ok, well ona the things i luv about the our rave scene is the unreal colours n outfits n cool stuff we wear!! i luv leg warmers and reflectors and all that colourful n fluffy stuff (call me a candyraver or whateva) but i luv it all, how much fun is it when ur out going "wow" look at what that persons wearing or "how cool are her pants", its unreal cos everyone can just wear whateva the fuck they like!! yeah ima skirt over pants chick too, i luv the look of it.. n yep thats rite.. if it gets too hot whip off the pants... n there u go!!

I've always wondered how that stupid pointless fashion started... skirts over pants pfffft hahahaha. But... you're already wearing pants!
I went out tonight with three friends (all blokes mayte!) and I come out wearing shorts (I wear shorts out of the house probably once a year... uh-oh wait... it's because I never get warm in pants and find windlessness more comfortable... and shorts suck) and my football shirt (English). I wear my football shirt out never, only ever to go play football in, it's just a bit bright for my taste. Anyway I meet up with my three maytes.... two are wearing football shirts and shorts! Made for a funny night out at the local pub.
What happens to girls when a similar thing happens... being a male I suppose I'd think you sort it out over an arm wrestle or something. My top looked the best anyway

Melbourne must be so different to Sydney. Up here, we dont get the whole Kandy Kids thing happening. They are few and far between. And as for the skirt over the pants thing, that kind of went out a couple of years ago.
I'm not paying you guys out by the way, I just think its amazing how different it can be between the two cities.
I have to admit, that I kind of laugh at the kandy kids (or kiddycore and I call them) and skirt over pants people, but thats just because we dont get much of it up here. I am sure that if I was in Melbourne, it would be a different matter.
I just wear what I feel comfortable in. In Summer usually a cargo type skirt, or just a knee-length skirt and singlet top. As long as I am comfortable, I'm happy.
As for the sunnies thing, I know a friend of mine wears hers cause the lights really freak her out when she is pilling. Her eyes start going weird, so the sunnies help. I cant imagine that thats everyones problem though!

Anyway, have fun people, and I will see all you Melbourne people at Welcome 2001!!!!

I don't think it's a case of certain clothes being "sooo 1999". It has more to do with what people feel comfortable in and where they go when they go out.
I personally don't even own a pair of 3/4''s - but then I don't really go clubbing much. When I do go out I go to parties in the bush or to places like 61 Regent Street. There the attitude is wear whatever you want.

I agree that people should wear whatever they feel comfortable in. Especially if it's pigtails, kandy beads, legwarmers, skant, boobtube and binkie. The mere sight of such a fashion victim would provide me with hours of amusement

I have a uniform myself - trainers, black pants & longsleeved top in winter; trainers, 3/4 cargos and singlet in summer - which I thought was nothing out of the ordinary until I went to Seven (in Melbourne) a few weeks ago and all the short skirt/high heel girls stared at me! Here in Canberra, they'd be the ones getting stared at.
Not that it bothered me, cause I knew I was still the hottest babe there.
