I looked at the trains but they seem to take forever (and with suitcases) - I was thinking about doing a few smaller stops via car in the same time it would take via train. Were going to the tea plantation and may even stay in the hotel they have (looks fantastic). That loving Nest looks really nice and the location is great, Im not sure if he booked already for Galle (needed a hotel for visa, needed visa for booking), he is very particular about where we stay when we travel and was looking for a Hilton :D.
Does the place (bars clubs etc) all close at 2am ? Are they strict about that or do some places just stay open as long as your buying? Are the pharmacies similar to those in Thailand? I thought that was one of the extra bonuses of having a driver - he can do any shopping that I may require.
Haha well that's what you get for asking for information on a drug forum Bear. You live in a different world mate. Most of us don't stay in the Hilton and do our own driving.
I loved the trains in Sri Lanka, travelling with locals is part of the deal of getting to know the place you're going for me. Yes the trains are slow, they have some ridiculous gradients to deal with, but you can go from one end of the country to the other for about £3.
Bars in Colombo stay open all night, well the all night ones do, but I wasn't a massive fan of Colombo. You won't move fast through Colombo in a car. It's a Buddhist country, not Muslim, so alcohol isn't a problem. Pharmacies are good for valium in SOME places, Galle was good but Kandy I tried loads and couldn't find any. There were alternatives in Kandy, you could get Midazolam (which I think is shit) and some kind of Bro-something or other alternative to Valium. Just buy shit loads in Galle.
Negombo has a nice beach, just north of Colombo.
Hilton hahaha. Are you OTW in disguise?
EDIT There are posh places to stay in the fort in Galle. If you aren't staying somewhere in the fort, you're missing a treat. But you probably are. In fact I can picture where.
