for many people goa trance and psytrance are synonymous. try a search here for psytrance - there's a lot of good discussion with good recommendations.

Yeah, there are several threads on here highlighting some of the better psy-* stuff.... dubby, chill, progressive, morning, full-on, dark... tons of good recommendations.

Goa Trance really refers to the 'older school' of psychedelic trance, not many artists would call themselves Goa artists now. Some good Goa artists include Astral Projection, Man With No Name, Cosmosis, Eat Static, Juno Reactor, Mandra Gora, Kox Box, X-Dream, Fractal Gliders- though there neewr stuff is probably called 'psy'- meh, genres are annoting. :)

I was referring to actual Goa Trance... theres a difference. None of them, except Hallucinogen were around for the era when psy was called Goa . . .
 
Most of the music listed in that topic is full on, most of the time very cheesy and far from psychedelic. There's some good full on thouhg but that's not the majority :). You should check psynews.org, do a search there and you'll find alot of oldskool goatrance also newer releases like full on and psytrance.

Goa Trance really refers to trance originating from Goa, also using 'ethnic' or eastern melodies- see Astral Projection. Groups like Space Tribe, Fractal Glider, X-Dream, SUN Project all were exposed to trance at Goa, took the sound home, which was called Goa Trance. Since Goa is no longer the psychedelic mecca it was, its more accurate to refer to psy trance as psy trance :). Goa trance is an older genre, that really does not exist anymore. Get with the times, some people simply call psy trance TRANCE- now how forward thinking is that? :)
 
I would refer to Goa Trance as more upbeat, slightly cheesy (in a good way) psy trance old school tunes. Doesn't exist anymore, and psy is psy. :)

but usually most oldskool psychedelic trance is called goa by many..

well , trance was mostly produced by europeans, Goa was the place where some of the first & best psy-hippie parties took place..
But the style goa is associated with certain melodies, sounds, synths.....

Some people even back in the old days made a distinction between goa trance & psy-trance, i refer to most of the older stuff as psychedelic goa trance..
Yes, today most psytrance has indeed different style.. I like some of todays dark psychedelic trance...

Blasphemy...! skazi isn't goa.. IMO only his album 'Animal' was worth. He has too much of a rock-star attitude nowadays.. blah
 
^^Yeah, but Skazi has really inspired me to drink pepsi, and for that I'm grateful. On the net forum oztrance he posts a bit, and he's pretty much like fuck you all, I'm rich hehe, with a hint of psychedlic anarchy involved. His music is certainly not goa.

Can anyone porssibly link some olf Goa Gill sets if their floating around???
