"dying for clear skin" on BBC3, can relate to this from when i was younger, acne is an absolute cunt. roaccutane treatment is some badass stuff. anyone here suffered from it?

In UK/Europe we are far better built for drug abuse, stronger genetics I think. Just check out the USA-dominated Ecstasy forum where people fret about taking two pills in a night. Hence we carry on well into adulthood

I had really awful acne, I'm talking huge red spots with pus and oil the works on the entire face, from age 12 all the way through to 19. NOTHING worked for years, clearasil in particular is a pile of wank for actual acne. I was eventually put on highest dose of Roaacutane for a year and that started to clear it up maybe 50% albeit with horrible side effects, the worst dry lips you can possibly imagine being the worst of them.

Then I started smoking tons of weed and that actually cleared it up fully. No joke, after a solid year of heavy smoking along with various MDMA binges my face was clear as day. I still have on and off outbreaks every year though, but nothing like my teens, that was truly awful :(

Check out the yank Heroin threads . The Veterans are 25 , bar one or two guys. In here the Heroin thread regulars are 30 + mostly .

I think that the NHS & Methadone prescribing is the reason . It gives us a fall back . In the States it's about insurance . Also the sentences for possession are fukin scary
 
You are right Brimz - a young drug user in the states is infinitely more likely to be locked up, especially if they are black, where it increases tenfold (not a joke by any means)

Am I right in thinking straight up possession rarely results in a jail term here? Even with our messed up system most judges can see its completely pointless and a waste of taxpayer money
 
I think it's more political than that. As far as BL goes, the internet, especially in the US, is white, middle class dominated. Which kinda excludes a fair percentage of their (black) drug users. If the net were universal, things would be different in respect to the US and BL.

It's also political because people in the US are brought up even more in a culture of work than we are. We have more time and tendency to take drugs.

And finally it's political because, paradoxically, while the US are brought up on the lie of freedom (largely due to their constitution) while we are tied into a nanny state, the results of this appear to be that they, the US, are more susceptible to drug misinformation BS while we feel we have the right to question our leaders decisions for us more than they do.
 
Yeah and the fact that we don't refuse to give poor people healthcare helps too, so methadone is obtainable for even the homeless and destitute. Makes it a lot easier to stabilise I guess. I know most users on meth still use smack from what I hear but I suppose having at least some level of it sorted must help in getting a life back together.

can fully relate to this, had all the side effects, had the depression and everything, weird dreams, anxiety, swolen dry lips. dunno what i would have done with out accutane though. very bad times. have you been left with bad scars?

good to hear the weed and MDMA cleared it up haha, quality. same, still get outbreaks sometimes

Its truly soul destroying as a teenager when body image is pretty much one's entire world for a period. Really messed me up to be honest. When people used to complain about having a couple of odd spots I would feel great contempt towards them lol

I think I was pretty lucky with side effects compared to most, I remember reading the list in the prescription box it was longer than my arm. I had mainly the super dry lips, used to carry vaseline everywhere heh
 
you nailed it spot on. ruined me. yea i used to dream for clear skin, i could feel eyes ripping me to bits, "look at the state of him" self asteem went tits up
 
I wonder what the racial profile of the whole of BL is ? I'm thinking less than 2% are Black.

I can think of about 5 Americans of top that i know are Black .

There's a few more than that, but it's definitely fairly white (probably more of an Asian minority than a Black one). Not helped by the Lounge, which used to be fairly hostile to minorities IMO. If you remember people like Beagle and Lacey K. People really used to 'other' him, and people took the piss out of her for being stupid because she wrote in a fairly casual style and used slang, when she's actually smarter and more knowledgeable than most people here. And then more recently you have the 4Chan wannabies saying "nigger" every chance they can get, mainly to annoy the mods who asked them not to. Hardly the sort of place that a black person would feel welcome

You can't miss her , well when i joined you couldn't . She has got some real stories n i respect that But so Have I & just cos they aren't US based doesn't make them less valid.
she def. thought she was black , i thought she was for a while tbh.
 
If I'd first discovered The Lounge or ED then I'd have sacked this site after getting my initial question answered. I'd never posted on a forum like this before & only been a semi-regular poster on one other (now shutdown :() since. I came here looking specifically to find out what was wrong with UK ecto though, so EADD was the first thing I found.
 
What's the special bit of your brain that looks at the remaining tobacco in your pouch under a streetlight and thinks you've got enough for two spliffs and a snout and then when you get home you've got exactly enough for one skinny spliff? Fuck that noise.
