Gibberings episode 0x000000c6(?) -- No in outs or butts about it. Anal fissure!

the thing about MDMA, is that you get this glimpse of what its like to be totally at ease with yourself, other people, and life in general - then it wears off and its back to grim reality.

I felt like I was just torturing myself doing this. Still, I've had some unforgettable experiences on MDMA And wouldn't change that for anything.

Not taking owt personally SHM, just don't know what you mean - even in the 'general' sense.. C'mon, bloody explain yerself....

Not sure what you don't get?

"MDMA floods the brain with serotonin."

Self-explanatory?

"Anti-depressants drip feed it pointlessly."

AD's don't 'flood' it. They release and block the reuptake gradually. My opinion is that this is pointless.

"Drop the anti-depressants"

My view is that AD's are shit and money makers for big pharma. Most studies show anti-depressants to be no better than placebo.

"YMMV"

Your mileage may vary. I.E Your opinion may differ to mine.

"But that doesn't make you right"

My arrogance beats your placebo.

My view differs because I believe lessons can be learned and brought back to 'reality' making a beneficial effect for 'real life'. My whole point, kinda shared by Warrior I feel from his post, is that MDMA is a tool for learning, not an experience that exists solely outside of our 'normal' lives. I don't see drugs as 'other'. OK, maybe Salvia. ;)

Yes, that makes a little more sense..

True, ADs don't 'flood' the brain with serotonin, they inhibit its reuptake leading to a net increase in serotonin levels. I merely said 'flooded' to keep things simple.

However, YMMV doesn't generally mean 'your opinion may differ to mine', it usually means 'you may have a different experience', this is where my confusion arose because following "YMMV" with "But that doesn't make you right" didn't appear to make sense.

But you're right about your arrogance... :p

Well surely, experience is a major factor in formulating opinion? We can read as many scientific studies as we wish but if they conflict with our own direct experience, it's hard beyond reason to move away from the subjective...

"But you're right"

I knew you'd come round. :)

the first time I tried MDMA, i thoguht 'jesus christ this should be used as a therapy tool'.

SHM - I do bring back things learned from drug experiences, MDMA makes me a bit jekyl&hide tho, I totally come out of my shell and am a different person on it. Afterwards I find it difficult to maintain that outlook for more than a couple of weeks.

Why though? I thought you said it gives horrible comedowns? And others who have taken it years ago, said it gave then anxiety n paranoia later on. How, in that case, would it be a good therapy tool?

Evey

if you take it regularly, too much of it, for too long, the negatives begin to outweigh the positives, like any other drug. A one off dose of MDMA in the right setting could be a very valuable therapy tool imo.

Because they would be exercising proper control over set, setting and dosage, in the perfect environment to deal with any negative effects of the drug and to mitigate the symptoms of a comedown. And hopefully have a clue what they were doing.

Believe me Ceres, I'm not trying to start a fight with you here. But where do we draw the line? Because my experience is this (as you may know). I've taken MDMA for 26 years. Vitally, this includes a period, 1994-1997, where I took it twice a week for three years. Over 300 doses in 3 years. And the negatives did not outweigh the positives.

Now, despite aforementioned arrogance, I do not think I am special.

I do think I got the set and setting, largely helped by my gf, correct.

Just saying and all that. I really don't think it's as black and white as the "MDMA will cause you brain damage" statements, or the appalling ecstasy forum on this website, make out.

yeah I think everyone is different. Personally for me I decided I needed to stop when I was regularly finding myself just sat alone crying the day after the MDMA. I couldn't handle how outgoing it made me, made me feel like there is something wrong with me when I'm sober (which htere is, depression).

Many of my friends did loads of it for years on end never had any problems.
