a warrant for the arrest of former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart stemming from an alleged assault after a recent show.

Harrodsburg Police Lt. Chad Powell told The Associated Press on Thursday that the warrant stems from an incident Saturday after a performance by the Mickey Hart Band at Terrapin Hill Farm in Harrodsburg. Hart denies the accusation.

Powell says that the investigation is ongoing and that the paperwork could not be released. Mercer County Attorney Ted Dean was in court Thursday morning and did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

In a statement to CBS News, Hart said he had no idea where the charge came from. "I am totally baffled by a bizarre claim of assault by me coming out of Kentucky - the home of Bluegrass and a state I love dearly," he wrote. "Any accusation or claim of assault against me is completely false and without any basis whatsoever. I played drums on "Shakedown Street," but I never expected to be "The Victim or the Crime."

Details of the incident remain unclear. Hart played with the Grateful Dead from 1967 until 1995.

TMZ first reported the incident. Hart's rep told the site the drummer's camp is looking into the incident.

Hart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Grateful Dead in 1994. In recent years, Hart has played with other surviving members of the group and has headed up the Mickey Hart Band, which has scheduled concert dates this fall.
