I haven't been to a show in forever, and its been Years since I rolled:\
Any tips on how to have a good time?

Nothin wrong with going to a show sober. :)
Just try to enjoy yourself, don't think so much about being sober and just have fun man.
If you have friends that are gonna be rolling, play trip-sitter and just enjoy their company.

I go to a lot of shows sober, maybe have a drink or two. If it's someone you like listening to, there's no doubt you'll enjoy yourself. Just surround yourself with good people who are enjoying themselves, I am sure it will rub off on you. Rolling is fun, but the music is really all that matters. I think at least. :D

I go to most raves/shows sober. My advice is to just get lost in the music, get lost in the moment, and just fucking let go and go mental to the music. Don't ever at any point let yourself think "oh I might look stupid", let your inhibitions go and have a banging night.

I go harder when sober than some people I know are rolling.

theres something pretty fun about being sober sometimes, you hear the music differently, like you hear EVERYTHING. sometimes rolling your so lost in the music that the intricate parts get lost sometimes.

Shows sober are fine, you shouldn't be going if you wouldn't like it sober IMO.
Although for me, completely sober, thats a bit hard due to gettin tired from bouncing around like a nutter, whereas if i took drogz, that wouldn't happen (the tired part) but i can enjoy myself pretty much just as much sober as on drogz, or at least close.

yeah im pretty lucky because im quite energetic

i suppose he could always try caffeine if getting tired is a problem

Sometimes I almost like being sober more than blitzed. I find myself glued to the floor on MDMA, and I love to dance. I don't care if its only me I will go out and dance to the DJ by myself rolled or not. Its all about what kind of experience you are trying to have. I'm a kandi kid though, so I love getting high off of stopping people from busting their teeth with lollipops.

During my party years of going to raves I rolled probably almost everytime for the first two years. The next 8 years I only rolled at raves once in a blue moon if it was a special occasion like my youner brother wanted to roll at a rave so I did it with him his first time. Or someone I haven't seen in years was coming to my area for a rave and they were going to roll. 95% of those last 8 years I didn't roll until after the rave. It would be about 6am and we would pop our pills in the car and go back to my old apartment (the sin den is what we called it lol) or we would go to an after party. Seems like once you have been in that scene for so many years it gets to a point rolling at a party got looked down on. I truly have a passion for edm mostly house and all its sub genres so I enjoyed going and dancinng and meeting new people. I was just as open with people as I was on pills.

since its been a pretty long time since youve done either of those things, even separately, then i think you will still enjoy yourself just fine. ive been to shows sober and theyre good still.

Thumbs up for all of you able to enjoy shows sober. But...

...for me it doesn't work that way. I normally don't dance, just step a bit from left to right with a beer in my hands, enjoying the surroundings, but still: not moving much. Sometimes people wonder if I am having a bad time, because I don't move much. This is mostly while going out to 'normal' places in the city though: I never bothered visiting bigger events because I did not see the point in standing still around friends. Until I once thought: 'why not', and went along. That was my first time using E. I enjoyed it very much, was actually dancing a bit and had a great time. Since then I visit such events about once a year. That said, I will never attend without using, since I don't see the point in paying a large amount of cash for standing still while others are dancing: I can sit still at home with my headphones on.

E made my love for a certain genre of music way bigger, and it opened up the possibility for me to let go a bit more, and thus enjoy such events. I disagree with people saying: "if you can't enjoy a party sober, you shouldn't go at all": if you go to such events and are able to have a great time with 'a bit of help' (with moderation), I don't see why you shouldn't.

sounds like a problem with your confidence or self-esteem that you need to figure out tbh.

at first to go to festivals or big shows I had to roll or I'd just stay off to the side and enjoy the music, or drink. but now I am finding I can enjoy the shows completely sober, one drink or 2. and will dance. but at bigger and all night shows I prefer to be assisted, to keep me going.

I still usually have a bit more fun if I have a few drinks or roll, but that's more because of loosing inhibitions, and having the energy to dance longer.
