"Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun."

Not that I'm calling you an English Man or a mad dog, hahaha, but i trust that you get the idea.

When i was on holiday with a friend in Turkey they were having a heatwave and the temperatures were even hotter than normal over there, above 40c, and a concerned carpet shop keeper called us in out of the heat saying pretty much 'are you mad, this kind of heat has killed people'. Im not sure if thats true, but we both felt fine. (

I work outdoors, and have just worked through the hottest temps ever recorded on this country. It hit 42.8 one day, and was over 40 for around ten days straight at one point.

I was taking in up to 12l of water over a ten hour day, with rehydration solutions. Very hard to think straight in peak heat.

Random evening.

Went to a pizza shop to buy something, and while I Was waiting I asked for a margarita to drink, as I always do. The guy brought me a margarita pizza I didn't want, so I took it to my mates pub for it to be eaten, and was plied with high grade Coke (almost unobtanium) and decent booze, company was nice too!

Home rashed on me hammock now with a spliff and some ice water with sides of beer. Good Monday.

Just got home and had a nice smoke.

Jesus, i guess you get used to it to a point, but even then you'd still need gallons of water & rehydration solutions. You can't do much more than that. If you'd all started getting heat stroke or heat exhaustion though, would your boss have let you all have a break in the shade to cool down a bit, recover, and to re-hydrate?

I guess that the effects on thinking could be one of the first warning signs of heat stroke?

I am the boss in that area of our work, yeah, rest and break for fluid intake and cooling as often as possible. You wouldn't get anything done otherwise. Just get heat exhaustion.

It can be a sign of heatstroke, but it's also just more difficult to think in extreme heat. I become irritable, hot headed people get worse, from what I see.

Thankfully the rains have come, and temps have stabilised in the mid 30's. I was over that shit.

Fuck me pink. I cannot stand this heat. My thermometer is reading 26c at this time of day (it may not be accurate). I'm nearly out of ice lollies, too.

^ Jackal - How long did it take you to get even slightly acclimatised to the heat in SE Asia?

Don, I'm with ya there pal, It's too fucking hot! It's also humid as hell. I'm too acclimatised to the weather here these days. I don't think I could ever go back home man, that shit is too hot.

Consumer, That's mad! The worst thing is, those houses look quite expensive. Can't see too many insurance companies offering them a deal. One would hope they aren't totally fucked after that.

I'm neville bartos mate, im fuckin flying.
Haha. Chopper. Great film. Interesting character in real life too. I saw him do stand up with Australia's most famous corrupt cop Rodger Rodgerson who is now on a murder charge for being involved in killing a young ice dealer and stealing his 3 or so kilos of ice. Chopper was hilarious live. The portrayal in the movie of him was very accurate and brilliantly done.

They would have been uber expensive properties. They should never have been allowed to build so close to the beach. Part of me feels sorry for them but a lot of me goes well what the fuck did you expect? Anyway i am off for some surfing therapy. Yesterday had some of the best surf ive ever seen in Newcastle and we get bloody good waves. It was too big for me though, absolutely massive waves. The swell is supposed to drop so after coffee and a bacon and egg roll i am hitting the waves with my mates. Much needed. Surfing is so relaxing and fun. Liquid yoga..maybe liquid sex is closer to the experience. A lot of surfers say its better than sex. I wouldn't go that far..they just haven't had great sex. Anyway ciao. Waves to catch.

Talking of heat, I've just managed to kill my microwave by putting it on full power for 13 minutes - without putting anything in it!! I'm such a fuckin cunt...

(I haven't dared tell the wife yet) :(
Thats because i pinched your other one and replaced it one i found on the street. I needed yours to follow your phone repair instructions

Fear not! I hope you she hasn't found out yet because I know just how to fix it.

You simply need to put your broken microwave into a bigger microwave and put it on high power for 13 minutes.

Don't actually do this, kids.

You'll be needing a new microwave, sir. From what I gather, you've burned out the magnetron. I don't think even Julie would go messing about with trying to replace that. It's probably several times cheaper to buy a new microwave.

disregard everything Don says as pish

Some of my friends have actually given that disclaimer to people before they've met me for the first time :(

I was afraid some innocent soul, such as yourself, might actually read that and follow the technique so I edited the post in the interests of harm reduction and avoiding litigation :sus:
