34 years ago yesterday is my sweethart, only show ever played in troy, ny

the first set from 5/8/77 doesn't get enough credit and the scarlet>fire gets too much love, several s>f from that run that are equally funky

i'm going to a wedding in denver in september. just realized it happens to be the same weekend further is playing red rocks.

I have a question, does Further write new material or just cover old dead songs?
Also, who plays Jerry's parts in Further, isn't it that dude from Dark Star Orchestra?

And one more, does Further come close to The Grateful Dead's old level of good live music and does the dude playing Jerry's parts sound any where as good as Jerry did?

I'm just curious and like hearing your guy's opinions on stuff like this...

further doesn't come close to the dead. that said, they don't play as sloppy as some 90's dead stuff.

fake jerry is really good. CR is gay for him.

it's a fun time. seeing dead tunes live is always a fun time. pretty stoked to go back to red rocks. it's hard to believe, but it's been almost 10 years since i've been there. south lot, ftw.

no i like jeff mattson from DSO

john k(furthur) bores the hell out of me

furthur shows were fun when they first came around, now shows are just ho hum and the assholes that swarm to their shows really test my patience

and anyone who says 'fake jerry' is a faggot

in that case brent was fake keith, i know how big of hard ons 30-45 year old heads have for brent, think the dude sang like bob seger and his playing never inspired me....but i never saw the dead so my opinion means nothing

brent wasn't fake keith, unless i missed that part of his career where he played the keith part in a tribute band for like 10 years and stole all his licks along the way.

the thing that bothers me about furthur is that it is all sort of contrived, if you get my drift.

yeah the fake keith thing was a stretch, i just hate when people say fake jerry

john k didn't steal jerry's licks, he doesn't even come close to hitting the notes or possessing the timing of jerry
probably cause he's sober, call me an asshole but hardcore drugs can really bring out the best in musicians

jeff mattson is the only clone that i feel like can really hit some jerry style playing
with dso shows i used to be able to guess what year the show was reenacted due to the setlist
now with mattson i can also actually hear it in his playing

the best part of furthur is jeff chimenti, dude has been playing this music longer than any keyboard player that played with GD, some of his solos are fucking ridiculous

i can't even keep up with this conversation, cuz i really don't know shit about any of this new stuff, to be honest.

i don't give a shit....i'm gonna puddle myself and get my swerve on at red rocks with college friends, so of whom i haven't seen in 10 years. i don't give a dog's ass if they play a 30 minute day job.

^lot trash

if you want to party go to one of your friend's back yard

you're such a n00b that it hurts. one day, when you're all washed up and you've done worn out your show dick, you'll go to shows to meet up with old friends and get fucked up like a bicycle wreck as well.

it's never crossed my mind to drop out of school, quit my job, ditch rehab, run away from home, and sell drugs just so i can be a part of some traveling burn-out family reunion

call me whatever you want

Was anyone able to make it to the annual "Grateful Dead Meet-up At The Movies" on Bicycle Day? They played Alpine Valley 7/18/89 in select theaters. Fried my face off. #_#. It was so rad...
