i took the greatest class when i was at depaul in 2002 called 'hip-hop 101'
it was all about music, graf, and breaking
shit was very, very cool
this dude Vulcan from NYC even came and spoke to our class
his shit was siiiiiiiiiiiiiick
graf is awesome

edit: doofqueen, nice work!

You went to DePaul? I just graduated last year. I don't think they still have Hip-Hop 101 as a class option. Sounds pretty rad though. :)

yeah i like phem much better too but i've done a 2nd one and it turned out shit so don't want to post it ad havnt done one since lol I'm o used to doing "Misi" that i have to learn how to be creative with other letters...

I think the colours look rather crap actually hahaha Were you being sarcastic by any chance? lol Although i have been told it's earthy which is nice :)

Surprised I made it to page six without seeing Style Wars mentioned.

Another new york graffiti video that's worth watching: State Your Name

What I have always appreciated about graffiti is, at least in New York, how apolitical it is. Kids write for fame, not street artists like banksy or other artists trying to 'reclaim public space' -- it's nothing so romantic. There's no theoretical component to it.

People who complain to writers about vandalizing public property miss the point entirely, the people out in the street writing don't think they're doing a good thing; they know they're committing a crime, fucking your shit up and enjoying every second of it. Graffiti is about complete indulgence.

yeah style wars was an interesting little flick. Only watched that myself a few months back.

Here's my last two

just seen your more recent pieces doofqueen you've come on loads since the start of this thread nice work keep it up :D

^Pretty cool man. Imagine if we had to know how to hijack those screens all up in Times Square and put up our own moving images and sounds on them. I could see that video popping up and everyone around tripping ballsacks about it. Culture jamming ftw.!!

Anyhow, if anyones interested, I starting uploading all the local graff pics i take to flickr after I lost my hdd... If anyones interested, I'll be updating it periodically....
