Ooft, that was a bad call. Best hope the object of your desire has hayfever or one of those mediaeval nose-masks full of pot pourri they deployed in times of plague... by some miraculous chance. Hey, what's your take on all the thin and expensive fashion leather jackets which have flooded the high street? It's my view that the owners of leather jackets which can't be thrown on a grimy pub floor and kicked all over the place, possibly with them in it, should be thrown on a pub floor and kicked all over the place, innit.

Any object of my desire is probably snug within the institution they call home right now, so no worries.

Too right. It's bad enough that limp-wristed, six-stone nancies like me dress like faux bikers, but there's a line that shouldn't be crossed.

In other news...the BBC yesterday on the military removal (aka a coup) of Egypt's elected leader

A democratically elected president has certainly been removed from office by the military, and that by anyone's definition sounds like a coup.

But again, one set of elections, whatever the popular yearning for change, did not make Egypt a democracy.

It was, like so many other countries in the region, on a journey to democracy: establishing new roles for key institutions; creating the representative bodies of civil society; and above all creating the habits of democracy in both people and political leaders.

Arrghh this has been killing me for days! I made (and quickly removed) a post in the current affairs section the other night - 60 years to form democracy, less than 12 months later rebel against it and give the rule back to the army. We want democracy - actually we don't like what democracy has brought - we think military coup = win.

There are rules set out for what happens if martial law is declared here. They did it for the threat of nuclear war. And yes, the rules involve shoot on sight for disobedience.

There are some odd ones too (if that's not odd enough). Things like the Mayor of London gets a +1 to take with him to this huge underground bunker they've got for the important people. It's a bizarre document, can't think where I was reading it recently.
 
SCOTLAND TO GET A TENNIS COURT

SCOTLAND is to get its first tennis court in recognition of Andy Murray’s achievements.

Dubbed the Glasgow Tennis Court, first minister Alex Salmond has promised to equip the facility with two racquets and up to six balls.

He said: “This tennis field, or ‘court’ as I believe they are called by experts, is a recognition of the fact that playing non-violent sports is no longer a betrayal of our national identity.

“Scotland’s up-and-coming tennis talent will be able to book it for up to 45 minutes at a time, the keys are in the nearby chip shop.”

juLast year 110 people died through drugs and Mr McComb said three times more people were dying from prescribed medications than from heroin and ecstasy.

The number of ecstasy tablets seized annually has plummeted from 30,000 to 6,000 last year but the PSNI has issued an alert about ecstasy laced with a slower-acting bulking chemical which can prove even more deadly because abusers may take extra pills in the mistaken belief that they are weak.

A recent batch seized contained "Green Rolexes" - which can sell for a couple of pounds each - but the detective said all colours of tablets were potentially dangerous. They can cause convulsions and overheating, with people taking cold showers in their desperation to cool down.

The senior officer issued a stark warning.

"If you are mixing drink with any type of unprescribed medication you are buying over the internet that is a game of chance and the odds are not in your favour."

Other emerging drugs include so-called legal highs, manufactured legitimately for domestic purposes like pond cleaning but bought to be taken by party-goers

My connection crawls anyway.

I don't listen to any of the tunes people post in there any more either.

What is everyone's feeling on this?
