Good YouTube/etc Channels worth watching

FFS I've certainly messed up my youtube algorithm regarding their AI content over these last few weeks.

For a while I was getting nothing but AI slop of the very worst kind, the kind that has not even been proof-read / listened to by the creator for errors, not just small errors but huge errors where whole passages make no sense what so ever.

The thing is, I found one or 2 AI channels that had some OK content, but liking such content or even having it in your history turned out to be incredibly bad news, as from then on, youtube takes it as a green light to swamp you with AI, good, bad, and terrible.

Many probably know that the only remedy is to remove all traces from history, and never watch this stuff again. And also keep selecting 'do not recommend channel', whenever you see this crap pop up as suggestions.

I'm glad to say that this is working, and my feed has now been restored to containing content created by the humans that I have subscribed to, as they put work and effort in to their content, and I'd much rather support this type of creator.

The proliferation of AI is terrifying, with some channels putting out dozens of videos every day, and really swamping the platform if you're not careful.

Fortunately a huge proportion is easily and instantly recognisable by the thumbnail alone, due to the mass use of crappy animation in this type of content.

This is a very niche video, but I've noticed that there are a lot of neurodivergent people posting on BL i general and also in EADD specifically, and probably loads more lurkers, some of whom may be interested in what Paul has to say. Some people may not be sure whether they are Autistic or not, perhaps checking this guy out might help.

I really like this guys takes on Autism.

He absolutely flat out doesn't follow the general herd of most Autistic content creators. He truly thinks for himself, and is totally outside of any boxes. But he's also totally grounded, and has masses of common sense, with which he puts the world to rights, and destroys nonsense. He's also local to the Greater Manchester area. A Top guy. And a Top content creator imho.

the algorithm pisses me off, it's bias to new things you watch is just too high.

I generally watch totally new stuff in private browsing and only watch it in my real feed if it's good and I want my feed polluted with related content.

strangely watching new stuff that gets in your feed naturally seems to have a lower bias weighting, so I'm more relaxed clicking through on things.

i rarely click on like as well, i've got a decent curated feed now as a result.

then the kids get hold of it and I get fucking polluted with Olivia Rodrigo!!!

Depends what sort of things you like.

@sh1vambuDancer

Storror used to be amazing entertainment, for those times you just wanted to watch amazing action and skills.

The last time I checked their page, they seemed to have moved every single video to paid subscribers / member only viewers, which was disappointing, but I s'pose you cant blame them if plenty of people will pay to view their stunts, as most really are amazing.

Sorry to hear you've had some bad news.

youtube is definitely tracking me on here; I had Storror appear in my feed for the first time in ages on Monday evening, after mentioning them on here, a very short time before.

And they had a new free video! Yay!

Well, switching off one's Youtube history can be incredibly liberating.

Since it knows nothing whatsoever about me I get what term 'floor sweepings' of ads.

Evidently perimenopausal women must be the most gullable demographic.

Yes, I am sick of those long, long queues for those walk in on-the-spot NHS eye tests; all explained to me in simple terms by what I assume are American voice actors.

Truly, you get to see some truly bizarre ads and some truly, truly terrible acting. I bet the budgets are up to anything like ohhh...... $70?

BUT what scares me is that I ASSUME these sellers pay for their ads to be screened and the fact the same ad has appeared for months suggests SOMEONE believes them!

It's that moment of clarity where you truly come to understand that if there is such a thing as 'average intelligence' then 50% of people must be below that average and the best thing is, stupid people don't know they are stupid. We suffer the stupidity they are blissfully unaware of. So do they in fact seek to punish those who don't comply? Am I in fact targetted by them just so a bit somewhere in a cookie is set... so I get another equally unappatizing oppotunity to go sports fishing in Nebraska or buy a $99 double mattress?

Whatever is going on, I just find it fascinating that people fall for it.
