GOOD jeans??

It's so hard to find jeans that fit right. I'm not really sure what body type you have -- but Guess and Bebe jeans fit really well on me. If you are curvier or have a decent amount of "padding" in the back, Bebe jeans probably won't fit as well. But Guess is always a good shot.

Other brands that work well.. for me, at least - Yanuk, Frankie B, Sacred Blue, & True Religion. Sevens & Citizens of Humanity sometimes fit well too (depends on the style).

Diesel, Gap & Express jeans always look like shit on me. They end up looking like "soccer mom" jeans.

I love jeans. I have way too many pairs already, but I can't seem to keep myself from buying more.

Oh Christ. Quit with the thick waist complaints. I said the same thing in my original post, the one that started this thread, and that's what sparked the (much appreciated) response. I have a thick waist. I am slim, but I don't have a nice sexy, curvy, tiny little waist to go with it. I am thick-waisted. Meaning, in proportion to the rest of my body, I have a thick waist. Not an 'unproportional sized' waist, a thick one. Period. And I'll say it all day. So stop getting sick over it already.

And incidentally I'm quite sensitive about my size/weight, if you couldn't tell. I get shit from the women at my job all the time about how thin I am (I'm not that thin, they're all just overweight and not by a little bit) and how lucky I am to be young and not to have to work for it (bullshit... while you eat fried chicken every day for lunch, I go to a lot of trouble to shop for and cook healthy vegetarian meals... it's not 'luck').

Sorry, long day. :\

Thank you, fairnymph, for the suggestions. I'll have to look into them and see what I can find. And it's nice to know that I'm not alone in my thick-waistedness. :)

As far as the jean hunt goes, I've been fairly unsuccessful so far and have had to return several pairs already. What is it with 'nice' jeans being so freakin' long? All very cute, but just too long. Paper Denim Cloth, in particular, was waaaayyy too long. I'm thinking I just need to get an otherwise good-fitting pair tailored. Anybody had jeans tailored? Do they come out looking stupid?

What size inseam are you looking for? 30" ? I know that oftentimes the A&F jeans are too short for me or at least shorter than I would like, so they'd probably be okay for you (I am 5"5' but I have long legs).

And regarding your little rant SigmaSis...I hear you sister. I would describe my waist in exactly the same manner. I too get shit for 'looking too thin' because I have thin arms and legs. Guess why? Because 90% of the fat on my body is on my STOMACH, and there is none anywhere else.

For the rest of you gals, trust me I don't LIKE looking like a marshmellow with twigs for arms and legs -- I'd much rather be heavier and have a nice normal proportional woman's figure (and be able to wear alot more clothing!).

Sigma: As far as tailoring jeans--it can be done...but I would be VERY selective as to where you take them, especially if you buy boot cut jeans (I know you aren't looking for flare, but I think you wanted a small boot cut). If the tailor messes up the the adjustment, no more boot cut or disproportional boot cut. but I know it can be done.

You've probably already done this, but just in case...make sure you try the jeans in question on with a heel size you normally wear and see where the hem lies on the shoe. You also will probably want to be in heels (normal everyday size) when you get the alterations to make sure you don't have floods when it's all said and done. (unless you don't wear heels)

*Everything* is about proportion. I have a HUGE ass and thighs, but I'm still only a size 10/12 at most, 11 in juniors. My numbers are 34, 26, 40. Think about that. People look at me and go, "You can't be more than a size 5 or 7!!!) And I have to tell them, "no, I'm at least a 9, and that's on a good day." In proportion, my waist and upper body are ridiculously small, as are the bottoms of my legs, but my butt and thighs are ginormous!!! I have yet to understand why jeans companies don't seem to make any pants that fit ANYONE! All I know is that I seem to have a harder time than most people....

