Thumbs up for all of you able to enjoy shows sober. But...
...for me it doesn't work that way. I normally don't dance, just step a bit from left to right with a beer in my hands, enjoying the surroundings, but still: not moving much. Sometimes people wonder if I am having a bad time, because I don't move much. This is mostly while going out to 'normal' places in the city though: I never bothered visiting bigger events because I did not see the point in standing still around friends. Until I once thought: 'why not', and went along. That was my first time using E. I enjoyed it very much, was actually dancing a bit and had a great time. Since then I visit such events about once a year. That said, I will never attend without using, since I don't see the point in paying a large amount of cash for standing still while others are dancing: I can sit still at home with my headphones on.
E made my love for a certain genre of music way bigger, and it opened up the possibility for me to let go a bit more, and thus enjoy such events. I disagree with people saying: "if you can't enjoy a party sober, you shouldn't go at all": if you go to such events and are able to have a great time with 'a bit of help' (with moderation), I don't see why you shouldn't.
