Goa Trance

Goa trance is wicked stuff. Its what got me into electronic music which is now my life! Try sphongle's divine moments of truth (DMT)!

StarOceanHouse you wont go wrong checking out anything on the lable TIP, argue if you like, but this lable was the pioneer of goa. TIP yellow is highly recomended, or look for a mix by Growling Mad Scientist called Top Of The Tips.

aussies put out some VERY distinctive 'psy', not sure what lable or artist to recomend but check out that regions flavor.

Aussie psy- fullon: Mantrix, Fractal Glider, Siaqua, Hired Goons, Illusion of Self.

Prog: Decoy, FreQ, Suncontrolspecies, Phat Kontrollerz, these are just a few good aussie psy trance groups.

a comp just jumped in my head that i belive was aussie i think. it was titled The "Wizadry Of OZ".

willow11 have you heard of a project called Ooze, they are austaliens also i think. the album i have is "Where The Fields Never End". this is very psychedelic w/ alot of breaks/trip hop beats, dub bass, w/ lots of atmospheric layers and natural sounds&voices. the artist i was told after asking(seems clear) he/they were classically trained musicians w/ violin(violin type patterned melodies and noises/violin resonances).

lots of Simon P projects mentioned lets not leave out: Mystery Of The Yeti, and
Celtic Cross.

Ooze isn't Australian, he's Seb Mullaert from Sweden, half of Son Kite. Great stuff though, he has another album coming out late next year from that project.

As far as Australian psy goes I think the person who brought it up was probably thinking more along the lines of the stuff that was coming off the Psy-Harmonics label such as Shaolin Wooden Men, Rip Van Hippy, etc. It's pretty different sounding for sure, if you've ever heard any Finnish stuff like Texas Faggott you kinda know the sound, I think alot of them got inspiration from the early Psy-Harmonics stuff.

I think that Skazi poster on Oztrance is just a regular taking the piss?

Hmm I dunno actually, a lot of artists do post on Oztrance, I don't know why someone would use someone elses name. But your probably right, I may be gullible :D

Shaolin Wooden Men and Rip Van Hippy aren't really that trancey though- Andrew Till does play a lot of psytrance however. Those groups are from the era of psy when it was Goatrancwe.

This thread is confusing because I think the original poster meant plain psy-trance, but we've all started on the defining and shit.

Its a good idea to look for labels if you want old school Goa/Psy trance, Flying Rhino, TIP, Dragonfly, Phantasm.....

The reason I said goa and not psy was because my friend was telling me that Astral Projection was Goa. But I like where this thread went. But I am looking for older trance, not so much the newer stuff.

i would like to reinerate MFG, they have that big/epic sound as does astralprojection at times.

oooooh, and the Greeen Nuns Of The Revolution. they are some of the best at the old goa sound you desire but, they can a lil silly at times.:)

Check out Crop Circles, Pleiadians-Identified Flying Objects-the craziest old school there is, Miranda, old Deedrah and Lepton Head, Shakti, Darshan, old Tristan

Don't forget Mr. Peculiar! His new stuff sounds great too. As well as his project with his girl, Auricle, their combo is called Hyperception.