You know... I probably should go on a search for a perfect jean. I'm really picky usually. I used to love Old Navy jeans and now I cannot stand them. Aside from the fact that everything at Old Navy runs HUGE and it is kinda nice to buy a 4 from there when I'm normally a 6 ;)

I love American Eagle jeans... but the problem is I already have 2 pairs and sure they have plenty of styles but they all look the same to the casual observer. I love the fit though. I got jeans from Aeropostale months ago, but I only wore them once. I don't really like how they fit or how they look. I'm sick of my Old Navy jeans. Even the ones that a couple months ago I thought were awesome... they're not.

I'm guessing it's time to try a different store ;) I absolutely must wear low-rise jeans as that is the style I'm used to. And either a boot-cut or flared bottom. I'm really picky about washes too. I'm a pain in the ass to shop with because I'm picky lol. Thats why sometimes I just have to go by myself.

Hrmm... I may just have to go to the mall tomorrow. I'm thinking I'll try on jeans at the Limited and Express. Years ago I had jeans from the Limited that I LOVED, but then I shrunk a lot!! And then for some reason for awhile they never had jeans at the Limited (seems like everything there got much dressier).

Your cute Nymph! :)

I've been finding some really funky jeans lately which arnt brand new and seem decent quality for a pretty good $$$ :D

Yep. I look sexy in them.

shals :D

First of all, you'll notice I take all my full body shots from the side or at an angle -- NEVER from the front. Also, my weight varies from month to month or week to week by 5-10 lbs. Any weight I gain goes straight to my stomach and nowhere else. I only take pictures, or post such pictures, when I'm at the low end of that range.

almost all women fluctuate 5-10 pounds per month...and people rarely take photos from the front because it makes anyone (no matter what size) look wide.

Shals congrats on the jeans--let see your fly ass in them! ;)

Please don't let this topic get carried away with random comments on how good/bad fairynyphm looks (at least post a picture of jeans on instead of a small ass skirt) this is a topic about jeans.

please do not flame others in this forum. thanks - starlightgemini.

Anyways back to the topic...

Levi's/A&F/ or any lower priced jeans are ones that I fond most comfortably and actually last and not to mention look goood. VonDutch jeans can even put the belt loops on straight??? WTF is up with that is that in style of appealing personaly I think it looks lame. To each his own...

This topic is about jeans, and not about personal attacks regarding size and people's opinions of their body types. I think the issue was debated enough, and I'd appreciate it if any other comments on the issue were taken to PM. I don't want to have to edit any more off-topic posts but I will, if I find it necessary.

Thanks guys :)

*Just a note guys and girls.... I went through and edited all of the off-topic postings. Not only because they were offtopic, but because of the name calling and flaming, which I found to be unnecessary. Please PM me if you have any further comments/questions on the matter. Thanks :) *

omg I finally found the pair of PERFECT jeans (at least on me) and I am so happy. I wanted to hug the salesgirl who went in the back and searched for 20 minutes til she found a size 6 regular length (there were none on display) just when I was about to say fuckit and go elsewhere.

They are from Express, the style is Sarula, they are low rise (3.5 inches below waist), with a slimmer flare leg and the wash is blue abrasion.

I am in love. Cost me $60 to be in love with these jeans but IMO, its worth it :D

^ I used to.. but I tried on the editor pant the other day and didn't like it as much as I did when I bought a pair last year (they've changed them a little).

I got the PERFECT pair of black dressy pants at the Limited last week. The style was Celine. They were $68 but for some reason they were $25 off that day (not even advertised... and I was about to not buy them because they were so pricey but I decided it was a good investment so I headed to the register) so they only cost me $43 :D

A lot of them depend on the material as well. Im not too fond of the slacks with the heavier material, but I love the ones with lighter material. I guess it's because they just feel stiff and bunchy when the material is thicker. I cant compare them to last years though, because I didnt wear 'business-y' clothing then.

Last year's were amazing but I've dropped a size since then, so now they don't fit right. I have a lot of nice clothes that are only a year or a year and a half old but are too big now. I should clean out my closet and see what I can get rid of :)
